God i love these cars. I have an 08 up on a lift in my garage right now that needs a good bit of work at 146k miles. Complete rebuild incoming. Ideally ill be completely restoring it. Like, remove every bolt, replace every piece of rubber/bushing and every mechanical part that wears like alternator, starter, hpfps, all the sensors and relays, wire brush the entire frame, cover/protect with rustoleum or some equivalent, rebuild the engine and trans, switch it to a rear lsd, update the stereo/console to something a little more in line with todays tech, and then put it all back together. Monster project, but if i succeed, it'll be my lifetime achievement and i will enjoy it accordingly.
Got my b7 8 months ago, 93K, sight unseen but a full service history (all black avant) a few problems like the back windscreen wiper which comes on at random, pretty big pannel gap on the bonnet like many... omg though it's the perfect car, does everything you want but times 11. This car wil see me out happily. Your just driving a normal car and then when you put your foot down it transforms into a bona-fide nascar with a V8 scream at 8000rpm as you hit 100 in 3rd, soooo awesome!
@@chriscollis9315 yeah that's the nice thing it's just a normal A4 wiper, guy quoted me £40 for the wiper and I'm not giving him more than £20 to fit it it's like a 5 minute job.
Im 47 and im selling my toys an goin for a saloon iv loved them since day 1 and il be the same . Hopefully my last car cs to be honest nothing else intrests me 😂 i can not wait 😊
@@djdanfetish1 Nice! Forget what I said about it being a normal car when you drive it normally, you only have to breathe on the throttle and you're off prety quick it's so easy and effortless, it's always making lovely V8 noises and pops and bangs like distant thunder every time you come off the throttle. I end up cackling to myself out loud like a child multiple times every time I'm out in it. Hope you have a great time too.
Had mine 7 years now. It's a 2nd car. I'll never sell it. They do benefit immensely though from a carbon clean and a stage 2 mrc map. It transforms the car.
This is truly the best car (saloon) ever made. Tuned it goes like a scalded cat and sounds like a screaming banshee at 7k revs in a tunnel. You can go holiday with the family, skiing, racing around the Nurburgring, driving through torrential rain and snow with ease. On coil overs corner weighted and the geometry set up correctly, there is no understeer. Tuned and delimited it will do 194mph, and its the gearbox which stops it doing 200mph not the engine.
Thats crazy I rented a 355 in Hawaii for a week loved it lots but to be completely honest ! I own a b7 rs4 would trade it for the 355 swear ! Love everything about b7 rs4 😊
I thought this was a really good review. Focused on the drive (which is surely what anyone looking at these kind of cars wants to know) and great to see it tested objectively over a variety of roads, in order to get a real feel for what it’s like. Want one of these next!
The b7 rs4 has been a dream car of mine since seeing it on top gear all them years ago,I want a sprint blue saloon just like this one, maybe one day 🤞,good review 👍
Yes I’m the same. Love my A4 b7 special edition.. but always wanted a RS4 since watching Clarkson’s review. Just cant bring myself to pay out top money for tax which is over £600!
I've run mine as daily for years. Even now going for fuel still takes ages as someone always comes up says awesome car and we have a chat. In fact it's getting worse I can't go anywhere with her without thumbs up 😁
The burble from these is quite intoxicating. Having owned 9 Audi's and the current one on an 07 plate has no rattles, squeaks or loose trim anywhere, testament to well put together cars.
Great review. That rs4 is the perfect spec imo. I'd love to own one someday, this and a 3 door mk5 R32 have a special place in my heart. Only problem I have, and it will upset some purests, if I ever do own a b7 rs4, I will have to dsg/s-tronic swap it as I had surgery on my spinal cord in 2019 and have not been able to use a clutch since. Heres to dreaming.
I keep watching older RS4 Videos at Night to get me motivated to fix mine sleeping in the Garage. Everything on this Car is expensive to fix ugh. Not to mention Parts availability.
Good review. I think it's very valuable to learn how the car performs in real UK conditions. If I want a car to drive on track, I'll buy a car specifically for track days. And I couldn't care less about Nurburgring times! With this car it's important to know how the engine in the nose affects the handling on the road. On track it would be different. And on an unsealed rally course different again, but you surely wouldn't want to race your pride and joy on an unsealed road...
I've driven the sprint blue RS4 *BRAND NEW* .. Most unforgettable experience. I could never forget how it slammed me back in the seat in a micro second!!!!
Good review were you in sport and is the suspension stock? 440 BHP questionable even from MRC. The gearbox loosens nicely when warm think your test car showing signs of wear. I have had mine since new only 18K miles with MRC stage 1 and Miltek exhaust. Absolutely love it
Thanks - it was on Bilstein shocks. And no I didn’t drive it in Sport mode as the Owner said it drives better when not in Sport mode. Great car and the last of a generation of NA cars!
LoL great minds think alike! Good news is that this week I finished edited a “RS4 B7 v Impreza STI Shootout” video 👍🏻 Bad news is you’ll have to wait until Fri 7th April before it goes live. It’s a great video and hope you enjoy it 👌

Are you talking about the badge at the top carbon section ? If not and the actual intake has it somewhere then that is odd as mine does not. I knwo its the same engine as the R8 Gen1 but that aside.

Rear wiper motor get a replacement from e-bay same as A4, gear inside motor grease gets contaminated with water and turns to rusty sludge.

Delete the EGR and get some catless headers, use LM ceratec in the oil and you won't have much if any carbon build up

Had mine for 18 months use it as a everyday car and love it had no issues up to just it's totally addictive especially when you give it some beans
Had to keep checking I wasn’t zoomed in 😂😂 wicked video
Next to the Ferrari 355, this is the sexiest sounding v8 ever made.
I feel like this one and the cfsa in the b8 rs5 are about tied. Ive owned both and honestly, i cant choose a fav between them. Theyre both incredible.

I owed this actual car from 2016-2018, spent a shitload on it!
One can tell, it's beautiful. Did you replace it with something else cool?
Perfect car especially as avant with manual
Good review mate
Great work, keep it up.
You can even tune it to rev higher to 8,500

@TheTimturbine Stage 1 MRC on mine with panel filter and miltek cat back 401 BHP. Even stage 2 unlikely to give 39 or 40 more. What do you think?

Did I miss the bit about whether it has the original DRC suspension or aftermarket ?
Aftermarket Bilstein shocks replace the troublesome DRC Suspension.

Someone please tell me why it has _R8_ on the intake. Can't find this answer anywhere
I’d assume due to the commonality with the 4.2 V8 R8
