A kilo of gold is about 120 full sovereigns, enough to inflation proof retirement fiat income for 10 - 12 years. Saving for 20 years at 6 sovereigns a year is probably the best private pension fund that one can rely on. I didnt start saving sovereigns until I was in my early 60s, so its never too late. Any significant bullion gold you have, is more than most people have, so get it while you still can.
Happy to say I crossed the kilo mark in 2020, and now 25% of the way to a second kilo, with 90 kilos of silver for icing on the cake. I have sold silver to trade for gold, but never the other way around. Even with higher premiums for silver, sometimes it's easier to pick up 10oz or so of silver at a time with intentions of eventually flipping for gold rather than sitting on cash that may get spent before there's enough of it for an ounce of gold.

I agree. My original aim was to have enough sovereigns to sell one a month for first 5 years of retirement (60 coins ) , but I didn't stop when I reach that goal. Don't buy larger weights though a) too expensive b) you can't break it up if you only need to liquidate a small part. Stick to a combination of 1/4oz and 1oz sizes.

Fun fact is that the central banks of all the major currency areas are either holding or striving towards about 1 ounce of gold per capita.

2 oz are a lot for me and never that I would have that, but DAMN man. That is a gorgeous stack that I hope to be able to have one day. I’m averaging 1 to every 100 oz’s of silver.
Only have a little over half a kilo in 11 years of stacking but if the gold silver ratio narrows a little more I'm going to trade it for gold. Silver takes up to much space in my safe.

No banville for you my friend. No doubt that there are a lot of youtubers that have very profitable affiliate links in their descriptions and it is very good for their channels to create hype and get lots of ad revenue. Trust me, some of the channels around my size are earning $5000 per month or more in affiliate bonus codes to bullion dealers - some probably a lot more. I have been offered many affiliate programmes, never taken them because its not what I am about or what this channel is about.
Just started collecting gold and silver about 3 months ago. I'm up to 70 ounces and 6 grams of gold. Little by little!!! I have always been a coin collector for about 4 yrs. Nice video!!!!
You are quite right. Silver premiums are too high right now. I will still buy some in the near future but a lot less than I have over the last few months. I am slowly accumulating fractional gold (that's all I can afford at present). The premiums are high there too but it's still a better deal than silver at the moment. I want to accumulate a few ounces before it does become "unobtanium".
100% agree with gold better then silver. I don’t think silver is better then stocks. I guess it depends on the stock but I love getting dividends, these dividends fund my metals. I also lucked out and got a huge win on the stock market that helped fund my property. Don’t get me wrong, I love silver, but it does not pay me. Gold is king. Even if it doesn’t pay me I think it’s worth is. Great video
A kilo of gold is all the money the worlds poorest people earn during their entire lifetime. An average African family's total earnings are 1 krugerrand, 1 ounce, a year.
@@BackyardBullion hope you know I was teasing...you are one hundred percent brilliant! Love your videos, thoughts and very AWESOME items you make! From the state of Kansas you ROCK!
In the 20th century, the vast majority of countries in the world had there currency collapse. Causes were war, hyper inflation etc, etc. Many places had this happen more than once. To out 20 or 25%of your savings into precious metals, is a rational, reasonable option. I bought silver, before we left the EU, not really looking to buy any more. My local dealer keepsake selling out. There's huge demand for real, actual gold. Find more good local dealer, great value, buy when you can afford to. Especially as interest rates are roughly zero.
Nice treasure! I fully agree that gold is preferable to silver. Reason number one is that it can be obtained for far less premium as a percentage of spot. I have lots of silver too, but I will be selling much of that to buy more gold.
On rewatching there is a comment I'd like to make. In the UK a gold grab happened as recently as the 1960s when the Labour government were sick of the UK Pound going abroad and being exchanged for gold and brought into the country. Quite simply people were fighting against a weakening Pound through physical gold accumulation so the Government reduced ownership to a limit of four coins, two gold and two silver. Think it can't happen again? I don't.
