Not gonna lie, a Simon-faced instant noodle brand would be something I'd buy. "Get your cup of Noodle Blaze today! Pick one of three fantasticly insane flavors, Danny, Callum or Freedom! Noodle Blaze!"
Dragon's Lair was one of those games where most people would do what Danny did when he first encountered it, and then never play it again out of frustration. There was NEVER a line in front of a Dragon's Lair machine. EVER. So they'd get your money once, that was it. I don't personally know anyone who got to the end.
I thought Dragon's Lair was easy, it only took me and 2 friends a weekend to master, I think it was under $5 for each to master at 40 cents play. I believe it used to flash which way you were to go, and in most scenes, it was easy to know which way to push the joystick. At the arcade I went to it was the game with a Video Screen above the cabinet so people could watch how good or bad you were. Getting to the end was easy, doing it 20 years later, took me 3 lives but I still could do it. when I played it at a Nickel arcade.
Dragon's Lair is admittedly a bit of a crap game but it COMPLETELY deserves the Smithsonian spot. Pong was the first commercial videogame. Pac-man, I think, was the first really successful videogame, and Dragon's Lair was both revolutionary AND showed how great of a potential videogames have as an art form.
@@Adjuni Pong is NOT the first ARCADE video game, Galaxy Game per dated Pong by a few months, but it cost far too much for a mass-market release like Pong. Even that was not the first video game that had been created in 1958 by Physicist William Higinbotham it was based on a simple Tennis game, not sure it even had a name. Dragon's Lair, Pong, and Galaxy Game are in MAME, the other one is not. Galaxy Game is running on a PDP-11, unlike Pong which was a circuit board and could be cheaply made. Dragon's Lair was the first to use a Laserdisc and let the player choose the scenes to be played, in fact, the deleted but Animated one Scene before releasing of the game.
I actually have a working Dragon's Lair machine in my basement. They're worth several thousand dollars now because no one knew how to fix the laserdisc players, so they all got thrown out. I can win. There is a kind of endscreen that shows Dirk and Daphne in a heart. It looks like the laserdisc broke when it comes up. It's not very exciting.
Of the many channels I see Simon on, this is my favourite, because I love watching him breaking down and breaking character. Also, Shaq Fu makes perfect sense. He is currently 1 win 0 losses in AEW, so clearly he is a master of fighting.
It’s getting really crowded in the basement Simon, let’s see we have Danny, Sam, Callum, and ETA. The oil for the handcuffs alone must be costing you a fortune. Just to let you know I’m available for personal protection from a basement revolt.
I loved the video... except for Danny's take on Dragon's Lair! Yes it was a timing & memorization based game and that sucked for young players (like myself at the time of its release) an was damn expensive for the time. However it helped show a major leap in the possibility of storytelling in video games along with audio and video capabilities. It really showed that hardware can be a great limiter or enabler of the budding video game industry.

I'm starting to think that Danny doesn't actually live in his basement! Could he have been fibbing this whole time???
Bravo Sam. Five minutes is all it takes to remind myself that I'm not just here to ensure Danny is still alive 😂
“It’d be like me, putting my face on soup” ... brought to you by that cereal company.
POT NOODLE!
We need a “what are we talking about?” montage.
I have ADD and always wonder what the difference looks like for ADHD, this video helped me understand. Amazing video.
That's like asking the difference between having Asperger's and high functioning autism...
Yeah. I have ADD, by which I mean I have ADHD but I'm not hyperactive. It is the same disorder. Just some people experience some symptoms more than others. It's a spectrum, like most things.
4:37 Danny may have been on vacation. but Sam evidently hasn't been. Best edit ever?
]edit] Sam.. priceless... a higher level of Simon remixing
Sam "DJ Meme" Avila, ladies and gentlemen! Turning Simon's tangents into industry-quality EDM videos.
I love how Simon is so excited that he was right about the arcade game being in Japan, when he literally read that it was in Japan in the into to the segment. He really does do these in through the eyes and out the mouth.
That was a badass montage, Sam!
After watching Im not surprised anymore that it's 50 mins. Simons adha on full show and we love it
Sam's editing was awesome.
As a former Creative Director in Radio, I have to say this video simultaneously has both the best and worst ad read in history 😂😂😂
We need to do a brain blaze onward party - I'm sure plenty of us OGBBs have an oculus.
Nah OGBBs are sporting index's
also Index, but I’ve only ever milsimmed on PC
Your videos are getting better and better. Not to mention the Vintage Memes!!!
Okay I think Simon would actually like All Dogs Go to Heaven. The protagonist gets fucking murdered in the first five minutes after escaping prison and then goes and gambles as an angel.
Lol, I never looked at it that way, but you're bloody right. One of my fav childhood movies.
it is a questionable movie for a toddler though, and some of the songs are kind of shit but I love the artwork
A particularly grisly ending for the bad guy too. Yikes, Sykes! I mean, what else could you expect from a Don Bluth movie?
