- Staying warm in winter with a beach walk may seem counterintuitive, however it really is warm enough to explore the beaches down here so warm up your cocoa or coffee (or grab a brandy) and let's visit the beach and see what is out there today.

Thank you for speaking up and saving that animal. ❤ Soon after I moved down here, my partner and I came across a grown man kicking around a calico crab on the beach. I went after him in a rage and told him exactly why what he was doing was terribly wrong. He didn't care one bit, but it hurts my heart to see people so willing to hurt or kill these innocent animals.
It's not only unethical, it's illegal to harass or kill that species. Isn't it?
You can't fix stupid. Or mean I suppose. That would have been so upsetting. I think most people are just uneducated. It's fine time I made a video to let them know shells come from animals!! Sorry you had such a horrible beach experience with that @#$*#@&%@#. ❤️
Always a Pleasure to see You and yourBeautiful Finds. Thank So Much !
Good for you speaking up to defend the critter! I notice that almost every time you do something like that, Mama Ocean sends a gift or two your way!
Mama Ocean and I are good friends and she is usually pretty awesome to me! 🌊
People today are so rude and clueless. You did the right thing informing this wannabe person about the care of life. That shark eye was beautiful but that yellow sunray Venus ….was gorgeous 💛⭐️💛
As one stuck here in the snow, I always look forward to going to the beach with you on Sunday night. Thank you for taking us all along ❤
Hi, snowbunny! I'm in East Tennessee where we still have the snow we got last Sunday very late, into Monday and it's.still.here! 🥶❄️
See that!!! After gifting all your Lightning Welks YOU GOT A GIANT MOON SNAIL!!! 😃Gifting it forward ⏩
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for being you and you don’t ever have to apologize for caring for these awesome creatures!
❤️
Bless u 4 speaking your mind....those that need to learn will ...there is a reason u were there.... to teach ...we need more people like u
Thank you for standing up for the critters❤❤❤
❤️
Thank you for your beach walks. I took my 26 year old daughter to the area you were shelling for her first shell trip last week. It was fun to watch her find different shells. She also loved helping me find garbage on our walk. I was surprised by the number of people who just walked by the garbage. We had a wonderful girls trip and now are back to the snow.😂
Our beaches are pretty clean all things considered, but I'm with you. How can people 1) leave their trash on the beach and 2) walk right past garbage! I want clean beaches, except if its messy with shells 🌴🌊🐚
You were rewarded by the beach for telling them to leave the live ones alone!
It is so heartwarming to know my Florida beach friend is looking out for the critters. I am always amazed at how some people behave. My husband and I speak our piece of mind when we see someone neglecting or even abusing animals. Thank you for making these critters important!
Update on our Brody who had a cancerous tumor removed from his leg…we will be starting radiation therapy tomorrow and will continue daily M-F for the next two weeks. The Radiation Oncologist has run several tests for confirmation on the cancer type, drew more blood chemistry, did chest Xrays and an abdominal ultrasound to make sure the cancer hasn’t spread. It’s all came back negative! Thank you to all who have sent up prayers for our fur baby! Without medical insurance we wouldn’t have been able to even think about this. Have a wonderful week everyone!
Praying for you
@@annettenepple449 thank you so much!!!!
I hope your fur baby will get treatment and make a full recovery! 🙏🏼
I am a retired veterinarian and just wanted to acknowledge what a great vet you have!! Helping you dog live longer is a reflection of the love you share. When considering thàt 1 year is around 7 years for your dog, that is a huge gift for you both. (just an aside, don't be late on any payment to pet insurance as they will hurt you with a BIG jump in interest rate😢). Best wishes
I saw another channel where he's "chucking" occupied shells back in the water like a baseball😮. I'm used to your TLC toward wildlife! 👍
P.S. Keep up your great example!🎉
I'm glad you didn't say what channel. I'd be tempted to waste some of my time trying to educate them. I should work on my video to education all the people that don't know better.
@@SWFBeachLife From lifting the animals carefully to enjoying "beach time" you show that shelling is more than picking "dead" seashells, but understanding what kind of life occupies them! And to respect it!
It unfortunately takes all kinds of people to make this world what it is. Know that you are on the right side. Keep educating and rock on sweet beach friend! If any of us had been there, we would have supported your position.
Well said. I know we all can't be perfect, but man do people need to be so snotty?
That shark eye is awesome. And, that golden sunray venus clam is really something special!! Another great day of shelling!
And to think I really didn't think I was going to be able to even make a video. Being persistent can sure pay off!
You are so honorable. No one can be so desperate for a shell that they need to kill an animal.