Love your vids...great selection of coins there too. I'm considering stacking some bullion but at age 60 I'm not sure if it's worth it. Have I left it too late?
I’m currently moving house but looking at starting to slowly accumulate gold and more silver (when I see the in laws in Canada for obvious reasons). I am lucky enough to have been inside the federal reserve vaults in New York City... one word amazing
You say gold is the safer bet. I think silver is equally as safe and depending on the ratio a much better purchase at times. I started stacking only 2 and a half years ago. 100 oz of silver use to equal 1 oz of gold. Now that 100 oz of silver I stacked is equal to 1 ½ oz of gold. I believe Silver is still the better bet, and I will be taking advantage of this ratio when we get closer to a 45-50 to 1 silver to gold. Last year at the same time I picked up a 1/10 oz gold eagle and a 10 oz Britannia Silver Bar. Roughly the same price but now the silver will net me 50% more in return. Why would gold be safer then silver?
I think I understand I listened to the rest of the video. Certainly silver is harder to find at a reasonable premium right now. I have also been adding more gold lately to my silver mix.
It’ll take me a year to save enough for 1 ounce on my wage 😔, I got close to 30 Oz of silver as that is easier for me to buy right now. You are right though, the premiums are so high even I’m now hesitant to buy more silver.

There is a lot of fear pushing and hype all to fuel affiliate bonus codes and youtube ad revenue. Some of these youtubers in the US are earning thousands of $ every month from the fear they are pushing. We speak a much more down to earth approach.
A kilo of gold is 1000gms, at just one step at a time that might equate to 100 steps over the long term. Just downsizing a property in later life can leapfrog any home owner to achieve just that 1k of gold. If, prior to downsizing, you could have already achieved that target, doubling that target could be a reality.

Though there is one little, tiny problem with the one kilo of gold per person......there's only about 1 ounce of gold per person on earth available. Fun fact is that the central banks of all the major currency areas are either holding or striving towards about 1 ounce of gold per capita.
Yes, indeed it is not possible for everyone to own a kilo of gold.
So, what is the sales argument for customers buying the high premium silver that you sell in your business ? ....surely you must believe in it ?
My products are not marketed as investment products nor are they mass produced. When you buy a piece of poured silver you are paying for the art, the uniqueness and the enjoyment of the piece.
A Kilo of Gold... how wealthy do you think we RUclips obsessed millennials are? 🤣
Ha, well its not about buying it all right now, but over time it is very easy to save money and put it into precious metals, gold specifically.
@@BackyardBullion 'very easy' - have you heard of the phrase "paycheck to paycheck " and do you know how many people live in poverty in your own country? Mate I love most of your videos but this video really parades your ignorance as to the reality of how the majority of people live.
Well, you are entitled to your opinion and I get that a lot of people have issues saving but I also know a lot of people that have issues saving money also spend their money irresponsibly. I'm not saying that everyone is doing this, many don't. Think what you think, this video was never intended as a parade of wealth, and let's be perfectly honest across all my videos showing precious metals for the last 5 years you could say the same thing. So, I will have to respectfully disagree with the majority of your statement and hope you can continue to watch and enjoy my content
@@BackyardBullion I absolutely will.
Good stuff, glad to hear it. Thanks for sharing though
Gold is king! I am on the slow and steady plan. It truly is surprising how it all adds up. People need to stop making excuses why not to buy gold and just do it!
Yep, I agree.
I'm at about 3oz GOLD,,,,
Nice, only 29 more oz to go until a kilo!
Today I completed my first kilo of gold .. a journey started almost 15 months ago 🥇
that's an amazing achievement. well done!
My aim for the time being is to get a full sovereign a month. Do you think it's better to buy them preowned or new?
