Like the content and the breakdown of how your setting this one up. You mentioned that the 3 brackets on the bull bar could take spotties, but, I believe in Qld you can’t mount spot lights on top of the bull bar. (I could be wrong about this though, but worth investigating). Very interesting how your going with the tub canopy, which I hadn’t looked into, but am very interested in the Bush Company’s products. Keep ‘‘em coming. Like it . Onyas…….

10/10 for the front bar and lights! looks sic as!
Stage 2, um yeah I dig the Canopy, never like flexi canopy's myself, its a tool, not a prom dress!
Id def add sliders, rear bar, something tucked up, I hate low drawn rear bars on Utes myself!
Understand the budget and its a give away, but KISS is my motto, simple 12v system I like the fixed Go Block idea if ya can remove it for the tinny or swamp boat, nothing fancy for the fridge, just reliable mate. I'm hanging out for a Bush company awning in Army green, don't know if I'll go 270 or 180, I'm all about less weight, so still deciding, I d like the rear coverage idea, but then I also carry a super light tarp and its an 80 so it has in built tech and kitchen factory from Toyota, wheel carrier is a hanging pantry and storage rack, fold down bench and lift up roof awning, all free! though its small and I do get wet lol, hence the tarp, it takes bit longer to setup than a self standing awning, but its effective and super light super compact. I use carabiners with adjustable ropes so not hard, If I cant fit in a decent off grid tramping or army backpack apart from truck spares, tools and fridge, I wont carry it.
I dunno what else id add in stage 3 other than comms, definite must, maybe some canvas seat covers and sandgrabber floor mats, best thing I added to my 80, man they keep the mud and shit out, best interior mod I made after the XT seats, not sexy but functional, I guess you'd want camp lights another reason for a roof rack up front, oh got to have some mean as Flares looks a bit plain on the wheel arches for some bling yeah, my list fwiw mate 🤟.

Using a Hilux as a base is the biggest "budget" part so far. hahaha. The front end looks pretty damn good for a Lux Matty, nice choices for gear. I have 2 4WD's and have the Carbon 12,000lb winches on each, they are farkin awesome! The canopy looks OK but I personally prefer a full tourer setup. I think stage 3 could use some lighting, like you said, water storage, 12 volt setup, comm's, and maybe do something for dog owners to accommodate their dog/s (ramp for the dog to get in/out, water/food bowls, comfy bedding), I've NEVER seen that done before despite so many people taking dogs on tour with them. All in all, looking great so far mate. Oh, and by the way, I'll take the trailer with the boat on top thanks mate, get it cleaned up and ready for me to collect. hahaha. Cheers brother and say HI to Nav for me.

Water.... you will need water to stay longer than a few days. By the way Matt, that awning is choice.

It's coming together nicely. I reckon you should put a counter in the screen for for many times you say "guys" 😂😂😂
Speaking as someone who couldn't afford to buy this vehicle stock standard before modding, my advice to those who, like me, don't have the money to do something like this, is to take yours from these builds and find cheaper products. I built my current 12v and drawer system myself mainly because I can't afford Redarc and Dometic and I'm actually struggling to save money to buy a roof rack. Just because you don't have the budget that others have, doesn't mean that you can't set up a vehicle that you can your with. It just means that you may take longer and not have all the best stuff. It's not worth getting upset about. There are other people in RUclips who do low budget build stuff. The bottom line is that even doing it on a low budget is still gonna cost. Just enjoy the videos people. Enter the comp and maybe you'll win and save yourself a shit ton of money in a build. If not, like I said, get your from these vids and then source cheaper products.

Exactly right mate, there's different brands and quality levels that serve different parts of the market. I won't promote average quality gear that I wouldn't put on my own truck but that's not to say cheaper options don't exist! Do what you can with your own budget and get out and explore. That's what it's all about 💪

I had an ARB fibreglass canopy on my 07 hilux, With internal supports it was rated to 350kg. I don’t know where you’re coming from about wasted space. In comparison how much are these South African canopies ?

I dont bother with Spottys now. New car headlights are great. Dont drive much at night. If ihave too i go a bit slower.
    Would rather have more airflow.

Rhino canopy nice however all tubs split welds below near taillights eventually so wonder if this will speed that up. Had colorado rc canopy on back then took it off and put rooftop tent on canopy and after 330 000km the tub started splitting asked around and happens a lot with tubs
