Well Done! I’m in the US & primarily have stacked Gold Eagles, Buffalos & Maples - But enjoy watching Your videos & seeing the different types of Sovereigns & RM coins. I also have a nice stack of Gold Britannias, but the rest You typically show, are new to Me ~AGM
Thanks for dropping by. I've had the odd Buffalo/ Eagle and Maples but like you tend to stick to what's most common on my side of the pond haha. I still think Buffalo is probably my favourite coin although it makes more sense for me to stack Brits
Great collection! I am distracted right now, also, ha ha! I mostly do generic silver bullion. I also buy the new gold US Buffaloes and Eagles, and good (not collectible) pre-1933. Now, my distraction is the Tudor Beasts, I never thought about collecting sets of anything. I have been getting the BU Lions, here in the US, the premiums for generics are so high, it's really not much more to just buy some quality and interesting stuff from the Royal Mint. I think distractions can be good, as long as it is rational, it makes everything more fun. I'm just glad that I lucked into discovering the Tudor series at the beginning, it will be easy to eventually have a complete set as they come out (except for the Proofs, I won't do that).
Yes there are a lot of distractions. If I can get something that has decent potential (like the first Tudor Beast coins) for the same or marginally more than generic I will. Maybe they will do like the Queen's Beasts did, we'll see
@@YG-fm2wv Some solid points there, I know what you mean, a modern bullion coin even at lower mintage isn't as impressive to me either. Coins with such an age are true history in your hand
Nothing wrong with some variety. I had planned to buy nothing but one ounce gold Eagles but I watched a RUclips video about fractionals and I suddenly wanted variety. Now I like different types, sizes and categories.
You need to stack your coins vertically 😆 Sovs are great. I still buy them even though I have to pay 10% GST. Their look, history, weight, durability etc makes it the perfect stacking coin to be used as money
Can you help me with something, I have 2 half sovereigns and a full one from Chards. The halves I bought from Rhyl coin and stamp in north wales. He told me that all sovereigns are either 21.6 or 21.8 k. That was before I purchased my two Half's, he pulled out his xrf machine and the two I bought came up as 21.6 and the other 21.8 and he assured me all the (many) sovereigns in his shop were to that standard. Since learning a lot more on numismatics I'm a little concerned. I have had other dealers look at them in fine detail and reassure me there genuine.
If you've had multiple dealers look at the coins in person and assure you they are genuine I wouldn't be worried. There is a level of tolerance with testing equipment and indeed the coins themselves. It would be difficult to get a counterfeit sovereign to pass many tests. For eg, we could make a coin with a cheaper metal that's copying a sovereign and get the weight spot on but then we would likely fail the other dimension measurements. We could use genuine gold but likely fail the visual test. If you want to email me some photos I'd be happy to take a look if they're clear and detailed and I can perhaps share photos of mine if I have the same dates but in your position I would trust the judgement of multiple experienced dealers over mine 👍🏼
Hey, what tubes do your store your 1 oz Britannia capsules. I asked you before which capsules you used and you sent the link, so thanks for that. But totally forgot to ask what tubes they can be stored in for 10 Britannias
The one I have in the style of the sovereign tubes I use doesn't seem to be in stock currently. a 40mm inner diameter fits my 1 Oz gold Brits within their capsules so this tube should work but it isn't very tall so won't fit a lot in. I'll keep looking and see if they come back in stock soon www.bullionbypost.co.uk/accessories/coin-tubes/empty-tube-coinsafe-medallion-40mm/

Vintage Gold coins of any type should not be stacked. They need to be protected as any scratches etc. will lower their numismatic value. While it will not affect their value bullion wise,it would be good, to help preserve them for future generations.
That's a good point, for the coins that have been preserved and kept in great condition it is remarkable really to think what they have gone through and some still remain almost unmarked from hundreds of years ago
Im surprised, how do you manage to stack so heavily when you say that you've got other investment. Would you say that gold is the biggest portion of your portfolio? Just curious.
Hi, gold I consider part of long term savings rather than in my investment 'pot' although there may be a day where I sell a large portion of the stack to take advantage of a deal or opportunity before building it back up. I'm not sure what the future holds. Gold is a pretty small portion though if I were to include it
