    Great video. Really enjoying your channel. I’ve used sonoff for a long time. I wish they would make a device that is like a combination of TH and POW. I have a heater in the greenhouse that I want to control based on temperature but I also want to know how much power it’s consuming. Any thoughts on how to accomplish this with sonoff? In the old days you could take a POW I believe and leverage tasmota and a temperature added to an extra gpio pin. Not sure if that’s an option these days with the elites. Thanks for the great video.

      @notenoughtech  2 года назад +3

      When tasmota is finalised for these you can use existing GPIO to connect DHT11 and get the temperature readings too.

    Interesting unit. I would have preferred that they had built better cable restraints, like in some of their other devices, rather than have the wires dangle out of the bottom of the device. At least they have addressed those awful lever action terminals that they have in other devices. Seems quite good value for money.

      I hated these push in terminals. I don't mind the screw in ones as they will keep the cable in place fairly well

    since POW Elite has no ground connection unlike Gen1 & R2,
    can I connect ground wire directly to the main power switch?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 года назад +1

      You could bypass the earth and run it directly. The only disadvantage of that is that Elite isn't Earthed but your device still will be,

    Is the 16amps or 20amps advertising based on inductive load or resistive load?

  • @ct6858
    @ct6858 Год назад

    Hey, great video! Any idea if this can handle inductive load from a refrigerator? We're on a 240V system so current might be lower than usual, and our standard breaker is only 10A.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Год назад

      You'd have to check the exact rating. Other than actual power use...not sure if relay controlling your fridge makes that much sense. New appliances are pretty optimised.

    Hi is the ideal for a small room with lights and plugs or will the power rating be too high?

    • @notenoughtech

      Lights are negligible, as per sockets - it depends what load you are plugging in.. do the math, you will know what to expect

    Nice video, I am planning to connect this to my EV charger, will this device cut off and turn back on if there is voltage fluctuations? If voltage goes above 250v turn off and automatic restore when voltage goes below 250?

      Yes you could set the policies in automation panel to stop the charging if voltage exceeds the requirements

    Hello,
    Do you think the 20A version is safe for use with a water heater (230V, 2500W AC) or you advice for a POW R3 ?
    I think there is no problem (2500W means 10A) because power factor seems to be 1 (A water heater is fully resisting I think) but my fear is that the consumption can be 2500W for 6 to 7 consecutives hours and sonoff device can be hot ?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 года назад +2

      You should be fine. As this is a resistive load so you are well within the spec. For the sake of safety set limits on your device so it turns off if it thinks you draw too much

    Is there any limit of devices behind the Sonoff Pow Elite 16D? Or it just not to get over the 16 és 20Amp? I would like to put it before my garden/garden circuit. On that i use lot of things like drill, saw etc.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 года назад

      The limit is to keep the device safe, so you want to stick to that. there is no physical limitation that would stop you drawing more current, however you have over current protection baked in software to make sure you don't go over set thresholds

      Too bad I have my home mostly running with Tuya devices and Tuya only offers LocalTuya with a lot of hassle (IMO).
      Would be willing to buy a similar iHost-device if it can work with Tuya.

    Refresh monitoring every 5 seconds is much for me. Sometimes ı need to see reaction of power more quickly. therefore I use another device which show refresh rate every second. Another situation, sonoff send information about value of poer or voltage to phone very late. More than 5 second. sometime frozen. esspacialy when i check from far. I can say that my ınternet connection speed is very good. therefore ı don't think that this is about internet speed.
    If dont need information quickly than 5 seconds then good device. I have many sonoff device in my home. But monitoring is not so well they solved for me.
