There’s something so sweet about dachshunds. We had dachshunds while growing up. Great family pets, smart and tidied. And protectors. Our girl dog took a rattlesnake bite protecting my sister who was riding our horse. We rushed her to the vet. The bite was over her eye. Vet didn’t think she’d make it. 8 days in the hospital and while she was blinded in the one eye she made a good recovery. She lived to be 21 years old! Best dog ever!
I absolutely love Dachshunds! Entertaining..Intuitive. Brave..Cocky..Intelligent. Curious.. Bright and beyond comical! My 14 year old female knows three blocks away when we’re near the Vets office. She loves riding with me .. All calm ..All good and then she points her nose up and she can smell it!! Then the whining begins..

She knows the boundaries of my yard.or her yard!..At age 14 she still will not tolerate other dogs crossing the line of demarcation…. One dog in particular is terrified of her. Its crazy to watch a 12 lb dog chase a 70 lb dog off the yard.. lol Fur standing up on her back.. crazy..

Ours (Cosmo and Ivan) were the most loyal furr kids. We lost Cosmo to health issues; he was almost 13. We still have his brother (Ivan) who is also on meds but he's hanging in there. We miss Cosmo so much, and we know Ivan does too.

Tive um salsicha chamado Pancho!🥰 Era o cachorrinho mais alegre e vivaz que eu vi na vida! Ele nasceu em 2003 e viveu até 2016. Nunca vi ele triste. Ele era elétrico e animado! Um dachshund standard que pesava uns 15 quilos, era enorme. Pelo black and tan, brilhante, orelhudo, curioso, brincalhão e muito amoroso. Ele viveu bem por 13 anos, até que começou a tossir muito, e entre tantas idas e vindas à Veterinaria dele, após um ultrassom, descobrimos um câncer “galopante” no pulmão dele, uma massa, disse a veterinária. Eu não entendi o que era uma “massa”, em seu pulmão, até que ela disse que era câncer. Tentamos remédios manipulados especiais pra ele, mas seu estado piorava a cada dia. Pancho era insaciável, comia com alegria cada potinho de ração, como se fosse o único e primeiro da vida dele, tanto que seu rabinho balançava tanto a cada refeição que parecia que ele iria voar.🥰 Mas chegou ao ponto de não querer nem mais os petiscos. No seu último dia, depois de ele não aguentar mais tossir, levei-o novamente na veterinária, e nem o bifinho favorito ele aceitou. Nunca vi ele rejeitar petisco nos 13 anos que viveu conosco. E ele estava com a pelagem tão linda, tão brilhante, parecia tão forte e saudável por fora. E por dentro estava morrendo.😢 Nesse dia, para poupa-lo do sofrimento que não cessava, foi feita a eutanásia. Sua Veterinária disse que ele sofreria a cada dia mais.😭 Fiquei com ele até o seu último segundo, segurando sua cabeça em minhas mãos, enquanto ele me olhava com aqueles olhos cheios de alegria e confiança, senti que ele sabia que iria embora, e foi tão suavemente quanto pegar no sono. Foi muito difícil. Choro agora ao relatar isso. Não lembrava há muito tempo dele com essa dor, e esse nó na garganta. Ele era maravilhoso , gentil, cheio de alegria e amor! Quanto tempo se passou! Sou grata por ter tido esse raio de luz e alegria nas nossas vidas! A gente aqui em casa ri muito quando lembra das loucuras dele!😊 Aproveitem muito seus cachorrinhos, mas saibam que o tempo passa pra eles também. Pancho. It's a little box with a compartment where you can put treats in, and the dog scratches at it to get to the treats. It files down their nails. It only works on the front paws but you get 2 out of 4 done!

Have you heard of a scratch box? It's a little box with a compartment where you can put treats in, and the dog scratches at it to get to the treats. It files down their nails. It only works on the front paws but you get 2 out of 4 done!
