Tried to recover financially from my wedding within the first year - failed. Tried to keep it under $8000 but by the end it was close to $20000. Im basically broke and barely living paycheck to paycheck.
Why would you do that? If you budgeted for a specific amount nothing or nobody should make you go overboard now your living by pay checks at who's cost??? The same people you went all out for should be there to support you now. Planning my wedding soon and I swear I will cancel and just do me, fiance and pastor if my budget will 'affect' anyone!

I was the opposite of a bridezilla a fire changed our courthouse the day of (the fire started the day before) and I was like IDK where I'm getting married today as I am waking up and I was still trying to help my mom with her hair and everyone else get ready I was last to get ready since everyone was helping me but obviously they had to get ready too. It was the perfect day even though everything changed last minute. The key was I was never set on a picture-perfect wedding. Our big wedding next year is still planned as a potluck in the park with a backyard BBQ vibe.
One aspect I don’t think is mentioned all that frequently is that some brides can get depressed after the wedding is done. You don’t expect it because you should be elated, but all that time spent in planning mode is suddenly gone. Really tricky for task oriented people like myself.

I was under a lot of stress (duh) between planning the wedding, going to college, figuring out where I was going to live, and going to work. He made some comment as a joke and I was stressed out that day because I was running late to a venue tour, and I had somewhere else to be later that day and he had said something about not letting my mom help me plan the wedding, I needed to do it myself (again, college, work, and seeing him while feeling like garbage because I was pregnant). I stormed off after his comment, and cried. Then he came after me and we talked it out and he apologized and explained himself more and things were all good.

The ring was way too big. I had one of those sizer things on it to keep it on as it's rhodiated silver with a mystic topaz and couldn't be resized without risking dammaging the band and the stone. I later got a replacement one for it so i could still wear a ring but not risk losing it. I still have the original ring, safely saved in the original box.
I lost my wedding band after 8months🙈 would have been worse if I had lost the engagement ring, it was way more expensive! Half a year has passed and I’m still not sure if we should repurchase it🤔
