    If you're able to connect your devices via an ethernet cable it'll make Wi-Fi seem like dial-up internet from 1995 when we bought our house the person who built it had several dozen ethernet cables installed all over the house no matter how much speed you have everything just works better when it's connected via Ethernet

    • @TheDomainS

    Well, with Ethernet, we have less issue to care about like EMI /RFI , distance , environment while wireless connection need care about security(SSH,telnet,)intranet,extranet ,some complex system network like mesh ,star , ring ,hub ,,a bunch of things to optimize about user , ,CDMA/AD/CD,scalability, Qos,BYOD,.....To get intenet without cable ,we exchange a large amount of things(include lower speed and sustainable). Probably worth the trade-off(Just perhaps) :)))

      Thank you! This was actually recorded at my school with over 800 devices connected 😂💀 at home i get around 800-900 mbps down and only 40 up over ethernet, not bad just sucks because i do a lot of uploading, our monthly wifi usage is 2-3 TB. Over Wi-Fi depending on which device i’m using i will get around 300-600 down and 20-40 up. I’m literally abusing T-Mobile’s free “one month” trial of service so i’m getting 160-500 down and 0.60-16 up depending where i’m at inside / outside the house (T-Mobile 5G UC), unfortunately my main carrier cricket wireless only gets around 20-30 mbps down and 3 up, my AT&T iPad Pro M1 gets around 40 down in the house, my house kinda blocks cell speeds but at the same time it could be so much worse. i know this is a lot of info at once but yanno i gotta give me people the good responses to their comments 😂😂

It also depends on where you live, different internet providers will have different speed plans.

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  Год назад +1

      I’m still active! :) A wifi booster could definitely work, I would say get a good one and place it in the middle distance area between the router and the device, i know people that have had success with booster but it sucks having to always make sure your connected to the booster wifi instead of the regular wifi which is why I would suggest checking out a cheap WiFi mesh system if your router support it, it works like an access point so instead of having to manually switch wifi networks it shows up as one network all together in settings and it just connects to whichever is closest.

    • @TheDomainS

      If it’s only 15mbps then wifi should hit the full 15, usually you only really want ethernet when your plan is somewhere around 600 or more, but yes ethernet can help regardless, especially if you have a lot of wifi traffic in the area, it would also help your ping.

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  2 месяца назад

      Usually you don’t, this is mainly due to WiFi traffic in the area and limitations of regular WiFi. The only realistic way to get that speed on WiFi is to use WiFi 6E. For example, last week I just recently went from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max, the 15 has the new 6E chip. On regular WiFi 6 I usually got 600-700 mbps down. Now that I’m on the 6E I can pull 1300 down if I’m close enough to the router.

  • @aland.mp4
    @aland.mp4 2 года назад +11

    I think this only takes effect if you have a good WiFi let's say your download speed is 20mb/s on WiFi then you connect ethernet then it's 25-30 but if it's like 300 then you connect it it's 450 or 600 so let's just say that WiFi just loses speed

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  2 года назад +2

      Correct but it also heavily depends on the type of router you're using, anything that's blocking the way, and the device you're using. For example, my home internet speed is 1200 MBPS, through ethernet I get 940MBPS (Ethernet Cable Limitation), on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPad I get 400 MBPS, and on my MacBook I get 511 MBPS.

      @@TheDomainS I use talktalk which says on the website when I last checked it was 24mb/s download and 8mb/s upload but on my phone it's 20 download 6 upload so I guess that's good? When I plugged in ethernet it was a bit better so I will take talktalk as a good router

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  10 месяцев назад

      I’m just now seeing this but yeah that’s about what you would expect from a really low internet package, I would hope you would get a little bit more than you’re paying for but as long as you’re getting close to it that’s what counts.

    • @aland.mp4
      @aland.mp4 10 месяцев назад +1

      @TheDomainS ditched talktalk, got virgin media now, I have to say it's a very good provider, although the router itself doesn't have any antennas I get the speed I pay for (300mbps) using my phone in the same room gets me nearly the maximum speed and using my pc from upstairs cuts the speed in half (100mbps) I'll probably get ethernet.

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  10 месяцев назад

      @aland.mp4 Not terrible! But yeah, definitely check into ethernet for that PC. It will make a huge difference. I bought some flat cat 6 cable for my downstairs PC, I’d recommend checking into it. I’ll put the link at the bottom of this comment, you only need cat5 since your speed is 300mbps but the cat6 isn’t expensive and it’s always better to be prepared for future upgrades that way you don’t have to redo your cables.

