Thank you for making this video available. My primary drive filled up and, when I took my computer apart, I couldn't find it. Really appreciate how thorough your hardware walkthrough was.
Before purchasing the product, I was searching for a video related to power supply, and I found your video and enjoyed it. I don't know how much it helped me by giving information and product reviews on the products I want to purchase. Thank you for your adventurous and inquisitive spirit. I used Google Translate because my English was not good.
UG: Thank you so much for your help. I have the same model Dell and need to replace the C:/ drive. When I first looked inside the system I couldn't find the component, but after watching your video, I NOW know where it's at. I'm replacing the drive with a full size SSD and I just wasn't looking for an SSD that small. Now, I can find and replace the drive. Thanks again!!!
Great video. I have this computer and I really need to change the case but I can't find a compatible model for the motherboard and the power supply. Does anyone know any brand that can be used to replace the Dell 8940 case?
Thank you; This is a good brake down of the Dell 8940; and found; what I was really searching for; Information on the upgrade of the SSD drive, and the clone, of the C - drive, very good. Be-well, L.A.Cal-
I have a question. I bought upgraded RAM for my 8940 the problem is I did not pay attention to which slots I took the original RAM out of. Do they go in the white or black slot. I discarded the old RAM.
This video is really good I have the same pc with the rtx 3060ti I wanted to watch this video because I’m upgrading the case for my mother board and I needed to know how to take it apart
How do you move the screw socket for the short m.2 ssd to the long m.2 ssd on the motherboard? Does it just pop off and snap back in or do you have to remove the motherboard?
hi! i am late to this video. I have a customized (on the dell site) but prebuilt 8940 that keeps crashing. might be a cooling issue? did you ever make a video about installing that extra fan? I am not a hardware person so even that simple thing is a little over my head haha. Or if you dont have a video, do you have any resources I can look at?
can you send me a link in the comments to the intake fan and the screws which are needed for that and also the sata to fan power cable changer. that would be awesome!!!
I replaced & upgraded my CPU fan but now the system gives an error message that CPU fan is not working. How do i fix the error message. The PC is working efficiently but when i scan the system i still get this error message.
I just ordered the Dell 8940 Special Addition with the following spec's below. Will I need to exchange the fan for a better one. If so what do you suggest. I read you need a certain fan due to Dells mounting brackets. Thanks 2TB M.2 PCIe NVME SSD (Boot) + 2TB SATA 7200RPM HDD (Storage) 500W Mineral White Bezel Chassis including optical drive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB Studio (LHR) 64GB, 16Gx4, DDR4, 2933MHz Tray load DVD Drive (Reads and Writes to DVD/CD) 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900K processor (8-Core, 16M Cache, 3.5GHz to 5.3GHz
I just got the exact same PC. Haven't had time to take it out of the box yet... From what I understand, the i9-11900K (unlocked CPU) that we got in our systems comes with a better CPU cooler than the i9-11900 (locked CPU) and may not require replacing the CPU cooler. Of course it could benefit from an even better cooler, but the one that comes with the 11900K is much better than the one that comes with the 11900. I plan on keeping the stock cooler unless I notice it overheats or the performance gets throttled. Then I will look for a better cooler.
that's too bad, i was really looking for some help on removing the motherboard, since I've tried and it looks like it might be screwed in from the back which Dell does not allow you to get to, since the back of the tower si sealed tight.
Wish that I would’ve picked up the one with the 3060 last week (sold out). It has 32GB DDR4 2993 MHz (DDR4 4000 MHz gets my attention). The other factor was my lack of knowledge when adding 3.5” drives (assumed it only accommodated one). All for $1349.99🤒 As long as you keep the original CPU fan connected, just relocate it the mobo shouldn’t throw boot errors with a new cooler.
I admit I was surprised when I purchased my XPS 8940 which comes with an integrated GPU. Looks like the GPU is integrated as part of the CPU and you are given a displayport video output. I upgraded to a PNY GeForce GTX 1650 so can still use my DVI monitor and KVM switches.

You are welcome!
The next thing to do is to put specialized parts in it, like a gaming motherboard and other stronger components to make the case a sleeper build.
Lol...
just got the same one from dell. came with a RTX 3060 8GB Ram. Upgraded to 32GB and it works great. Use it to render Daz Studio and Blender graphics
How much

@19:14 - No you had it right the first time. A 120 mm fan can be installed. A special brack can be purchased on EBay to install it.,

Do these boards have a Standard LGA1200 cooler mount points? if someone wanted to upgrade the CPU cooler?

Would u mind telling me how to remove motherboard?
Should have 8 screws on the motherboard
what is the purpose of the black connectors above and below the blue Pci connector
For something like WiFi card. Take a look here: amzn.to/3xuN3DB
does anyone know what the motherboard name and model is?
Why there is no vrm heatsink
thanks. where can I get the plastic 2.5 hdd holder from, or part number?
Try this one: amzn.to/3Hf6a9p

I have six months of warranty left, but this sucks.
do you need to configure the PC after installing tghe SSD?
hello bro , i bought dell xps 8940 but its missing GRAPHICS CARD . can i use without graphics card ? this is my first computer please help me
Yes you can, if your cpu is Intel

you can, but if you want to use it for games or rendering, you need to upgrade.

It doesn't really need an intake fan unless you're a hard-core gamer and in that case you wouldn't be buying this PC.
You have to be kidding. The CPU alone gets cooked.