That huge shark eye was just a small reward from mother nature for all that you do. Thank you for teaching others the right way to treat wildlife!
I have felt so bad for years now. When I was younger I found a star fish and I had no idea about any sea creatures. It was alive and died because of my ignorance. I apologize to the sea and have cried about this. I just had to tell everybody this. But because of maturity and your channel I have learned so much from you and I will always know now what to look for at the Beach!❤️
Oh dear beach friend, it was a mistake. I am going to make a video about our sea creatures to try to help educate people. Your mistake was an honest one. Lots of people are told to leave creatures at the beach and they take them home anyway 🥲
great walk today! I love how you sneak in a shell you’re particularly proud of-it always cracks me up!
I had to - that shark eye was awesome!
Had a great time thank you for taking me along 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖
Thank you for coming with me!! 💜
Hi Sharmon! Thank you for this lovely video. I was stunned by most of those shells you found. That yellow sunray venus clam was incredible as was the giant horse conch and quahog. That one fighting conch with the zigzags on the knobs was so beautiful. I was wishing so much that I could have been walking with you on that beautiful beach. Yes, I'm one of the ones who got snow and ice this last week. I'd go snorkeling with you if I could. My dear late sister Leilani taught me how to snorkel when I was visiting her in Hawaii. So many beautiful fish and other wonders to see under there. God bless you and have a great week, my friend.
I have only been snorkeling a few times since I've moved here and while I never am chomping to get in the water, once I'm there I don't want to leave! Snorkeling at the Dry Tortugas was awesome! I got to see some live things that I've only ever seen dead on the beach.
I was just in SWF with my 2 daughters. They had never been to the Gulf side before. I told them about the beautiful beaches, and the shells! It definitely was cold, but it was worth it. We had such a great time shelling. Thanks to you and your fantastic videos, I was able to educate them about the shells they were collecting. I was so excited! Oh, and they saw an octopus too! Such an amazing time together!
Thank you!
I love this!! I am so glad you braved the cold and made some awesome memories!
Beach life......take me away!!! I can name almost all the shells you collect just from watching your videos!!! Relaxes me soooooo much!!!!
Well that was a fantastic day at the beach for sure! Soooo many treasures’ that sun ray Venus is a gorgeous find and yep wow beautiful shark eye!! Woot woot! I have to say it is appalling how some people treat live creatures. When I visited fort Myers at the end of August I had a run in with a gentleman who decided to throw the biggest crown I had ever see like it was a baseball. Literally brought tears to my eyes and boy did that guy get it from me. The next day at low tide I happened to run across said crown conch and he was still alive and well, I walked him out as far as I could. So anyway I hear what you are saying and how frustrating and sad it can be. It’s awesome you take time in every video to stress leaving live critters at the beach 💕
I'm glad to hear that crown conch survived. It is SO upsetting to see ignorant people abusing sea creatures. I hope I can find time this week to make that "educational" video to help my sea critters!
I am learning so much from watching your videos . And the beach time is very soothing and relaxing. Thank you for sharing the beach with us.
Lightning welks remind me of the novelty ice cream cones called drum sticks. Lol
Right after you saved that beautiful mama whelk, the universe gifted you that awesome moon snail... nice work!
Some awesome finds, and another video of shamelessly showcasing a beauty... the Paul Newman shark eye. You crack me up! 😂
LOL - if loving shells is wrong I don't want to be right!
That pointy brown “clam” is called a “pointy Venus clam”, no fooling. New to me!
Thank you so much for your videos. I love them, and thank you for being so kind to the sea creatures! Mystery shell number one was a pointed Venus, and mystery shell two was a constricted macoma. ❤
THANK YOU for the ID help!!
Wow you saw some huge shells!!! I’ve never seen ones that big before when I’ve gone shelling. So cool.
The little Hermit Grabs are so, so cute!!!
Some people! Are so mean. Thanks for saving the critter.
Every time I come along with you I swear I can almost smell and feel the briny breezes, hear the shore birds and it really relaxes me. Thanks! Oh...and I can't wait to hear how you educated that person. Some people just don't think things through.
I don't think most people are mean, they are just uninformed. It's high time I made a general video about critters anyway!
I agree...on both counts...Lol! @@SWFBeachLife
Thank you for taking me along for a walk on the beach today. I needed this on a very very cold winter day.
The horse conch with the holes in them,. Are use those because they do have a hole in the bottom to plant succulents.
The large horse conch and quahog were my favs this time, thanks for all you do!
Great finds Sharman!! I cannot wait to get back down there!! Loved the Giant Moons 😍 TTFN 👋🏼 ❤
This looks sooo familiar❤️ That nutmeg was so pretty!!
