    THIS TRUCK IS RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS.

  • @SlowlyLosinIt
    @SlowlyLosinIt 10 лет назад +2

    you've literally done what I want to do in the future. Turn a vintage vehicle into something that has so much power, looks......GORGEOUS, has amazing handling and comfort while driving (with this truck, you can just tell that its amazing in those ways), and has modern technology integrated into it the vehicle (wifi hotspot, touchscreen nav, etc).

    This is one of the best trucks I have ever seen. What makes this truck above other customs is that all the custom work doesnt look custom. This is really really hard to do. Especially with the interior work and especially with the era. Incredible,awesome, what a rig!

  • @motofly196
    @motofly196 9 лет назад +3

    Wow...! I am a patina' lover myself....but you have some "Next Level" stuff going on with this truck! I know there is a fine line mixing old with new technology, but you have an eye for what works! I don't think most people understand the amount of hours of work that you have MODESTLY explained in this video. Just in the dash alone....WOW! You Sir, are a definite asset to the automotive industry!! Your Desoto Wagon is more my style....but I'm sure you have no problems finding customers for what any vehicle you offer! Great Work!!!

    My background is vintage home restoration. When I go to a car show, I am amazed at how often I ask "why is that there?". When it comes to Icon, I never have a single question, only a hope, that someday I might get one. Jonathan does such a good job professionally explaining his craft.

    its an awesome truck ,, i think icon has taken the custom car and truck business to a whole new level they are making dreams that you can drive with no worries and enjoy ,, this truck is testament to their ability to give the customer exactly what they want.. the entire operation is awesome from the ford broncos to the thriftmaster to their derelicts.. they just make awesome daily driven cars that work and function ,, i have been impressed ever since ive seen them on Jay lenos garage .. only if you could find me a 65 GTO wagon two door .. thats my dream car ,,,, RJ Swinder lead guitar of Creation Of Sound

    These are incredible functional pieces of art, you're an incredible craftsman Mr. Ward. Thanks so much for sharing these vids.
    I have a 1953 deluxe cab 3100 myself, it was my first vehicle. My dad and I worked it over back in 1990, it isn't stock and looks like crap now but I plan on rebuilding it and modernizing it some day.

  • @pneumatic00
    @pneumatic00 8 лет назад

    I had a '53 Chevy 3/4 ton (3600) 5 window that I got for a day's labor back in 1974. It was completely vandalized but I was lucky enough to have access to a pal's shop to rebuild the engine. I never put anything into the esthetics, it looked like a crappy old truck all the time I owned it. I sold it and the engine blew up about 1000 miles later, guess my rebuild wasn't the greatest.
    It's fantastic what you do to these old cars/trucks but you have to have $150K-$200K and maybe more in parts & labor in them by the time you're done. It's hard for me to understand the economics, but they are really works of art.

    I admired his artwork, you have a certain clients that wants old vintage but modern and I respect that for me my taste it I had to choose one.or another an original factory truck yes there's still some around there's nothing like an original factory truck you can sit in and take on a time capsule. There's nothing wrong with reproduction parts as long as they made to original factory specifications. Then again if I won the lottery.I would buy both of the truck original and a custom. Thanks

  • @nofrackingzone7479
    @nofrackingzone7479 9 лет назад +1

    Question, you started the video saying how you take a crispy 50's GMC pickup and take it to the final truck shown. The cab is a licensed reproduction, the bed looked too toasted to actually use in the final product. The badging, handles used were new. Ditto the frame, engine, transmission. How much, if any, of the original truck shown in the begining was actually used?

    I hate that it has taken me this long to see this. But better late than never. As it is said. Awesome awesome truck. I really really dig the matte finish in the paint. Everything about this vehicle is awesome. My one big hope is that when I win the lottery I hope that I win enough to buy one of these "Thriftmaster" trucks as well as have a derelict built.

    Disclaimer: This is only my Opinion.
    Can i be honest with you Mr. Ward doing more driving videos of your products would be best, everyone can go to your website and read the sum of your parts but owners and reviw companies very seldom do videos of your product. us viewers want to see them used to their full performance potential on/offroad. would you also be considering doing a tow/haul package for buyers who want something to tow their track/offroad cars places? could be an interesting market depending on demand!

    Hi Jonathan, I really enjoy your videos. Information I'm always wishing you'd include: How long each build takes and how much each vehicle costs. On this video I think you mentioned 10 months, so thanks for that. I get the impression these cars are in the $100k-$200k range. That wi-fi hotspot on this truck is fascinating, I gotta find out more info about that. On a separate note, regarding the derelicts: I'm assuming you must remove any rust off the chrome parts. There is a fabulous rust-demolishing product I want to bring to your attention if you're not aware of it: It's called Chromax. It's a delicious-smelling (wintergreen mint?) paste with abrasive crystals that are constantly breaking down into finer and finer bits. You barely have to exert any effort and the rust comes right off. It works on chrome, stainless, and several other metals... [Edit: Autonet Mobile!]

    You should open a shop in Australia in order to ride the wave of automotive nostalgia going through the country now that the last major Australian car manufacturer has announced that they are shutting down in a few years. Offer classic FJs and a Holden or two and the entire country would cream it's self. Couple that with the overload of skilled workers who would willing to jump on board and the fact that Australia is far more suited to high quality low volume manufacturing for a local market in its current economic state and BOOM, you've got yourself another winning business. If you need a CEO, I'll be standing by.

Then we take the body, throw that away and buy a new one." Great job as always though. I HATE touch screens that you have to go through pages to just alter the damn climate control. Use some freakin knobs!!!! Just my opinion

    I would prefer a stock looking ride height, and Chevy emblems with high gloss paint. That artsy dull paint would be fine if they had done a military olive green, but otherwise it just doesn't work for me. The build quality is wonderful, and innovative, modern auto manufacturers could learn a lot from seeing this truck. By today's standards this re-creation of a full size 1950's era pickup truck would be considered a compact truck and not a modern full size truck. Also when the original Chevy truck was sold it would have been a lot cheaper than a Chevy sedan.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TRUCK!! However, you could make your videos a bit more interesting like doing some sort of Top Gear like review about it. Take it on a classic American road trip, for example. We love that kind of shit.

    • @Rusen057
      @Rusen057 11 лет назад

      I slightly slighty agree with you. However the combined beauty of the cars with the way the videos are presented both fits into their own theme, own signature if you'd rather call it. Which makes it exciting and different compared to shows like Top Gear.
      The fact that it's a complete overview with loads of detail and info and visuals of the piece almost makes it seem like these cars belong to you in a fantasy garage on RUclips, lol. I love it! Keep it up guys.
