You don't know me. I'm not waiting for it to deliver. I'm waiting to go home, where it was delivered earlier today. So there.

I fit everything into the original box for portability, where everything doesn't include the new purple tray. You can cram all of the bird cards in the original tray and just leave out the secret goal cards in a neat stack or small bag. The eggs and food can fit in the existing containers.
It's cramped, and it is unfortunate to not be able to keep the new card tray, but it works.
An alternative may be to ditch the cardboard player mats for the new rolling ones, but I don't have those to try out.

Robert Doremus that’s a way of doing it, but then you don’t have your wonderful purple tray! But yeah, if you make sacrifices you could totally make it work.

This is exactly to be expected. You can’t change Wingspan and you only put out a mixed deck with enough birds to play a game. Does the sideways birds work well? Obvious I’m going to purchase.

I've used the sideways birds a few times to jump start the production of a row. I'm not sure about their "effectiveness" vs. other birds and costs in the grand scheme of things, but so much of Wingspan is about working with what you can get vs working with what you want, that I think they are an interesting hook. For whatever reason, I tend to add them most to the wetlands so I can get to drawing more cards quicker.

Have you tried playing just the European Birds as a replacement deck instead of a supplement? You’d get to see more of the new elements that way without diluting the deck.

Samir Biswas No, I have not. It can theoretically work that way, but I think you lose out on a lot of the powers from the base game, which I think these depend on and are meant to compliment, not replace. The rulebook even specifically says that they are “designed to be shuffled into the original deck of cards (and cards from future expansions)”.

Immediately after watching this, I found it absolutely dirt cheap and couldn't say no 🤪

Hey, for a cheap pickup, who COULD say no?
Also, nice to meet a fellow Jack. Cheers from Alaska!

I wouldn’t mind more birds from different continents, they have a lot of opportunities to expand in the future