I’m glad there are people like you who are willing to speak up, educate and stand up for the sea creatures that need us! Well done!! 😃
Just wanted to say thank you for your beach walks. I watch them while I'm walking on my treadmill. You make me feel like I'm right there with you ❤🌊🐚
You are so welcome!
We were just right on that beach there. You showed our condo in the beg.
I have missed these videos. Life has gotten crazy. I need a great beach day.
Hang in there beach friend!
That golden Sunray was stunning……what an awesome find 😁
Right?! I didn't even know something like that exists! 💛
I just love my Sundays at the beach. Bless you and thanks 😊
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the awesome video and yes that shark eye is amazing!! Also thank you for speaking your mind, its very important to protect any kind of critter and yes making sure the shells are empty, I accidentally brought home hermit crabs one time, had to go to the pet shop buy salt water and small frozen fish to feed them and sand to keep them alive for 2 weeks, but they made it back to the ocean alive, have a great week and see you next Sunday
Wow Marcia! That is commitment! I made the same mistake but I just drove them back to the beach!
Beach gifting to others is always rewarding!
UGG to the leaving live creators at the beach.
I left 3 live Whelks and kinda displayed them for other shell picker to admire. The shells were already beached and tide was still going out. Later that day someone took them I guess to eat or their shells? Next time, I will definitely make sure they make it in the water.
So I made it down here!!! Found a giant horse conch on Kice Island with Ali and Hector from SWF Shell Guide. Today is my birthday and I’m so excited to get back out again. I always thought there is no way Sharmon is finding all of these beach goodies in one trip well I WAS WRONG!!! Plan on shipping everything back north because there is no way I’m going to be able to pack all of these in my suitcase. Thank you for another amazing video! I love your adventures and I’m so happy to be making a few of my own!!! ❤❤❤ 🐚 You make the world so much more beautiful!
Happy belated birthday! What a way to treat yourself 🥰 Ali is the best - I'm so glad you had a good time and found so many goodies! You're going to make me cry you're so good to me with your kind words. I hope you have a fabulous time making memories for your future self!
Wow you had a great walk! That shark eye, horse conch, golden sunray venus, and all the other cool stuff. I didn't even know it was possible to find a sunray venus like that! It definitely reminds me of the golden olives and those colorful moonsnails that lack the patterning. What a fantastic day! :)
And to think I was thinking I wouldn't have enough content for a video about 15 minutes into my walk. The beach never ceases to amaze me! Thank you for watching! I now want to go to the Carolina's to shell!
Fabulous shells! People, ugh!
LOL! That about sums it up!
I was really impressed with the beautiful apple murexes you found today. Also looking forward to seeing how that humongous horse conch cleans up. There were no pear or fig today, and no cones, but it was fun "walking the beach" with you. Regards from Michigan. Jan Jacobs
My favorite time to walk the beach is early AM. It's so relaxing with beautiful scenery. Cockell, Clam, Jewel box, pointed "Venus" clam and a nut clam. All in the first 2 minutes. Who knows this nuch? You are amazing? See you at the Lana Kai. Lol
Thank you for speaking up! I have done that before with live sand dollars. The person did not know and graciously put them back in the water.
I think most people just don't know.
Sharmon - you are living my dream!🌴
I am one lucky lady!
Leucism, partial loss of pigmentation. Lots of species will demonstrate leucistic characteristics, like the splotchy red and white cardinals, or in deer, reptiles, etc.
Yes, piebald is a term used too. They are even more special IMHO.
You are my connection to the beach we love to stay around in/near Captiva and Sanibel. We are so thankful for videosuntil we get back in June ‘24 and maybe September or October ‘24 and we LIVE for those vacations! Love you and your videos💕 - Susan & John ( just had our 51st Anniversary❤️
Happy belated anniversary! I hope you have fun planning your next trip to our area 😃
What a great day. Thanks for taking us along
Let's go snorkeling!
Yaas!!! 👁️❤🐚 ing!
Time to get a folding beach buggy....for collecting the Florida fighting conchs......
Seriously - I'm hopeless! 🤣
Thank you for another fun beach walk! I completely understand your inability to leave behind those zigzaggy fighting conchs...they quickly find their way into my shell bag too! Irresistible! I just returned to the Boston area after spending 3 glorious weeks in SW Florida. Can't get enough of the beaches and all that can be found there. This trip, I converted my almost 80 year-old father into a beach walker. Armed with a sand scooper that sometimes acted as a walking stick, he and I traversed a few miles of FMB beach together. He loves moon snails (he has a good collection already!) and can't seem to find his way past slipper snails! I'm going to share your videos with him so he can get his beach fixes until I visit him again! Enjoy the days!
