Card 'N' Cloth is a realy good idea. I always wanted a Lynx ever since they came out, but they were far too expensive.
Get a cheap "broken one" now, because I have a couple of fix videos coming up that will help nurse it back to "rude health".
@@MarkFixesStuff Looking forward to it. I bought one a few years back figuring it would be an easy fix. My first thought was the voltage regulator, but doesn't seem to be. I never made the time to look into it more, maybe that time is coming.
We love you Mark!
Time to come!

I love the low resolution and those vertical lines. I had no idea this was a colored and backlit system.
A really powerful system for the time. Regarding the screen, watch this space... hah!
All about the Chips Challenge, as always Mark I really enjoyed your video
I love a bit of Chips Challenge Steve!
@@MarkFixesStuff I grew up with the Windows version and only recently played It on Lynx! Still remembered the key strokes for certain levels too!
1:28 you inserted blue lightning the wrong way with the sticker facing out.
Good spot. I was hoping no-one would notice. I almost got away with it as well...
Look forward to the next part 👍🏻
Coming next week
Nice clean Lynx! I really want to fit a new screen to mine but I'm usless lol
Video on that coming really soon haha! If you buy the screen I can fit it for you. PM me on facey.
@@MarkFixesStuff Ok Mark cheers dude ;)
I'm triggered by the cartridge labels not being on the visible side when inserted. What a silly oversight...
I know right! Why the hell did they do that?
Hello again, great video, could you please put a link to the modern LCD display fitting. Thanks.

Hope this helps!
I love your presentation skills.
Thank you so much! 😊😆👐👐👐
Great video, I'm about to sell my boxed MK1 , but it does the exact same thing, (insert game) . Could you use wet and dry paper over the playing card, then some contact cleaner of course ?
Clean game unit contacts first, games if individually needed. Perhaps some debris in the game unit connector?
Did you see my fail yet?
My first lynx was a the mk1 i did have a later mk2 but sold it some years ago it was a great idea with the screen flip function making it good for left or right handed players ,They are getting more expensive now even faulty so i picked up a cheap game gear to fix so at some point i will do the cap replacement things .The lcd mod is great when fitted .
Even without the seen the fully video, @2:58 yet, I thought eraser are the best for cleaning "gold" contacts to shine like new :D
Top stuff Mark, looking forward to the next one 👍👍👍
It's a good one so far!
Don't forget to share!
Great video, have you any ideas on how to preserve the contact area and stop it degrading again over time. A smear of light engine oil like 3-in-1 after use perhaps.
The contact cleaner has a light preservative in the formulation. It smells a bit like WD40 strangely enough.
Nice video, Mark! Looking forward to part 2!
Cheers Rich. Got a couple of other Lynx buts planned too.
Anouther cool vid mark look forward to seeing the screen go in
Lovely job. I’ll remember the playing card method.
Works nicely because there's no pressure on the contacts and it's cheap :P
Awesome fix matey, love the lynx 😍
Thanks! Love you Dave!
@@MarkFixesStuff love you two.
Worked for me! Thx 🙏
Great!
@@MarkFixesStuff thx
Hey mark used the power kit to solve power issue on my Lynx , and hats for guidance, however I now have power and screen lights up when games in but not loading game.... not saying insert card either?.. just lights up .... any ideas
Hmm... recheck your soldering. Hopefully it’s not one of the custom ICs gone belly up.
@@MarkFixesStuff hey mark soldering is perfect on the power line as there was no power at all when I got it, there is full power now on mains and battery.
I just can’t get anything to show.? I’m going to re cap the whole board see if that brings picture an sound......
I had a gameboy as a kid. Still have it, well I have two now, both need recapping. Anyway I always wanted a Lynx specifically because of Blue Lightning! I picked up a Lynx MK2 years ago. Still need to get that game however.
I do have a very poor sound on the Lynx, also on a Game Gear I acquired. Both are almost inaudible using the built in speaker. I Presume that is a sign of recapping needed? Both also have very poor quality images on screen, almost invisible. The backlights light so I'm assuming that a recapping would fix those issues too. These screens couldnt shake a stick at modern ones but surely ther were not as bad as I'm seeing lol.
I'm about to put a recapping video up on the Lynx to see what effect it has on the screen.
Audio volume is usually a cap issue on Game Gears, and the screens are invisible on the Game Gear until recapped too. Beware that GG caps leak and eat the board!
Great tips, but surely blowing the cartridge and slot is the real fix here?
No?
Both the initial problem and the cure... the ultimate riddle.
Your fingernails are lovely.