      If that’s your max speed then you really won’t notice a difference between the two. Mostly you’ll just have better latency, but that will only help you if you’re gaming. In my case, my home internet caps out at 1.2 - 1.5 GBPS. The max my WiFi chips will handle is around 600-700 mbps, once I connect to my 2.5G ethernet port I’ll hit 1500mbps no problem. Plus my latency goes from 30 ms to 6 ms.

      Your network speed will only be as fast as you pay for. Log into your providers website, from there you should be able to check what plan you’re paying for. For example, my plan is 1.5GBPS (1500mbps, 187.5MB/s) for $160 ish a month.

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  Год назад

      I would estimate that the issue is something with the ethernet rather then speed test, you can also open the activity monitor and click on the network section to get more accurate results while running a speedtest but double check everything, if you’re using a docking station then make sure it’s in working order or try a different one, check your cable for any defects, make sure the ethernet port on your router is capable of fast speeds and try a different cable, you can also reset your network settings which might give you faster speeds, I’m not exactly sure what device your testing the ethernet on but i believe you said it was the mac which I have had ethernet issues with so if you can i would also recommend trying a different device on the ethernet line and seeing if that makes a difference, this way you can narrow it down to if it’s an issue on the mac or if it’s an issue on the dock, cable, and router side. You can also check your router settings and adjust if needed, make sure to also reboot your router as sometimes they just need rebooted to work properly.

    • @opexpy05
      @opexpy05 Год назад +1

      @@TheDomainS, I know, and I wrote below that with a good router there is either no difference or the wifi will be better. In my case the router supports wifi 6E

    • @TheDomainS
      @TheDomainS  Год назад +1

      Same here, I just moved into a 6E setup but it’s pointless for now since only a couple consumer devices support it (For example M2 iPad Pro models) Ethernet will always be faster with lower ping no matter what, WiFi is great but it’s not going to beat ethernet anytime soon.
      Edit: There is a way to make WiFi almost match your ethernet speed but it has to be in PERFECT conditions, it’s really only going to make a difference in your performance if you have 600 mbps or more, that’s when WiFi starts to have trouble with speed unless your in the perfect conditions, in my case my home internet is 1200-1600mbps down and 40mbps up so over ethernet i’m able to get a max of 1600mbps (1.6GBPS) but over wi-fi with my iPad Pro M1, iPhone 12 Pro Max, 2020 M1 MacBook Air, etc, i’m only able to hit about 600-700 mbps.

      There’s a lot of factors that play into this, usually WiFi 6 only hits around 600-800mbps. It also depends on the material the house was built with, how far you were from the router, what the router is capable of, and what you’re comparing it too. Pretty much always ethernet will be better but WiFi is starting to get pretty close to a wired connection.

Everyone else in my area has it now and they don’t even need it, I use 3TB of total internet usage every single month, my uploads are taking anywhere from 12-72hours to complete. Ah, yeah if your plan only has 350 mbps you’ll most likely max it out over wi-fi and ethernet wouldn’t have a speed difference, most modern devices can hit around 600 in crowded areas, anything after that you’re going to need ethernet for. The only immediate thing ethernet would change for you is ping but it wouldn’t really make a difference unless you’re gaming. Although, if you have a desktop computer set up and you can let it permanently use ethernet then let it, ethernet will always be more reliable and consistent when wi-fi is just MOSTLY consistent.

(like 50 ping), my Internet provider is Viettel in Vietnam, thank you in advance.

    • @TheDomainS

      Hey there! So sorry to hear about your internet troubles, I experience a similar issue as you actually, we pay for 1200 MBPS but I can only get around 400-600 MBPS, I’m pretty sure it’s a hardware issue. Also, yes your ping will be lower with ethernet and your speed will be faster along with having a more stable internet connection. Ethernet is ALWAYS better then Wi-Fi. Sometimes you’ll have a dramatic change or sometimes you’ll have a tiny change between ethernet and wi-fi but most of the time it’s a pretty dramatic change.

      The common cause for that is that your router has a 100mbps port, try a different port, the rest should hopefully be gigabit. Could also be a slow or bad ethernet cable, a slow port on your computer depending on it's age, if the ethernet cable is plugged into a jack in the wall then that could be the slow part. It could be a million things but try switching the ethernet ports first then we can diagnose the rest from there.