I like the prospect and I will more than likely own a kilo soon ish, starting now at age 24 buying 1oz-10oz a year. However I feel current market situations demand more progressive buying of silver than gold
Great to hear, thanks for sharing!
2 oz are a lot for me and never that I would have that, but DAMN man. That is a gorgeous stack that I hope to be able to have one day. I’m averaging 1 to every 100 oz’s of silver.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's a very nice ratio you have there.
Only have a little over half a kilo in 11 years of stacking but if the gold silver ratio narrows a little more I'm going to trade it for gold. Silver takes up to much space in my safe.
Thanks for sharing, yes silver is very very bulky and not good for storage en masse
Beautiful collection! I love those centenarios! Thanks for your thoughts!
Thanks, they are awesome, my favourite coin of all
I started Stacking since 2019 and I could stack 1kg gold and few hundred oz of silver. I needed to slow down as stacking was addictive.
BYB thanks for another great video. Your gold stack is looking great... I have that final Queen's Beast coin on order to complete my set... (1/4 ounce size in all the rest) So beautiful! I could only afford the Una and the Lion bar in silver 10 ounce. I will continue to buy gold as I am able to. In three years I have managed to buy just over 12 ounces of gold on a senior's pension very tight budget. My Silver is over 320 ounces now... Saying hello from Vancouver Island.
thank you very much indeed, thats a nice sounding stack you have going there too, thanks for sharing!
Loving the gold.. few Oz's behind but striving for that kilo!!!!
Nice, its a very satisfying moment when you get there!
Don't have a kilo of gold but I have that in silver, a number of times over. Eventually I'll get there with gold. Slow and steady over time.
For sure, it has to be slow and steady with gold
I think the biggest conspiracy out there is all the stacking channels I follow have all switched to gold overnight,,, all at the exact same time. Is there a RUclipsr cabal out there?
I don't think so, I think they are just knowledgeable investors and have made up their mind that silver is not as good as gold right now.
@@BackyardBullion yourself excluded as it's a ramble but over the last few months where do you think the majority of new investors would have put their money based upon RUclips content? Please don't put me in bansville but I can see a influx of second hand bullion coming through now as people have been sold a pipe dream.
@@marc3006 I think a lot of people will have put it into crypto
@@andyhepburn6855 me included. I stopped using all my budget for silver a little while ago. Mainly split it between gold and crypto now.
I do love gold. I have about a half oz. I have been working on my ancient coin collection as much as possible. Mostly roman and Greek.
Just started collecting gold and silver about 3 months ago. I'm up to 70 ounces and 6 grams of gold. Little by little!!! I have always been a coin collector for about 4 yrs. Nice video!!!!
Good stuff, keep going!
Excellent video, very nice gold. Yankee Stacking is a great channel. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🤩👃🏻
He sure is
You are quite right.
Good to hear, thanks for sharing
I enjoyed this. I agree, it’s a good goal overtime. New to stacking so I’m at 1/2 an oz lol
I did some calculations and there happens to be of all the gold ever mined roughly 3/4 an ounce per person alive.
Great video
Definitely better than stacking paper money....
For sure 😎
100%!
The completer. Perfect. Also like the Royal arms lions.
A kilo of gold is all the money the worlds poorest people earn during their entire lifetime.
An average African family's total earnings are 1 krugerrand, 1 ounce, a year.
I have only 28 oz of gold but silver...... thats a different story.
Ill probably play the ratio soon
U MUST play the ratio to grow up your Depot.
See my post below
Sry for my bumpy english. I am a kraut. 😁🤣
Sounds like a plan to me!
Those Britannias are beautiful!
They are some of the best made bullion coins out there.
Hi, I bought a couple of the boxes for the 1oz gold beasts with the name plates for each coin look much better in the boxes than scattered everywhere
Great to know, thanks!
If you bought the same QB box as me, it holds a tray of 2oz silver, a tray of 1oz gold and a tray of 1/4oz gold.
Love the pesos! Thank you for your input(put a tad of platinum in that stack) stay safe and stack on!!!
