Having been to Russia 3 years ago, we here living in New Zealand have realised how many lies we are continually told about every aspect of Russia and their politics. A very sad situation.
Different sides say the opposite. We practice this expression - the truth is somewhere in between. It applies here too, I think.

Согласен. Работал с 2007 го года с иностранцами на своей работе. Приезжали зашуганными, через три месяца начинали понимать, что им всю жизнь дома в голову заливали дерьмо.

Я живу в Москве. Четыре года назад к нам в гости приехал знакомый из Великобритании. У него был шок когда он узнал, что в метро для всех есть бесплатный Wi-Fi. Он много путешествовал, но в России для него было удивительно всё к чему мы привыкли. Теперь он объездил много Российских городов, и убеждён, что Россия лучшая! А супермаркет - это самое меньшее, что вас приятно удивит в России!

Хммм, как любопытно, в прошлом году был в Чехии и Словакии. На ж/д вокзале и в аэропорту и в скором поезде, и в центре 15 тыс городка вай-фай. Если покупать симку то да интернет оч. дорогой, 10€ за 6Гб + 200 мин.
Globus is one of the best supermarkets in the world. A bit expensive. Germans did a lot of good business in Russia. Such a pity what happens now. Germany and Russia should do much more business together rather than confronting.

I have never seen a supermarket that huge in the United States. There is an unbelievable enormous selection of items available there that boggles my mind.
It shows how little we westerners know about Russia.

In size, this is an ordinary supermarket for large Russian cities. Maybe the fact is that we have a denser building of houses, a higher density of residents, and such large stores have a greater throughput.
It can be seen that the sanctions are working. (irony) A great and rich country. And they certainly won't be cold like we are in the Czech Republic. Thanks for the video, but there are a lot of pictures of how things are in Russia all over the internet. They will survive the sanctions just fine. Only Europe pays for it.

Agree, the size is enormous and food is pretty good there. It also feels like they combined packnsave, the warehouse and supercheap auto all in one :) NZ shops are fantastic too !
There are just a lot of "shops at home" in Russia. These are the two largest networks "Magnet" and "Pyaterochka".No need to go to the supermarket to buy ordinary products. The cost is about the same and you don't spend on the trip. For example, I have two similar stores on the street at once that look at each other with windows :) One of them is round-the-clock and you can go make a purchase at least at one o'clock in the morning.
I completely agree with you. I did another video showing all the stores close to my apartment in Moscow Region. I live in Russia now, unfortunately I'll have to move to Italy in January since my company requires me there. I am scared shitless since life is so good AND CHEAP here in Russia (just kind of complicated with getting paid working for a western company) and in Italy the quality of life of my family will probably go down a lot.
It's an exceptional time in the world when moving from a third world country to the EU actually worsens your life... I have Brazilian friends living in Ireland who are literally fleeing back to Brasil because of the cost of living getting so high. Imagine that: for an immigrant, Brasil is better than Ireland and Russia is better than the EU. It's crazy.

We both loved it. I shop here a lot, as its my local mall goingtoo and from the Metro. Before this visit with Ben he had only seen Auchan and Perikrostok. So he was very happy to walk through this place with me. He is from Hamilton by the way. Russell.

When I left Voronezh where I used to live, there were not such shops and places, even in Moscow. Now Russia is different for sure. And I'm very proud for my country. I support Putin with my whole heart coz it's only him who has lifted economy so high. I'm very very happy for Russians 🥰👍🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
В этом году ехала с Санкт-Петербурга в Тюмень на автомобиле, а это 2900 километров, почти все поля засеяны в основном пшеницей, дороги расширяются и ремонтируются почти на всей протяжённости и федеральные трассы и региональные дороги. Видимо нам нужен был этот пенок под зад чтоб так ускоренно развиваться.
Надеюсь, до Сибири инерция от этого пинка также дойдет, обычно всё заканчивается в западной части страны.

This is a large supermarket in a megapolis. But you’d also be amazed to see chuck steaks in Pyatorochka somewhere far north on a road to Arkhangelsk, in a tiny city with a population of 2000 people in rural area. I was stunned when I found such food even there

Не большой любитель рыбы, но только потому что у нас (в нашем регионе) она не просто не первой свежести, а просто, как правило, "ржавая".
А я живу в столице, и не на окраине , не знаю в какой они магазин ходили, не подходит под все те , что есть впринципе. Какой-то супер где-то нашли. Наверное элитный где-то в центре. И чего ни там восхищаются не понимаю. А вот с ваших комментариев :"кумария, гребешок, кета, сима, кальмар, устрицы", -слюни потекли. А кто такая кукумария и сима?

