#9 Accessing Cisco UCS server's KVM without Adobe Flash support.

- If you have an old UCS server (or APIC or DNAC appliance) running an old version of CIMC firmware you will be stuck now that Chrome and other browsers don't allow running Flash.
In the video, I'm showing you how to bypass the GUI and get straight to the KVM platform.
You can get the required file from:
github.com/Kri...
Sorry for the poor quality audio.
I wish I would've came across this 4 hours ago. Thanks a bunch! Worked like a charm!
VERY NICE!!! Worked as easily as advertised. I had to add the URL into the java security settings. Then, like magic, I was in.
It has been a pain in the ass to launch CIMC without Flash. This worked like a Charm !! Thank you so much.
Just wow. Thanks man. That is amazing. I needed to download older version of Java and also made sure the username and password is correct to access kvm.
You are welcome!
Thanks Kris - there you go still helping your old mates out back on the farm!!
Hey Pete, glad I'm still useful :) Send my greetings to the CPOC gang!
mate, this is amazing. thanks so much
Glad it helped!

Thank you very much!!!
Worded great, thank you.
Thanks..
I have problem "The certificate is not valid and cannot be used to verify the identity of this website."
I don't have a server to try anymore, but I think you have to fiddle with java security settings... try connecting via browser first and force accept the cert ?
After completeig same steps login failed
i get an error when trying from mac saying " failed to validate certificate. the application will not be executed" any idea how to fix it ?
I don't have a server to try anymore, but I think you have to fiddle with java security settings... try connecting via browser first and just accept the cert ?
thank you for sharing this useful video,
is there any way if I forget password I can open it or break password?
you need to have physical access to the server to clear the password ... btw have you tried the default admin/password combination?
Hi
I get the error: Application Blocked by Java Security
any help, please?
You probably have to add the CIMC address to java exceptions list to allow the connection.
@@mihailungureanu3652 you will need to provide your own credentials, best to ssh to the CIMC address first to confirm you got the correct data...
I got SOOO close. It gave me a certificate error. "Failed to validate certificate. The application will close" I've been working at this for days... I added the webaddress its trying to access to site security in Java! Help! Please... lol
disregard, I updated the java.security file "jdk.certpath.disabledAlgorithms" and changed it to MD2, MD5, SHA1 jdkCA & usage TLSServer,
RSA keySize < 1024, DSA keySize < 1024, EC keySize < 224,
include jdk.disabled.namedCurves
Sorry I'm not working for Cisco anymore so had now way to test it ... thanks for taking the time and leaving the comments for other to learn from! :)
@@MyGeekyHobby No worries, I figured it out. It took a few days and a downloading frenzy. I ended up creating a custom JSON file that allowed me to access it. Thanks!
What is the file extension while saving?
it should be jnlp
@@avrkris unable to launch the application
This is the error message
Any help?
@@mohamedanwar9544 That typically means the server is not responding
@@mohamedanwar9544 Navigate to configure JAVA from the Windows start menu, go to advance tab and enable all the tls versions + enable ssl option + JNLP file (always allow).
I get unable to launch application and did all explained
Hmm in my experience that usually means you don’t have IP connectivity to the server, are you able to ping the IP address of CIMC from the same computer?
@@MyGeekyHobby I could ping it but it didn't work. I used Maxthon 2012 browser and it got me in.
Application Error: Unable to launch the application
KVM only works with certain versions of Java, so if CIMC Is 3.0(4s) for example, Java needs to be 8.0.301 etc.
@@kamzy98 does it mean it worked in the end for you?
@@MyGeekyHobby yes, thank you :)
Hello, I have the same symptoms, even with the same java and cimc versions.
Repair cash !!
While I'm actively looking for a jnlp file I can edit to get access to my boxes, this doesn't appear to be a valid file for that. There is a TON of code in here that is going off to the internet doing god knows what. I don't think this is a file you want to use.
The file on github is exactly what you get when you click on the KVM link in CIMC, the only thing I "modified" was to replace the "temporary" credentials with your actual credentials. If you follow my instructions you will end up replacing the 2.2.2.2 address with you own cimc ip address and all those links you are worried about will be pointing to your server. I've been using this approach for over 10 years :)
@@MyGeekyHobby No, it isn't. The file posted on Github is over 1000 lines long. The actual JNLP file from a server (I found a way to pull it from the command line) is only about 125 lines. Open it up with a text editor. It should have no need at all to be making a bunch of calls out to GitHub. Maybe your file got modified by someone else? Anyway, you can pull the JNLP file down directly using the following: /kvm.jnlp?cimcAddr=&tkn1=&tkn2=
Take a look and see at your file on github. You specifically mentioned the user id on line 14. Look at what is on line 14. Then search for "admin". You'll see what I mean.
@@CliffMcG ah! yes when you "save as" just the file it will download in html format, it saves in html... this is how github works. To fix it you either copy and paste the text the same way I do it in the video, open raw version ... or go to "Code" -> Download zip. If you want to be safe just copy the text into a new file and save the file with jnlp extension.
Thank you!!