I do have some platinum in my stack too.
@@BackyardBullion hope you know I was teasing...you are one hundred percent brilliant! Love your videos, thoughts and very AWESOME items you make! From the state of Kansas you ROCK!
Didn't think anything else otherwise!?
I have lots of silver too, but I will be selling much of that to buy more gold.
looking forward to getting started.
I'd love to. Currently at 755g.
I've managed to claw since 2015 57 ounces....its a grind but well worth it 👌
On rewatching there is a comment I'd like to make.
Hear, hear! Great video!
We think alike I think, judging on your content recently anyway :-)
Yep would love to have more gold BUT I don't have the cash for it like most!
Yeah, it is very hard to justify the premiums in my head, hence the move to gold.
@@BackyardBullion I am quite new to stacking but I’ve watched a load of your videos and some from the crazy yanks across the pond, saving for the apocalypse. Your vids are definitely more interesting and informative. Theirs just make me think the world will end next Thursday..as you always say, it’s about buying responsibly. I have a tight couple of months coming up so I won’t be buying any PMs as I have higher priorities, but after that I’ll see what I can get. Fingers crossed that the market will have calmed down and prices drop a bit. I want me a 10oz bar..
There is a lot of fear pushing and hype all to fuel affiliate bonus codes and youtube ad revenue. Some of these youtubers in the US are earning thousands of $ every month from the fear they are pushing. We speak a much more down to earth approach.
Congrats on having the silver! Premiums are nuts now, 'tis true.
I bought another 50 sovereigns today thats 250 now and 2500 oz of silver Britannias im hooked
Understand value and valuation.
In 1914, Henry Ford started paying his line workers $5 a day.
That was .24187 of gold for a day's wages.
Yeah, I get that but if you equate that to todays gold price that is $413 per day and not out of the realms of possibility for some people right now.
A kilo of gold is 32 full years of minimal wage for me :(
Oh, well; gram by gram then ;)
Slowy slowly!
If only I came across this video 2 years ago, it was so much cheaper than what it is worth now 😢
Yeah, you're not wrong!
@@BackyardBullion love the video by the way learnt so much
You are too kind!
Thanks for sharing the thoughts on owning gold. Do you think that accumulating gold for retirement is a good long term goal?
Oh my goodness BYB! That's quite a stack of gold! 🤣
Thanks, glad you like it!
Im american and strictly stack gold britianas from 2021 and up because of the security features
65 kilos is 143lbs., my fellow Americans.
Onlly 11 oZ of gold. Been stacking only this year
Thats a kilo by the end of the year then!
Im on my way i got a few ounces of gold. And i got 22 ounces of silver. Hopefully i get to trade up some day silver to gold
Beautiful collection. Where are your maples?
I still like the white shiny things but the yellow shiny things are great
They are very nice for sure!
Thats a lot of gold on the table 😍😍
Love watching these videos, only stacking a couple years, mainly Sovereign coins at minute though but sure it's all the same when the inevitable comes
Glad to hear you like the videos, thanks!
@@BackyardBullion you're welcome, I've about 7oz now so quarter way there lol
that gold though! jeez laweez! gorgeous stack backyard!
Thanks!
Wow BYB that is an incredible sight, Congratulations if you just hit 1Kg. I know you are not into full stack videos so maybe you already have 2-3 🤣
Just goes to show what hard work, smart choices and discipline can achieve.
I’m expecting to cross the 1Kg goal by year’s end if all goes to plan. Looking at each coin I’ve saved up for and purchased along the way I find much more rewarding than just buying a 1Kg bar.
Thank you for the feedback my friend, appreciate you stopping by and commenting!
Lovely collection. Most attractive.
Thanks a lot!
@@BackyardBullion My pleasure.
Next price target: $2800/oz. (hopefully £60-70k for 1kg gold)
We will see, I don't think it will get there any time soon.