I've dreamed all my life of coming to Europe/Russia, and I just arrived here in December 2021. Russia adopted me and is now my home, but I always thought of also visiting the EU with my (Russian) girl, but now the whole of Europe is in crisis and russophobic (I literally got landlords rejecting to rent me apartments in Italy because my girl is Russian) because of an issue the Americans created (Lord knows it wasn't British/German politicians distributing cookies and giving support speeches during 2014 Kiev coup). We need peace in Europe and Russia is part of Europe, I wish the EU would understand that and stop being the Americans lapdog.
Thanks for your comments, i completely understand your situation and how it's going to be moving to Europe. Italy is a nice place though, i have visited many times working on cruise ships, i even spent time there working in the shipyards. It's certainly not a cheap place to live though with the euro the way it is. There are millions of single family houses in Moscow region alone - that's why lawnmowers are on sale. Now I wonder what supermarkets are like in New Zealand and what Ben is doing in Russia.
In Australia a typical supermarket will only have the usual food goods, we don't have this type of multipurpose store like this. Lawnmowers we would have to go to an Obi type place to get one, or a specialty garden center. Ben was over in Russia visiting family, together with his wife and 2 kids. Russell.

Not like this one! Other then food there is kitchen/laundry and baking supplies, toiletries, small selection of gardening stuff, cards and envelopes, few kids toys, beer and wine and that's about it!

Природа за нас)), урожай отменный, даже при дождях и холодном лете. Я про Красноярск. Мы кабачки, ранетку, огурцы раздавали всем подряд, иногда, чтоб не везти по работам, около подьезда оставляли. Однажды увидели на двери подъезда фото кабачков с нашим острым перцем, зеленью (петрушка как бешенная нарастала, ток срезай) и фломастером - Спасибо! Мелочь), а приятно!. Не у всех дачи)

I was in Globus in the south of Moscow a month ago and this video is absolutely true. The best fast cafe there, the prices are true, the assortment is huge! There are small near home shops, where I go everyday, but this is the mega shop on the outskirts for those who make big shopping for a week. Prices are almost the same everywhere.
New Zealand has no Hypermarkets selling cheap stuff. Why not? Shopped at Hypermarkets 50 years ago in North East England. New Zealand suffers from Cartels of everything. You never get a bargain in New Zealand and probably Australia. Mind you I'm too old but still Moscow seems to be the leader with plenty gas!

Small remark: in Russian supermarkets fish is either frozen or salted. Frozen fish never contains salt and vice versa salted fish never sold frozen.

Wow the selection is outstanding! We have quite large supermarkets in some places here but not on this scale. We did a quick supermarket visit in our vlog #61 at around 05.20 if you want to see a small town supermarket. This one is New World as Ben mentioned. Our supermarkets have been condensed down so much since covid as shortage on food imports have hit. The price atm out of season for fresh veg is off the charts! Food prices in general have gone up for everything though.

What torture watching this. I am green and violet with jealousy. I think security might have a big problem if anyone did a similar video in NZ. As for stock?? we have huge gaps on the shelves. Every time I shop, I come home with only part of my list, and where things are available, I tend to over-shop in case it becomes a shortage.

Globus прекрасен конечно. Есть еще Spar - там в гастраномии начинаешь совсем грустить, что столько сразу не сожрать.

Respect from Russian guy for mentioning my favorite sea buckthorn juice. I had a lot of it during it's season at my grandparents countryside garden. Actually its pretty easy to grow sea buckthorn trees, but in same time it is a bit hard to maintain it's spread across your soil, its spreading like weed if you will leave it w/o control.
That store was gorgeous. I'm not seeing anything like that in California.

This summer, my garden was overrun by billions of garden ants. No means of struggle helped me. My neighbor, seeing my struggle with ants, advised me to spray the leaves of fruit trees with Coca-Cola. Ants place colonies of aphids on some trees, which then spoil fruit trees. And so I poured Coca-Cola into the sprayer and treated the trees. I've done this for several days in a row. And I was glad to discover the absence of ants

Globus is one of the convenient supermarkets that I visit regularly. One of the shops is on the way to my dacha, so I shop there on Friday evening or order everything directly to the dacha.
I do seem to move people doing bigger shopping ahead of the weekends. Like we have done before going to a friend's dacha before. It's definitely got a good selection of food to choose from. Rusell.

