    i plan to move to Sweden into the future (I'm American) I'm learning Swedish as we speak, but i am a bit behind, and I only know some basic sentences. Grammar is easy for me, and so is the pronunciation. My mother is from Sweden which is where my mom taught me the accent when speaking, but that's about it. I want to go around the Goteborg area. (my family is from Skåne!)

    We find your video on youtube and you are doing amazing job putting time and effort to highlight people on lofe in sweden.
    We have some questions, and she's wondering if it is worth it to become a nurse in sweden ans work as a nurse ( passing exam and learning swidish) . we've heard its not enough well-paid as much as in the US

      It really depends. I started making 3,600 dollars a month as a nurse in a hospital setting and heard of travel nurses here making as much as 5,500 a month in some places. I just got my nurse practitioner degree approved this week which should increase my pay soon as well.

    Nice to see that things are going great for you, man! 😃Also,Malmö gets a lot of hate, but that's usually from people who never go there and don't know what they're talking about. Sure, crime's been going up a bit in Malmö, but there no real reason to feel afraid. And that's coming from someone who lives in Lund.😉

    I feel myself in the total opposite (or not total, I am still in Sweden) than you. I am looking to move to the US from Sweden. I have lived here all my life except for half a year in Norway and a year in Australia 13 years ago (I loved it in Australia!) But now my heart feels drawn to the US. I dont feel like I belong in the swedish culture although I am native. I would also prefer more outgoing folks around me and I also have a very hard time dealing with the cold and darkness in autumn and winter (and spring, is still cold too... I would probably be more of a "Miami type person" if I would move to the US) You applied for a work visa here I guess? Just found this channel so gonna check it out a bit further. I have actually been looking for videos liket his but in the reverse (Swede living in the US) but havent found any channels like that! It is however interesting to see these videos as well with Americans moving here and how you view the differences in the culture and what not. I think there would be lots of things I would totally Loooove about the States and also lots of things I would'nt like so much. But I would still wanna move there anyway. If not, as you say... for experience. But, I have no clue how to do it, lol... Getting married seems like the "easiest" way, except finding love is super hard!

    • @becurious2000

      Fascinating. One of the cool things about humanity is that there is so much variation among us, where we thrive best. It can be quite fluid too. I might do well in Sweden but perhaps that can change in the future. The thing about America is it’s very big so there are a lot of different environments and places to see. I loved living in Alaska. It was practically another country. Hawaii was nice too, before the fires 😢

    As a Swede i want to say that Malmö is a city that has gone thru a bog downwird spiral. Caused by a big migration from the middle East. And they take There bad behavior with them. À LOT of Swedish people feel that Malmö is lost. Personly i would never live there.

      Glad to hear Swede talk about migration because that’s a big reason I want to leave the U.S. the borders are wide open here and the citizens are not intelligent enough to understand the ramifications of unfettered access. Even with properly managed legal migration if they are not assimilated into the culture foreigners simply makes worst for everyone.

      I actually do not have citizenship. It’s not an easy process if you have no family connections or relationships here. It takes at least 5 years before you can apply to citizenship. I am hoping to apply for permanent residency in a year and a half.

    I moved from Chicago to Gothenburg about 6 months ago and I love I can walk the city at night with NO fear. I’m struggling with the language though, I only know the basics but Swedes appreciate the effort. Chicago alone had 30 shootings and 5 killed including a 5 year old girl just over this past memorial weekend!!!!

      Yea. I do feel a lot safer in Sweden than I did in Texas. I literally was so scared of being killed in my own home in Texas. I have never had that fear inside my home in Sweden. I will say it is getting more unsafe outside in Malmö. I posted a video about getting physically attacked in Malmö. I however am moving to Limhamn which is much safer and calmer

    Do you just speak English as a nurse in Sweden? Curious how that would work.

    • @becurious2000
      @becurious2000  Год назад

      Really good question. I speak Swedish 99 percent of the time on the job. I actually speak
      Swedish everyday between 80-90 percent of the time for everyday life. I do have every now and then, patients who really want to speak English to practice speaking it since they do not get a lot of opportunities as they are elderly and alone. Perhaps they lived abroad in the states or Australia for example when they were young and miss speaking English. I find it a little hard to switch rapidly between the two since I have been so focused on speaking Swedish as much as I can. I actually now have a fellow American coworker and we might speak English with each other if we are alone on a lunch break or something, but I try to be mindful of those around us and usually switch back to Swedish even with her if others are around.