36:51 is what you came for. Love the energy in this video!
That would be a medical discharge. (Or possible reassignment to a non-combat role.)
Yep. If they can get you to function in a non-com roll, they will. If you are a unfixable dirt bag, you go home. I thought it was a General Discharge, but IDK.
@@joejoelesh1197 Well I'm assuming it was more of a "you having a mental breakdown" thing which would be a medical issue. But true, it would depend on how exactly you break down in combat.
Edit: Ok, I should clarify you're right, there's technically no such thin as a "medical discharge" but that's short hand for general discharge for medical reasons. Because in general "general discharge" for non-medical reasons tend to be very bad, though not quite bad enough for a dishonorable discharge or bad conduct discharge. Those discharged in "general discharge" for non-medical reasons are almost always non-eligible for the GI Bill.
Years ago (back when Pizza Hut was owned by Tricon along with KFC and Taco Bell) I was a pizza delivery driver. For the amount of work, the pay was rather decent after tips were included, but the title of "pizza delivery driver" was rather looked down upon, so I would just tell people that I was a "product distribution specialist for Tricon Inc.", and nobody was ever the wiser.
Sam out did himself with this one!
I seem to remember of the main appeal of “Dragon’s Lair” was the impractically skimpy clothing that the damsel in distress was wearing.
I love the videos when Simon goes totally off script!
Me too!! I love it so much! 😅
Holy shit Batman! Fact boi is completely yakked out of his mind, his adhd is on overdrive and Sam must’ve finally lost it trying to keep up with the memes
Edit: that ad read was frickin epic Simon
Sam went all out for this video he deserves an award that was one of the funniest things I've seen on a brain Blaze
Who else takes a shot every time Simon says "yeah....yeah....yeah" and then falls asleep sloshed by 8:20.
This could have been a 20 minute video, but thank God it's not. Blaze on, Simon.
Simon must’ve been starving Sam and Danny in the basement lately as the memes and scripts are off the chart, the ADHD Disco was hilarious 👏🏻👏🏻
Not gonna lie, a Simon-faced instant noodle brand would be something I'd buy.
"Get your cup of Noodle Blaze today! Pick one of three fantasticly insane flavors, Danny, Callum or Freedom! Noodle Blaze!"
It more sense than RottingTurtle
I had to scroll way too far down to find this. How is there not more support for this!
Im so grateful to have found this. Long form Simon just riffing and pissing about gives me life.
@@quantumleaper Yeah, I should have been clearer on Pong.
Danny, is a Czech basement an upgrade over Rotherham, or is it about the same?
Slightly less pedophiles...
@@I3IackSabbath But only slightly, unfortunately.
Of the many channels I see Simon on, this is my favourite, because I love watching him breaking down and breaking character. Also, Shaq Fu makes perfect sense. He is currently 1 win 0 losses in AEW, so clearly he is a master of fighting.
Nobody’s gonna doubt that you don’t do prep work for this channel Simon
Woooohoooo SAM you are one magnificent editor :D well it was an emotional rollercoaster during that ADHD session props to you all
I played Dragon's Lair in the Trocadero, waaaaaaaaay after it was released. xD That thing was bloody brilliant, seriously. Way ahead of its time.
I'm a bit surprised that in all the conversation about celebrity tie-ins to video games, there wasn't a single mention of "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out".
#CancelSimon#FreeETA
The tangents and the editing is just stuff of legends! Brilliant episode.
Virtual fishing games: where you actually catch the fish.
Loved the "Oh no!" edit! 🤣
Job simulators would be fine if, and only if, they allowed you to shut down entitled customers however you wanted.
12 gauge?
Remember the wrestler Shawn Michaels? Wouldn't it be sick to sweet chin music Karens and everyone claps
I spent all video after 5:11 repeating in my head "Rails...? RAILS??? BB was ON...RAILS...at some point? When?? Where do they lead? What???"
Simon busts his ass bringing us entertaining information, buy ALL OF HIS MERCH !!!
New meme for when Simon rabbles: "GET ON WITH IT!!!" - Monty Python
We are going to need to see Danny now, just to make sure he is not a sore ridden basement hostage. Poor Danny.
Next time I need a laugh, this is what I'll watch. Sam has turned the editing up to 11!! 🤣😎
This episode is a absolute train wreck and I positively love it. Thank you so much Simon and Danny.
Best BB I've seen in a while. Truly off the rails.
Perfection.
It’s getting really crowded in the basement Simon, let’s see we have Danny, Sam, Callum, and ETA. The oil for the handcuffs alone must be costing you a fortune. Just to let you know I’m available for personal protection from a basement revolt.
*famous last words...
They just use extra Beardblaze for oil
Video editing on point !!!!
Haha. While Simon was ranting about weird Japanese games i thought, wait till he hears about ero-ge.
Danny does not disappoint.
Mostly it's truck stops (Diesel stations for long haul trucks) that have buffets. Food quality ranges from school cafeteria to home cooking.
