As a Cambodian, my tear drop while watching this! Corruption from the top of the government to the bottom. We are relying on the international for help while it is ignoring us. Only few foreigners dare to stand up and fight for to keep the nature alive in Cambodia. So sad!!! 😢. I wish the international will come together and put a stop to that. I will definitely join the movement, and I believe more and more Cambodian will join the fight to keep their country safe!

However,ordinary citizens alone can not protect these forests,when the so-called “governments”are actually involved in logging themselves, it’s dangerous for the people. This is very challenging to face. Chut Vuthy,was shot and killed,when he challenged face to face with the loggers. On top of that,there are Vietnamese involvements in tree loggings also. I had witnessed once,at night time,in Kompongspeu Province. There was a truck driven into the forest with a big chainsaw machine hauled by a big truck . In order to save these precious forests,the corrupted governments must be removed from powers.
We need to work on saving this national park from government corruption, private companies, and greed. Cambodia is a beautiful country, and to destroy the beauty of it for, GREED is such a selfish act. Ethic groups who have lived in the areas for years are relocated and now have to suffer because of the result of deforestation. We need to work together to end this!! Cambodia and suffered from war, famine, and genocide. Cambodia doesn’t receive much help from the west. They need to develop and if deforestation is the way then so be it.
Cambodia gets huge assistance from the west and Japan. Most infrastructure in every town - water supply, wastewater collection & treatment, solid waste collection & landfills, drains, roads etc etc have been provided by the collective west & Japan over the last 30 years.

Hard to tell a young politician that when he doesn’t have the wealth he wants yet. Similarly property owners who have nothing may sell their land, or pressured into selling, only for short term gain. Pol Pot did a number on this country by killing all the educated people. I live in Thailand part time and during the burning season the smoke from all regions is awful, while slowly getting regulated in Thailand, the satellite heat maps shows unregulated fires in Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
