  • Hey folks,
This week I am changing up the control system on my Jazzmaster. I moving to a simple 4-way switch that adds in the series connection for the bridge and neck pickups. I am also swapping out my 500K pots for 250k to darken the signal up and moving to a 330uF tone cap. I make a couple other changes as well, such as a new pickguard, new spring-loaded pickup foam, and a treble bleed circuit. Oh yeah, I also lower the nut.
    Enjoy!

Great video, very helpful, but JM purists would say it's supposed to be 1 meg pots.

Agree. I think I did 500 is standard in the video, but that is more modern as well. 1 meg was the original value

I've heard 250k pots were installed in first run Jazzmasters from 1959(?), 1 megs came in the following years. To each their own, I'd say

@@andyspencer4786I have not heard this before, but I wouldn't be surprised

It looks much better with the white pickguard! :)

Where did you buy the pickguard? I’m looking for a 4 way switch jazzmaster pickguard in tortoise. Thanks

I know this is an older vid, just found it. The white guard so much better. Confused a little with the treble bleed, reduced pots to get rid of some brightness, then adds treble bleed so doesn't lose any brightness 😂

I put 250k pots in my Jazzmaster as well. Much fatter sound, still sparkly, just not harsh.

Great video, quick question: Obviously there's detail in sound when hearing it in person, In your opinion did changing it to 250k still preserve that Jazzmaster character in tone? or did it change it?

Great video bro, curious to how the 250 pots worked out because I have been considering doing the same

Warmoth have lost their minds with the prices they are charging these days. Ridiculous

Yeah a little pricey. Great products though. They just don't have any legit competition, and inflation has made everything worse. Never any sales too.

it kind of still sounds like a jazzmaster. the strat bridge really changes the transients tone and low midrange.

Still sounds pretty shrill. Must have been really ice-picky before.
