I was really disappointed when I first saw this game, it looks like something that originated on mobile phones from its gameplay and than shifted to consoles and slap a full price tag on it, I’ll pick it up around 20 bucks
Thanks for the review. It's $30 on sale on eShop right now, but hearing the whole (strict) time limit thing made this an automatic pass for me. I'll be continuing on Lulua instead.
This was my first Atelier game, like the design of Nelke, but was put off by the sim element of the game. Turned it in for credits at the local GameStop store. Didn’t other with any other Atelier game until Ryza 3, mainly because the direct showed Ryza riding a dolphin. That was more than enough reason for me.
I agree with the time limits for completing tasks. It's stressful to know you only have 10 turns or it is game over. I think that's why they give increased money on subsequent play throughs.
Tbh that's how I play Atelier I do what I can going blind. Then may end up getting a bad ending....BUT then I play on anew game with stuff carrying over and a lot of knowledge with what to focus on
Depending on how fast you complete the main tasks, it can be a LOT easier as time rolls over. I remember on my first play through, I lost around turn 88 as I struggled to complete each task on time. However, during my second play through I was on the final quest prior to turn 40 giving me about 40 turns to complete the last quest.
This was like my third atelier game and I agree the time limit did make me feel rushed but what I've played I am enjoying it but to play it I have to be in the mindset to play or I won't play. And when you're out looking for things I wish they let you control the party and wish it wasn't done by itself but I am enjoying the game so I'll keep at it
I've never played an Ateliers game before. This game may not be the best starting point though haha I'll wait for the new one to come out on switch later this year
This was a great review, I'm thinking about buying nelke and the legendary alchemists for the nintendo switch later on when it's on sale. Even though it's not really my type of game, i'll still give it a try. The animation and design for nelke and the legendary alchemists looks really good too. I also have to get the other atelier games for the nintendo switch too.
As much as I love the Atelier series, this doesn't sound like my cup of tea. The time limit and easy game over is off putting. Plus I prefer rpgs to building sim games. This is a solid review, helpful in my making a decision to not buy!
I'm playing on PS4 and its pretty good so far. Though i would have rather had a traditional Atelier rpg with crossover characters, rather than this town building side game. I've never really been that into building mechanics in games so the most enjoyment i get is from the character interactions. The game isn't bad at all, just not what i'd hoped. Also incredibly overpriced. Theres no reason for this to have been a full $60, especially with a proper Atelier experience coming in less than two months.
I might buy this game for the nintendo switch later on, even though i really don't like town building games at all. Still, I'll give nelke and the legendary alchemists a try anyway. I'm also thinking about getting the other atelier games for the nintendo switch too.
Thanks for the video I love the look of these games but I just can’t enjoy them because of time limit I feel rushed so I wish they would do away with the limited time 🤔
Viorate? I thought that it was a given that her name in English would be Violet. But then again, looking back at it, you'd expect to see CorneLia, not CorneRia in Atelier Sophie... The translators have had some issues with the L vs R thing (though I'm still glad that they didn't actually name the last game Lydie and SOEUR, instead of keeping Suelle... a sister named Sister is just plain ridiculous in my book). And as much as I would have loved to play a sidegame while waiting for Lulua, SIM games aren't really my thing, especially not town-building SIMs. :/
They've released two main line games in the same year before, plus some get delayed coming to the west. I agree it's bad marketing but the rush of Atelier games they make already doesnt make sense to me
I gotta tell you have you noticed these games cost more for the switch if your collecting if you don’t get the game day one the price creeps up and before you know it it’s 100$ for a new copy and 200$ for a trilogy 🙀
This looks awful. I’ll be avoiding this game for the same reason I avoided that Animal Crossing happy home game. Just not interested in that stuff. I love all of the main games, this just looks like a waste of time I probably couldn’t really get into...and I usually love SIM games, too...Thank you for the honest review!
Gonna have to give the game (NOT THE VIDEO) a negative opinion. This looks like a freaking mobile game. Couple that with NO English voices? Yeah, I’m regretting having gotten the LE. I just smashed that pre-order button because I love Atelier, but I didn’t know about this game’s systems. (I will do research next time.) Thanks for the confirming the game’s stupidity, R2G. I don’t know what I’m gonna do with my LE, but I sure as heck am not playing the game. (At least not until cheats become available.)
I'd call an extremely ignorant fool for doing such a thing, but I do that a lot too. That's why everyone should always-ALWAYS do their research! Especially if anyone is planning to purchase the overpriced DLC this and Lulua is getting! ;)

You should buy it just for Marie alone.
@@p6mkq No more, since Marie's own title is now here.
Is it worth buying nelke and the legendary alchemists? it really looks great.

Or just try the other one that came out on Switch before this one, it's a mainline game, not a side game like this.

Hey, it is the first modern Marie Atelier adventure and Marlone/Marie absolutely rocks.
Perhaps they will remake her adventures in hd sometimes ?

whyd you buy it full price when you knew a proper atelier experience was just around the corner?
@@kidrobot. i didn't. i gamefly rented it.
Sailor Mercury make up!!!

There are a multitufe of Atelier games with no time limit.
@@crankymessiah1477 Is there a video listing them😱

battery life and strictness seem very bad. OK Nelke=nono. Thanks!
Yay! I was waiting for your review of this game! Are you gonna do I am Setsuna?
Looks like a mobile game structure.
Why would anyone think this is the new main Atelier game when this releases...close to the actual new main game?
They've released two main line games in the same year before, plus some get delayed coming to the west. I agree it's bad marketing but the rush of Atelier games they make already doesnt make sense to me
the time management is pretty simple if you are used to salburg/gramnad titles
Thank God I didn't impulse buy this
I gotta tell you have you noticed these games cost more for the switch if your collecting if you don’t get the game day one the price creeps up and before you know it it’s 100$ for a new copy and 200$ for a trilogy 🙀
Atelier escha
And logy
I love time constraints tbh

@num488
Much agreed. This sucks. :(
I'd say at least play it. (Assuming you're keeping it) The worst thing is buying a game, and not even getting any use out of it.
wait and sell it to get your money back :D
@kidrobot
Nah. I’d either play it or give it to someone. I’m not into scalping. I loathe those people.
