Jun 75, you aint the only grown man that cries when this song is heard. I'm 72, saw the movie, loved Greg Allman, I miss him, and I cry when I here this song.
As a combat medic from the Vietnam days I have had more brave men die and speak there last words to me than care to remember. The 1st time I ever heard this song it was instantly and forever hauntingly true and real. W ith life it truly is made of sand and it flows right through our hands just as the life giving blood ran through my hands of so many good men. How did so many around me fall and so many of us helpless to catch them? Now all we can do is each day we make a stand and see it through to the end and keep holding on. Well done Gregg Allman. Thank you for this gift song you left us with. RIP Brother

The most prolific song ever written..for a man ..really no words ...this is a gut wrenching narrative of a man's life ..of how we feel , young,,,and older,,,old,,,and at the ..end of our lives, and facing the end, the mistakes and regrets we have to face and live up to ,,,tears...turn into laughter,,,they have to, its the only way to keep our sanity , at the same time keep our integrity , our honor , our self worth and courage , tho misplaced as it can be. This Movie deserves better IMDB ratings...We need a sequel !!
If you want a sequel, watch Basic Instinct and imagine Douglas being referred to as Nick Conklin instead of Nick Curran.
No...the film is so majestic and has gotten better with age, therefore it should be left at it's climax.

Gregg Allman - I'll Be Holding On Lyrics
Artist: Gregg Allman
Album: Black Rain (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Genre: 80's Soundtrack
Year: 1989
I have lived my life my way
For tonight and for today
It's the strongest hearts they say
That always survive
I'm fallin through the years
As each dream it disappears
When the night is full of tears
I'll be holdin on
Now this life is etched in black
But I won't be lookin back
The rain washed out the tracks
I'll never find again
I'm still reachin for the light
I'm still wearin out the night
And you know I'll be alright
I'll be holdin on
When I stand alone
I don't stand on memories
Of all the ones you've known
I'll be holdin on
I know how it is
I know how it will be
(When) All the rest are gone
I'll be holdin on
Well my life is made of sand
It flows right through my hand
Each day I make a stand
And I'll see it through
I'll be reachin for the light
I'll be wearin out the night
And you know I'll be alright
I'll be holdin on
When I stand alone
I don't stand on memories
Of all the ones you've known
I'll be holdin on
I know how it is
I know how it will be
(When) All the
rest are gone
I'll be holdin on
I know how it is
I know how it will be
(When) All the rest are gone
I'll be holdin on
I know how it is
I know how it will be
(When) All the rest are gone
I'll be holdin on...