I love that your dad loves slipper snails!
I truly admire your dedication and education on the shells. How to care, preserve the live ones, and respect the beach and the ocean animals. Keep it up, and if someone gives you grief, educate them. They will remember it.
🙏🏼
The snow that started last Sunday afternoon is still on the ground here but it is starting to melt. I like a pretty snow but I would prefer being on the beach shelling. Have a fun and safe snorkeling trip. You had a great haul with all of those beautiful shells, that shark eye was amazing ! We all will look forward to next Sunday evening. Have a great week everyone !
You, too? I'm in East Tennessee, where we got a foot of snow, an inch of ice and another half inch of snow, with single digits for several days just to make sure the snow hangs around!
@@ittybittykittymama7582we were blessed with just getting powder snow. Normally we get sleet first, then snow. We are so thankful that we didn’t lose power throughout this weather and no frozen pipes. There is an upside to it all. Haha
THANK YOU for that video short showing the difference between "Pear Welk"and "Paper Fig" shells. 😮 I also get "Button" and "Sun Dial" shells confused as well. Could you do another short about those?
I wish I could. I don't EVER find sundials on this side of the state. I do have a few more shorts planned - the list is long but I'll get to them eventually!
Love your videos! Especially at this time of year because I live in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 and we have a foot of snow right now. Thank you for sharing 😀
I have learned so much from you, your walks and knowledge. Great finds today and you… you stand up for those precious critters. God bless you for that ♥️
My husband and I found a number of sunrise tellins on the beach in Nassau, Bahamas... They are SOOOOO pretty!
How fun! I want to visit so many beaches for their treasures!
I recently had an encounter with some young men on a jet ski harassing a dolphin. I too couldn't keep my trap shut. Unfortunately, it didn't stop their behavior. I was told, "for your information, we've been doing this all day so it's no big deal."
Someone else said it best. The shells were awesome! People...ugh.
WOW! How unbelievable some people can be! How cruel! I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut or my temper under control! I'm an avid animal lover 😂of all creatures! Except snakes and spiders, nope, not them...hopefully you've taught her a valuable lesson!
Wow! A golden sunray! That's one I haven't seen. Very cool! There were a bunch of hinged spinies there! Darling little true! That was a nice big shark eye. Happy for you! As far as live shells, some days I feel like the beach police. Floridians have no excuse; visitors sometimes just don't know. And then there have been the "harvesters" looking specifically for live stuff to cook/eat. Fortunately I haven't seen as much of that lately, but after storms, I'm always on the lookout for them. You scored big again, girl at FMB! xxoo
Harvesters? Oh that would drive me up a wall. There have been some comments about people that have had pretty nasty experiences with people at the beach. I think a majority are clueless. The mean people - well, I don't think there is much we can do about that. The clueless ones I'm going to work on!
Thank you Sharmon for the once again great shelling day. I was just down at St.Pete’s the week right before Panama City had the tornadoes, and on the way home we stayed at Panama City Brach for four days. The bad thing about the trip was almost NO shells. One Frorida fighting conk but it had a critter in it, bummer. There was absolutely nothing!! I was so hoping for a beautiful calico scallop or juvenile Fl. fighting con, but just nothing. I found one crown conk, and about four olives that looked like they were made of cement because they were so rough, no shine. I did enjoy you finding that shark eye, wow!!
.
Not all Florida beaches are created equal - that is for sure. I'm quite lucky to live where I do!
Hallo Shamon I am from South Africa and I love the sea and I love your channel Jeanne
Thank you for watching all the way from South Africa!
Wowie wow! I'm impressed at all the cool stuff you found!
People, especially in the U.S., are just used to having or getting what they want. They don't care what happens to that not so pretty thing living in the shell they want. It's a shame that more respect isn't shown to our beautiful creatures. It's kind of ridiculous when you think of how much is available to them. They just need to take a few more steps. I'm glad to say....I think those of us that do have respect for these fascinating creations enjoy them much more. So good for us, and shame on them....OMG! What a beautiful shell you just found! Good for you!
I wish there was a way to fix mean people! Have a super week beach friend!

Love watching ur videos every Sunday..can't wait to visit and get sum great finds
My daughter and I ran into a man last year on vacation that told us that during a fishing trip, his daughter and granddaughter took 15 lbs of LIVE lettered olives home from the beach! 😭😭😭 He proceeded to tell us how they killed and cleaned them out 😠 I was so shocked and angry I was at a loss for words. I just told him it was sad and against the law. So sad and such a waste of precious sea life! I am glad you tried to reason with the lady you encountered! Keep up the good work 👏 😘
That is vile.
