Fun fact: According to the GxK novel, he seemed to like the Colosseum, or Rome in general, because the architecture reminded him of his old temple.
As someone who has the novel, I can confirm this.

he really does like the colosseum, when leaving it, you can tell he's taking as high a step as he could manage, and was leaving by the lowest point. just goes to show that he doesn't go out of his way to destroy, it's just a result of his size.

I saw this movie it was freaking awesome and I like how King Kong and Godzilla team up against the giant ice lizard Shimo and Skar face Kong .

Gotta love how he also takes his time to walk trough the river even if it's not deep enough for him to swim in instead of walking trough the city and destroying buildings.
He actually tried to avoid causing unnecessary damage to his surroundings even though no one could do anything about it if he did just walk trough the city. Very considerate of him.

Exactly I pointed that out to my friend, he did his best to avoid buildings when he could he’s just big he can’t help it. I wonder if I’m future movies cities will be built different with very wide pathways so he can cross
@@captainpharaoh The bridge was something he couldn't really avoid tbh, he still took the path of least destruction. If he didn't care at all he could just walk straight trough the city since following the river would be the longer path to the sea.

He cares about humanity, any damages he causes to human lives is just the natural consequence of him doing his job as both an Alpha Predator and the King of the Monsters, when dealing with other threatening Titans, Godzilla just can’t afford to watch where he steps, but when he isn’t fighting or being threatened, Godzilla is careful not to destroy everything around, same goes for Kong, even went out of his way to leave and then come back to Rome through the canal rather than straight through the city, he could choose anywhere in the world to rest, but instead he chooses to live in places that were specifically built for him by humans, he probably thinks the Coliseum was built specifically for him as a new nest.
He liked the Colosseum so much that he traveled all the way from Rio to Rome just to nap in it again.
The fact when leaving he made sure to leave by the low point to not damage it shows how much he loves the spot.

I burst out laughing in the theater when Godzilla actually came back to the Colosseum to sleep more. Just the idea he found a comfy place to curl up in is pretty funny.
It's even funnier when you realize Rome is 9221 kilometers away from Rio. Godzilla traveled all that way just to sleep in a particular place. He must really like the Colosseum, lol.

It’s kinda of sad you know thinking that he adopted the Colosseum as his home because it reminds of his old temple. Also I like how he seems to avoid any major damage by going through the river lol. And I love that ending shot of him, the music winding down and him going back to sleep and rest in his new home.
In in the 2014 Godzilla movie he was shown to actively do his best to avoid any unnecessary damage if he can avoid it, he smart to not endanger humans if possible. Also yes I love that he decided to make the Colosseum his new home to rest while awaiting the need to protect the planet from it's next incoming threat.

I don't think he meant to destroy the bridge, he just physically cannot lift his legs high enough to avoid it.

Godzilla, on the other hand, was pissed the somebody disturbed his sleep. Again.
Honestly these are some of my favorite scenes from the entire franchise. This Goji is so consistently serious that when a lighthearted moment comes along that makes perfect sense, as in familiar surroundings, it is especially satisfying. Enjoying a well earned rest in a comfortable place is something we all can appreciate. Things like this is why I read film novelizations.
you know what man, after everything that humanity has putting him through, waking up titans after titans, got his temple destroyed in the process, he deserves this. its the least thing that humanity can give him. he keeps getting interrupted in his sleep cleaning up human's mess.

This is simultaneously the most badass and the most wholesome Godzilla's ever been in a single movie.
This makes me think that maybe Cities should adapt their infracstructure so Titans can walk in and out eithout causing too much destruction.
