It is in the books not the show. Bran the Builder is a Stark ancestor who not only built Winterfell, but he also built the wall. He is mentioned In The Histories and Lore Season 1. I would recommend you watch after you finish season 1. I wish that I had known about it when I first watched the series. After this episode you are beginning to grow up, my Sweet Summer Child. I did in previous videos mention he should watch conquests and rebellion that explains Aegons conquest and at the end of the video goes through roberts rebellion which gives a lot of good background information on game of thrones right before the start of the show. I think that one would be more useful to watch considering its relevant to the show, at least the ending part. I dont know if my comments were read but I would really hope to get a reaction video to it I think it would be good.
Don't change the picture. Ned remains so important in the narrative and in the fandom. Like, he's that character that hunts the story to its end. The best kind of characters imo.

"WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS?!" was the same question that popped into my head, first time watching this episode too. When the person who represents all things good, gets taken out like that. 6:14 The language of Dothraki was the first language created by linguist David J. Peterson for the Game of Thrones. He explained, that its grammar is mostly similar to Russian, but the vocabulary is heavily inspired by Genghis-Khan Mongolian language to reflect their nomadic lifestyle similarity. One of my fav things about it is that _The Office_ had an episode where Dwight is teaching someone conjugations of a Dothraki word which hadn't previously existed and Peterson agreed that it was correct and now has canonically/officially been added to the language.
There are a lot of "obvious" things in this show, but we're so used to Hollywood giving us all the answers right off the bat that we almost never realize when a clever author is giving us clues

The idea behind the nights watch is that the brothers would form close bonds to want to protect each other. When it comes to the watch vs family/love/children.. if they were forced to choose between them then they will choose those closest to them over the watch and its duties.

"Love is the death of duty" ... "What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms". I think what Maester Aemon is really getting at here is the moments when your duty conflicts with your love. Which is exactly whats happening with Ned at that moment, does he tell the truth about Joffrey for the good of the realm, the law, the truth, or do you lie to save your daughters? This episode may be my favorite tv episode of all time. Love your videos.
Aemon wasn't full of shit, he was using wisdom to make Jon see his choice from different perspectives, it is actually quite caring because most people would have put their own hubris and opinion to give Jon advice, but Aemon gave Jon all the tools he needed to decide for himself without bias.
You have the same reaction that a couple senior marking executives at HBO had. They read the script for the first few episodes, and the overall story outline, then they went out and found a well-known actor Sean Bean to play the lead Edouard Stark. But they did not read all the details, and were actually surprised when he gets killed in this episode. They were actually quite upset because they had built all their marketing for season one around Lord Stark. They literally had to re-create the marketing campaigns for the following seasons. It is not a spoiler, but the books and the show was written without Hollywood happy endings in mind. It is more realistic when not only generic soldiers die but sometimes well-known characters.
That was the best possible reaction to the Ned twist. Don't search for a new background image unless you grab the Season 2 dvd/bluray cover. You will definitely get spoilers you don't want if you go searching for any of the main cast. Ned looming in the background is perfect anyway as he metaphorically does that for all the characters that knew him as the story goes forward.

If I’m remembering right from the books, the wall has like 10 or so castles along its length that each guard a gate through the wall. Castle Black is not the only way through, essentially. Additionally, because of the Knight’s Watch’s reduced size and membership in the current time period, many of those castles are either unmanned or lightly guarded.
There's also a sea passage at the eastern end, but it's not really a viable way to transport, say, an army of the undead. So, the Wall *is* a formidable barrier, except to the occasional small band of raiders who figure out which of the forts are manned.
Maester Aemon in the scene with Jon Snow was talking about a different scenario, when you are forced to choose between your family and your duty to the realm. A very common scenario in this world btw. For 99% of the people it's always family comes first, that's why it's important for the men of the nights watch to not have families of their own, so that they are never forced to make that choice.
This has got to be the best GoT reaction on RUclips, which is no easy feat. You caught on to the fact that Robb sacrificed his men to trick Tywin faster than anyone I've ever seen. Love it!

33:15 It's relatively easy for one person, or a small group of people, to cross the wall. The Night's Watch doesn't have enough men and is spread so thin that they can only patrol every so often. So you just have to climb the wall or take a boat around it and hope a Night's Watch patrol doesn't catch you. But it's impossible to bring a large army or something across the wall, cause the Watch will see it and stop them.
