    Ko-ken does offer replacement plastic socket protectors for the impact wheel sockets and they are the same size as for the Zeal wheel sockets the part number is the 19mm socket is 198-19. They are available in 17, 19, 21, or 22mm size just change the number after the dash for the size.
    Thanks for the video always look forward to and enjoy the contents.

    Like the impact and have looked into the manufacturer "Kuken Air Tools". They are a well established company having started in the late 60's and their lineup covers the whole engineering industry. Thanks for sharing and all the best for 2021.

    My favorite part was at the end when Chris went through the 5 speeds of the impact wrench. That's a serious tool.

    I didn't realize there was supposed to be any dull side. Pretty sure my Knipex are sharp on both sides.

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад

      Yeah, let me explain my thoughts on that. After making my initial test cuts, I looked at one cutting edge and saw that it was rather blunt looking. So, I assumed this was one of those anvil type cutters. I know it's not very common, but I know Channellock had/has cutters like that, as well as precision cutters that feature that. So, that was my train of thought. These cutters should of come with standard cutting edges (two sharp blades, with a 90° cutting angle).

    I'm really surprised about the 3Peaks pliers, I guess none gets it 100% perfect every time. If I owned a BMW car I would definitely want you to be the person working on it.

      Yeah, I got some homework to do....typing up an email in Japanese. Will report back when they respond.

    I honestly can say I have never purposely de magnetized anything lol very interesting that they would put such a poor cutting edge

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад

      Yeah, I don't recall having to de-magnetize bits either. I have had times when long power bits stick to eachother when I don't want them to, but not a huge hassle. I thought those who work on fine electronics might be careful about magnetized bits/screwdrivers? Maybe it's just an old wise tale that they can damage certain sensitive electronics?

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад

      Actually I had to demagnetize a couple of my ratchets yesterday as they were touching each other. Pretty sure it's from placing them on my magnetic parts tray. So, ended up using one if my demagnetizers...to keep them from getting all touchy feely with each other 🤣

    Happy new years another amazing tool haul thanks for sharing!!! Is the kuken a high torque like matco? Lol jk sounds quite and powerful

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад

      Lol at the Matco comment! I think Japanese air tool manufacturers, in general, don't hyper-inflate figures. Kuken specs are real. This is one runs like a precision air tool, and yes, it's super quiet! Not a replacement for a heavy hitter, but a great medium-duty impact.

    • @Pauleh123
      @Pauleh123 3 года назад +1

      My co worker has the new matco 1/2 composite, zips off rusty light commercial truck lug nuts like it's a mini cooper. Crazy crazy powerful. Pretty light too, only 4 1/2 pounds.

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад +3

      My heavy hitter is a 5-year old Aircat 1150 model. It's also 4.5lbs and advertised as "Provides 900 ft-lb maximum torque and 1,295 ft-lb of loosening torque". It's taken off crank bolts and axle nuts that a Snap-on MG725, MAC AWP050, and IR 2135 couldn't. Pretty impressive, but it's ergonomics and control is, meh.

    Wonderful video as per usual! Very interested in the Kuken guns. I have an old MAC that is great, gobs of power, but it's VERY heavy and has no speed control. On most bolts, it's too much and the tool gets away from you. I was looking at the older model you have, it's on sale on franks tools. Appears to be very light weight and easy acsess controls. How has it held up? It looks kinda delicate, and I'm curious how the boot held up as I don't have great experiences with rubber on tools, balloons and melts off in transmission fluid.

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! There's a sort of tradeoff. This Kuken gun doesn't have gobs of power, but it's VERY quiet, with excellent trigger control. It's not a brute, but a well tuned precision tool.
      I abused the hell out of the older one. I wasn't wise enough to bring out the heavy hitter when the situation called for. Instead I bagged on the little Kuken. It likely was a contributor to its early demise...well, in reverse, it became gutless. Forward is still fine. The case cover is more of a thermoplastic than a rubber cover. Some scuff marks but otherwise totally fine! Despite no thread lock on the screws holding the cover, they never backed out once! I actually bought my first Kuken from Frankstools.
      My initial thoughts on the newer model is good, and would recommend it over the older Spro-N.

      @@chriscas-ToolAficionado I work at a small transmission shop, so we get everything from 1 ton trucks to honda fits. Was thinking of using it for a "daily driver gun" and bringing out the big boy MAC (the new one is 6lbs, this one is older than me so I imagine it weighs much more, very heavy to lug around) for the trucks and such. Sounds like it would work perfectly for mounts, crossmembers, control arms, light vehicle lug nuts etc etc. The 1600Spr is 240 at franks, and the 1600 pro 1 is 270, although I can't tell a difference in the specs other then that the pro 1 is heavier and uses more air. How much did you pay for yours?

    • @Pauleh123
      @Pauleh123 3 года назад +1

      Or would it be better to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get and new fancy high power 3/8 gun? Was looking at the stubby from matco which advertises 600 ft/lbs of breakaway torque (which I know it's overzealous, but still, it's probably pretty powerful). Need a 3/8 too as I have an old IR with a bad speed control and a wallered out anvil.

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад +1

      The Kuken is like a 3/8 size....or put another way....it's like a 1/2 drive in a 3/8 body (weighs only 3.1lbs). it has a torque range of 50-240ft.lbs. The tool truck air tool specs are kinda ridiculous. It's a war between their marketing departments. By next year that figure will jump to 700ft.lbs! lol.
      Btw, was it you and I that was talking about Ko-ken / Snap-on multi-purpose ratchets? I can't remember if it was you or another viewer.

      @@chriscas-ToolAficionado Yes, it was me. I have decided just to buy the Koken and give it a shot. Ordered it a few days ago along with some other goodies off of franks like the Koken double swivel and the Koken spinners. But, yeah I'll probably just skip the Kuken for now and get a nice 3/8 gun and I'll see if I need an in between after that.

    • @chriscas-ToolAficionado
      @chriscas-ToolAficionado  3 года назад

      Yes, as far as I know, Kuken stuff is all made in Japan. There's several air tool manufacturers in Japan and some have produced industry-firsts and have even been major suppliers of tool truck brands and other North American industrial brands.
