This is a common issue on our Xs. When I bought mine, it was leaking. I bought a Jeep one (all manual Xs and Off Road/Pro-4X have a Dana 44 rear end) and had a shop install it for me for $144 in labor. Not bad. I was too chicken messing with the alignment of the drive shaft and the corresponding splines in the rear differential.

yeah I guess that what it is... and with older vehicles the seals ones you start moving them taking stuff out they gave out I guess but $144 is not bad indeed
haha yep I hoped you'll get a kick out of that phrase )

Hey ! when you talking about play.. the play is more of in and out of the but not up and down right ? if so thats normal . also if you have no leaks ( just make sure your topped off with fluid ) and everything looks good then you should be good ) hope it helps

@@DIY_AUTO_PHOTO it was easy I did the same thing you did when I was taking my c200k axle out and putting on the m226 I accidentally pulled the drive shaft out and when I put it back in I scrapped the seal and had a minor leak. I have a 2012 frontier with 37k miles on it. It's in really great shape practically new.