I actually had a problem with some specimens displayed at a shell show, as I believed they were collected while they were alive. I don't understand how anyone could do that just to get the shells. I can't fix mean, but I can at least try to educate people!! ❤️
@SWFBeachLife people who mistreat and murder animals are definitely poor excuses for human beings! We just have to keep speaking up for those who can't!
Love the big shark eye❤
wow, what a neat collection of shells this trip!
Thanks for another beach walk!😍
Dear Sharmon,
Thank you so much for educating that lady! In my humble opinion: she was very rude!! Were the other shells she carried empty?
I'm impressed that you even gave her your Lightning Whelks. That was so kind of you. Don't know if I had it in me after that conversation. 🤬
But the beach gave you good karma with finding that stunning shark eye! ❤
Wow, what a finds! Even that humongous horse conch. Alright, it was a bit beat up, but still an amazing find!
I'm very curious how your snorkelling went, probably fantastic.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you take for making these videos.
When I can't sleep, I love to watch older videos. And I love them all, but I love you more!😘❤
Sending you lots of love, and of course a big hug! Xoxo ❤, Ilona
Dear Sweet Ilona, my beach friend from the Netherlands that has been with me for so long...I think I will finally give up trying to predict how my beach days are going to go. I really didn't think I was going to find enough to make a video when I started. It was probably a good hour of not all that much and then all of a sudden! I never give up anyway, but this was a good lesson. You never know what's going to be out there! I hope you are feeling as well as you can. Hugs, sunshine and strength to you! 🌴🌊🐚❤️

Thank you for watching all the way from Brazil!
Thank you, Sharmon, for advocating for snail-y kindness. The big shark eye and golden sunray Venus clam are GORGEOUS!
Hello, from snowy Maryland.
P.S. Did you miss a wentletrap at 22:05?
I didn't see a wentletrap at 22:05 but I just was looking through all footage and I see a big horse conch I missed - LOL! Practice really does help! Thanks for watching from snowy MD!
Just very happy to see your videos every sunday..😊
Thank you so much 😀
The shark eyes with red eyes…I call them Dean Martins!😂
😂
The brown shell you couldn't identify looks related to the banded wedge maybe.
What a beautiful video to make my day much brighter.❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so kind ❤️
Thank you for all your beachy goodness. I am learning so much. Coming down there in the end of March. Hoping to stay in Dunedin. And of course, hitting as many beaches as I can! 😊
I LOVED Honeymoon Island! I hope you have a great time while you are here!
OMG y'all!! Just watched a video where a woman AND her friend found Junonias!!! Can't remember the beach but it was in N. C.
Congrats on finding that beautiful moonsnail and golden sunray Venus!
Enjoy your time at Dry Tortugas! The views from below and above the water are breathtaking!
That was awesome, thanks
Sharmon, I bet that was a heavy shell bag, just the Quahog Clam Shell and the horse conch added quite a bit. Love the big yellow sunray and awesome moon snail! BTW you mentioned trying to hit the NE coast after a NE storm, I just wanted to tell you to try north of Michlers Beach, either in Ponte Vedra if you can find a place to get on, or up to Atlantic Beach, those places have more shells. Have an awesome week!!
Thank you for the beach recommendation!
I would love to see you show a shell per video you usually just skip/don’t look for. You have so many interesting shells I’ve never seen, Were I live we pretty much only have blue mussels 😂
I'm so lucky we have so many different species here. I'll try to do a better job and showing the shells I don't normally pay attention to!
Nice moon snail and all the other shells.
Thanks for the walk on the beach. Here in Pa its 11 degrees.

Super finds!
Yay for another awesome beach day! Thank you for sharing and for protecting those live creatures! Sadly, some people just don’t know how to act. 😢
Really nice finds this trip. Loved it. ♥️
Oh wow 😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰
That was great of you! And the beach rewarded you!
Holy cow! Some beautiful finds today, and thanks for “trying” to educate that woman, sometimes they just don’t care😢 but karma finds a way to give back..oh yeah, I found a channel, “inlet Boy”. He goes to the Channel Islands in South Carolina, and I swear to you he found what I think was an apple murex that was the size of his hand! And the whelks he finds are ginormous as well! Really fun to watch the different shells up there. Anyway, thought you might enjoy it..🥰
Thanks so much! I am always trying to find other shelling channels that I can learn something from. Thank you!
Love the pen shell awesome 😊