Дополню есть ещё такие же магазины SPAR ,METRO,Auchan.Есть круглосуточные магазины в пешей доступности.Есть сельскохозяйственные рынки,где я беру свежую вкуснейшую натуральную свиную шейку по 5$ за кг.Любая доставка еды на дом,быстро и дёшево.Лучший в мире !!! общественный транспорт в Москве,где транспорт отслеживается в смартфоне и ходит очень часто.Лучшее и дешёвое такси,средняя подача 5-7 минут,поездка 10-15$ в час.
И самое главное много одиноких симпатичных девушек.
New Zealanders don't have any stores like this, up until a couple of months ago when Costco opened its first store in New Zealand in Auckland. Now we are used to seeing all types of items in store, much like what we're seeing now.

The butter cubes look very large. In Poland, mainly 200g are sold, there are also smaller ones.

It was the end of the isle where bid packeges are stored, smaller ones must be near. In Russia butter is traditionally sold in 180-200g sticks but many, including me prefer biggers sticks (350-500g depending on brand).
It varies in Russia too: 100 gr, 180gr, etc
most of them are going in sizes of 180, 200 and double 360, 400.

Я вчера покупала сыр. Длинная витрина и сыры, сыры, сыры....все хотелось попробовать...глаза разбегаются и не собрать в кучку. Наконец сконцентрировалась и купила "Королевский"...название понравилось...ещё не пробовала...так же выбирала колбасу ....прям измучилась вся...😢😢😂😂😂😂👍
А ещё в России будем рады видеть, учёных инженеров, проектировщиков, медиков, и вообще специалистов и экспертов в различных областях, переезжайте к нам жить, мы в основной массе своей очень дружные и миролюбивые 😍😘

Есть в России некоторые люди из Новой Зеландии и Австралии, которые считают теперь Россию своим домом. Они занимаются животноводством, фермерством, производят сыр и другие молочные продукты, которые не хуже чем в Европе. Жаль, что их ещё очень мало и у них пока ещё маленький бизнес. Я очень надеюсь, что со временем таких опытных специалистов станет больше и мы будем в любом магазине видеть разные сыры самого высокого класса и качества, которые не хуже, чем в любой стране Евросоюза.

Ну вообще да, есть острая нехватка специалистов, многие выпускники настолько закошмаренны стереотипами, что инженер это что то нищие из под плинтуса или завышенное чсв, что просто не идут в професию или не реализуют себя в ней. Все ещё молодой инженер проектировщик.
I'm living in Russia, but far away from Moscow, closer to the center of the country, in a city with a population of one million. The shop that is shown in this video is not a regular supermarket - it's called a hypermarket. In the video Ben said that New Zealand supermarkets are 5-6 time lesser in scope - well supermarkets here are the same size, but hypermarkets are much bigger and have much broader selection of things. You can't find gas powered instruments or automobile tires in supermarkets, but they are sometimes sold in hypermarkets.
Anyway, the scope of this hypermarket is much bigger than the hypermarkets I'm used to in my city, and that's because Moscow is very different to most of the Ruissain cities. I'm not saying that other Russian city are much worse, but they sure are lesser in scope.
У русских все просто и проще некуда. Мы за то, чтобы жить дружно со всеми и зла никому никогда не желали, но и гнобить себя никому не дадим.

И ещё, в России, в больших магазинах есть доставка продуктов, на дом, которые ты можешь заказать, через интернет, не выходя из дома, через компьютер или смартфон. У нас, в магазине, через сайт связанный со Сбербанком, заказывали продукты. Ты сидишь дома, выбираешь то, что тебе надо, отправляешь заказ и, минимум через час, тебе привозят твои заказанные товары. Я постоянно видел сборщиков продуктов, в жилетках сбербанка. Это вольнонаёмные работники, которые работают в удобное, для них время. Всего по несколько часов в день, не полны рабочий день. Насколько помню, для этого нужен только смартфон и какие-то документы. Вроде бы, они получают процент от собранных заказов. В основном это был студенты, иногда взрослые люди.
Единственный минус, заказов через интернет, на сайте не указываются все товары магазина. Некоторые, лучше самому купить, сходив в магазин. Например, те же хлебобулочные изделия, сдоба. То, что не расфасовано, по упаковкам и не имеет долгого срока хранения и которые быстро раскупают.
