I was so excited when this came out so I could finally convince my friend that drow was pronounced like cow instead of crow. Instead it says both are acceptable. There are two in this list that are mispronounced due to Mentzer not speaking the native language. Gaes, the spell, is pronounced gesh. It is a Gaelic thing and friends who grew up there attest to this. The other is the witch Baba Yaga. I worked with a Russian lady, and when she was carving a turnip for a Halloween decoration I asked her if that was who it was supposed to be. First she was amazed I knew the legend from her homeland, but she said the emphasis is on the last syllable : ba-ba ya-GAH.
The biggest mistake I hear on various AD&D channels is putting the emphasis on the first syllable of Tharizdun. It is supposed to be on the second. If I am watching a video and they get this one wrong I won't even finish it.

You seem to be overlooking that the CAP syllable is the emphasized syllable (q.v. Shillelagh).

Also, you constantly add another e when there is only one (nal-FESH-nee)

You breezed over drow too fast. The other pronunciation is how I learned it. Dro like bro.

Thanks! I've been saying Drow like "Ow" since 1977. Hah I think I'm screwed!

@@Classic_DMsuch a funny group-by-group difference. It’s nice to see some complexity, even in the source material. I feel a little vindicated since I’ve encountered people who think I’m crazy for ever rhyming drow with crow. Pre internet 80s gamer here!
