This song and “Intro 3” is the reason why I can’t choose between “The Search” and “Perception” when it come to favorite album. “The search” is a masterpiece but there is no song on it that can compete with “Remember This” and “Intro 3”. NF is such an amazing artist, all his music are real.
This is why “Remember This” is one of NF best music lyrically cuz it so real and it’s so important for ppl to listen to. This song has a lot of messages in it for ppl to learn from.

I'm so glad you included this on the journey. So many people pass over it due to the fact that there isn't a video. So much truth in this song. I do think that it's a part of the journey, though. He revisits his other emotions (joy, happiness, anger, regret, fear), and how they are liars (foreshadowing to Change, Let Me Go, The Search). It also has throw backs to past songs sprinkled through it (Wait, Outro, All I Have, Real, Intro, Mansion, Intro III).

Love your work guys! Lex I definitely think the same as you, always understand your analogies. What you're saying about regrets and mistakes is great. We all make mistakes and usually regret them, but what happens next can be different: sometimes we find that we enjoyed it more than we regretted it and keep doing it ( become "friends" with the mistake); other times our lives are impacted greatly by the regret and make the changes, or even become mentally affected by them - which NF expresses in most of his music - in which case we do not become "friends" with the mistakes.

This song had me reflecting on what Brad was expressing for the last Harry Mack EE reaction. He said people expect him to have a certain perspective just because of his skin color. It seems like people want you to think and feel a certain way and you’re more in line with what NF is talking about. Think for yourself don’t let other people do it for you. So much respect to you for that Brad. That’s a form of courage and I have to give it up to you for doing that.
The way i see it is, parents want the best for their kids. they've spent their whole lives soul searching and reflecting, finding their peace. It's ok to raise your kids with those values and ethics, and it's ok to be scared when they don't vibe with it. BUT, allow them to ask questions and learn. allow them to find their own peace with open minds and respect flowing both ways.

She was 100% right about her interpretation on the “mistakes are not your friends” line. Its not just the fact that we are not tied to our mistakes. Its that, just because something helped you grow, doesn’t mean its a good thing. Its like when people say “I wouldn’t change a thing about my past because that made me, me.” Thats nonsense. We would all change certain parts of our past if we had the chance. To not do so is precisely to act like these things were good, or necessary. We can appreciate the growth without appreciating the mistake or whatever formed us. Thats what I think that line was about.
There is some life advice in this song that is so powerful, these 4 especially have stuck with me over the years: - Perfect people don’t exist so don’t pretend to be one - Always be yourself not the person that you pretend to be - We waste a lot of time crying over wasted time - My biggest failures in life are knowing I never tried 🎶

No I completely agree with what she’s saying, your saying mistakes don’t make your identity but to me what she’s saying is that just cause you can make a positive (grow) out of a mistake, doesn’t mean your friends (as in don’t keep going back to mistakes just cause it led to something positive)
