      5:55 Why not get your root not on fifth fret B string for that E minor? You could even let that high E ring for a sitar like sound.

      @@andrewclarkeguitar I would not have know that 2 weeks ago. I had no idea this was all about to click. I just picked up the guitar after a 15 year hiatus following my father's death and I thought it was going to be a slog. While my fingers aren't calloused yet or back in prior form I know that is coming. I have learned more about theory this week than in the previous 30 years. I have to slow down though because if I take on too much at once I'll confuse myself and burn out. Thanks a million bro.

    i have a confession. ive been watching your videos for a slightly nefarious reason.
    see, the content covers mostly topics that ive already learned. as a guitar teacher, however, ive recently started accepting intermediate students instead of strictly entry level. the thing is, as the topics get more complex, there are so many different ways of learning. growing up with a learning impairment, my path to learning these skills looked much different than most typical students might prefer. i noticed this with one of my students recently, and decided to revert back to the beginning of the topic. i told their parents that the next few weeks would be free of charge, as it was of nobody's fault but my own.
    using your approach on the topic, we caught back up in less than two weeks AND my student has a much better grasp on the subject matter.
    i dont use your content directly, nor do i use your .pdf's or lesson plans because that feels like theft in my eyes. but i do use your thought process to help draw connections with my students.
    anyways, i hope youre okay with this. if not, i will honor your wishes 100%. either way, i have become a channel member today just to say thank you for helping me help others! plus, your content has helped me with some concepts that i didnt even realize i needed to improve upon!
    cheers from austin, TX! 🫡

    Great lessons! I play mostly minor keys in metal band. So if I'm playing in A minor I assume for the I chord I start in G shape on the 5th fret? But the triad shape would be wrong. The root would be C and not A. HELP!

    • @andrewclarkeguitar
      @andrewclarkeguitar  2 месяца назад

      Not exactly. If you're in a minor key, then you need to align your first finger with the root note. So the key of A minor would be the exact shape I shared in this video. The triad shapes would remain the same as well. If you need a more detailed explanation on relative major/minor keys, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/6CiDlJepl-o/видео.html
