Lilo and Stitch was in Hawaii, so in the movie they were speaking Hawaiian but in Moana they are speaking Samoan and I believe another language from the islands of Polynesia.
In Moana, it seemed to be a mix of Samoan and Hawaiian cultures. Since they have Chiefs which is a Samoan hierarchy, but they have hawaiian elements as well. And as you said, there are other polynesian cultures mixed in too.
Just curious as to why you find Lilo and Stitch irritating? Not saying you should like it, but I just find it kind of weird because most people I talk to like Lilo and Stitch. That movie was also praised for being very experimental and unconventional from other Disney movies especially during its time.
I think Lilo and Stitch is beautiful but I do find the alien bits personally irritating. I loved the celebration of Hawaiian culture and the sadness around it, I cared very little about the largely uncreative alien storylines beyond the design aspect.
I'm definitely subbing to your Patreon next week. I've never got on a Patreon before but I love the fact you don't care about spoilers, you react to all the music before watching the movies. And you're fun to watch. This is my favorite channel. Frill
This is just my opinion, but I feel like you should read an extended synopsis or something of these movies before reacting to the songs cuz a lot of the assumptions you make about the story just aren't right and it takes up a lot of time in the video 🤷
It doesn't make the video longer when you're making those comments while watching the video, those comments are being made instead of other kinds of comments and since they're just not based on fact, and those facts are well known by almost everyone watching these reactions, I just feel like that time is better spent talking about other things about the video/song.
I disagree. A part of what makes the videos great is the fact that he's reacting blindly & using context clues to try to figure it out. His assumptions don't have to be right, especially since he'll eventually watch the movies anyway. I believe that's the point of it being a reaction, to gauge what he thinks about the songs with no prior influence.
Most time when its for voyages like the one in the movie the men were the ones who goes out to sea first to scout and look for another island to inhabit before moving the whole village of people there. They were mad at Moana because not only was the sea dangerous, voyaging was a man's duty. Her being the next in line to be village chief also played a role to why she wasn't allowed to go explore.
I didn't remember anything from the movie that gender has anything to do with them forbidding Moana. NO ONE, neither men nor women, was allowed to go past the reefs because of a (SPOILER) terrible accident that happened to him and his friend when they tried to go past the reef. His friend died while he survived.
@@natt07048 I was relating more based on historical accuracy with how Pacific Islanders voyages. Cuz in the video he asked why he didn't see any women on the boats.
They were actually mad at her because everyone thought it was dangerous to go out after people died out at sea. Loved your channel and the movie!

@@marckiesan1484 ohh okay. Thanks for the info!
Historically accurate, probably idk, not movie accurate, there women on the boat and gender plays no/small role, depending, in Moana
We'll bring up Lilo and Stich to haunt you from now on
