  • 1992 DePaul upsets #16 Florida State in the 7UP Shootout in Tampa, FL in the new Suncoast Dome (later called Tropicana Field). Plenty of recognizable and interesting names in this one, including the successor to Joey Meyer at DePaul -- Pat Kennedy. DePaul Players David Booth, Stephen Howard, Terry Davis, Joe Daughrity, Howard Nathan, Jeff Stern, Tom Kleinschmidt, and Curtis Price. Florida State players Sam Cassell, Doug Edwards, Bob Sura, Chuck Graham, Rodney Dobard, and future Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward. On the call for the game is Dick Vitale, Jim Valvano, and Brent Musburger as well as Cheryl Miller as the sideline reporter (nice thumbnail picture of Cheryl and Coach Ray).
Despite David Booth going down with a nasty ankle injury early in the second half, the Blue Demons grind out a victory over the Seminoles in Florida. Strong games for Terry Davis and Stephen Howard. Howard Nathan shows flashes of his talent and potential. I had forgotten most of the details of this game, so it was a fun one to view it again.

The former Suncoast Dome became the PepsiCo, Inc., Tropicana Products, Inc. Division Field.
Also. In 1986, Capital Cities Communications, Inc. purchased ABC, becoming Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. Then, in 1995, The Walt Disney Company purchased Capital Cities/ABC., Inc. 😀👌
