I’m originally from New Jersey and I make this for the holidays every year. My family loves it and it reminds me of my Grandma. The only difference is I don’t use garlic or pepper. I use a couple of shots of Tabasco instead, but that’s how my Grandma made it.
My dad makes this kind of dip and it’s so addicting. Finally got the recipe from him and it’s basically the exact same as this one. If I had known the recipe was that simple, I would have tried making it myself before haha. So basic but so delicious tho
We had local 'Heluva Good Dip' brand clam dip at grocery stores here in MA, until about ten years ago. They said the cost of processing the clams, even though local, was too high. Your dip looks delicious Gram!

@@semperfi818 Yes. To some but not all. When I was going to the allergist and she did allergie testing she told me to stay clear of shellfish cuz she didn't want to come visit me in the hospital. That's all she needed to say. lol The only fish I've actually had a reaction was pollock and crabs. I can eat shrimp with no problems. Did you get all moved?

When I was a little kid in the mid 1960s my grandma used to make an incredibly good clam dip, only her and my mom knew the recipe. They are both gone now and 8ve tried a few different recipes but they just aren't the same. Hopefully this will be the one.
I know they had a few recipes to make clam dip. I hope this one from the book will be similar or the same. If only you would have had the handwritten recipe from either your Grandma or Mom. I know sometimes someone changes a recipe with one or two other ingredients and that makes it very hard to duplicate. I am so grateful that my Mom had her recipe collection. I used Snow’s Bumble Bee All Natural Clam Juice it comes in a glass bottle and it’s 8 fl oz. You should find it in your supermarket. I also use the clam juice in my Baked Clam recipe. Thank you for watching 👩🏻
