- "Long as I Can See the Light" is taken from CCR's legendary fifth studio album, Cosmo's Factory. Stream now or pre-order the 50th anniversary half-speed mastered vinyl: found.ee/ccr-co...
We’re honored to unveil this special fan-generated video for the beloved Cosmo’s Factory closer, “Long as I Can See the Light.” In the lead-up to Father’s Day 2020, Creedence fans worldwide were encouraged to submit videos and photos documenting cherished memories with their fathers, grandfathers or other guiding lights in their life. Warm thanks for all the incredibly moving fan contributions.
The tradition of musical inheritance is strong among CCR appreciators: The band’s timeless albums have been proudly passed down from generation to generation. Music’s capacity to draw people together is more important now than ever, so while many may be unable to be physically near their loved ones this Father’s Day, the hope is that this video will help remind families just how deeply they’re connected.
One of many hits on Cosmo’s Factory "Long as I Can See the Light" was released in 1970 as part of a double A-side single with "Lookin’ out My Back Door.” Both songs peaked at number two in the U.S., and despite Creedence having never played “Long as I Can See the Light” live, it became a fan favorite. Over the years, the song has taken on different meanings, but John Fogerty has stated that the song is "about the loner in me. Wanting to feel understood, needing those at home to shine a light so that I can make my way back."
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Cosmo’s Factory this summer, Craft Recordings is issuing a half-speed master edition of the album, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and set for release on August 14th. The album was mastered at half speed by the award-winning engineer Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Available for pre-order now, this audiophile edition of Cosmo’s Factory comes housed in a tip-on jacket, replicating the original packaging.

Would listen to this song every morning in the shower before chemotherapy. Most the time I would shake from crying, but then I would be ready to fight. 7 years cancer free. Thank you CCR!

Congratulations on beating cancer
Thank God and thank John Fogerty & Creedence Clearwater Revival
god bless you, receive the best vibe ever dear friend
My Dad is taking his last breaths after ten year battle with cancer. Today he had a stroke and is unresponsive and the family is surrounded him now. Playing this song as it was his favorite. 57 year of marriage and 4 kids and 11 grandkids and 1 great grandkid. RIP old man.
My condolences. May hr rest in peace and your family find peace in your hearts.
Sending comfort during this difficult time. So sorry for your family's loss. I truly believe being there in the end is the last gift our parents give us and the last gift we are able to give to them. We lost our sweet Dad unexpectedly on May 7th and as difficult as it was, I would never change not being by his side when he left earth. Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's in heaven. We will always keep the light on for you.
Rest in peace
He sees it
I believe it
CCR is my dad. Passed away almost 8 years ago and I miss him like crazy! Such good memories listening to CCR ❤

Dad, I love you and miss you man. Times are different around here, people have changed Dad, our world is not the same without you here.
My father shot himself last year. I understand...
I lost my dad to. The memories kick my ass but I hang in there knowing he wanted me to stand tall in his place. So brother, totally understand how you feel. I lost mine father's day 2007. It don't get better, you just deal with it
I went to play this song today on the anniversary of my dads passing and the first thing I see is your comment. I feel the same 💕
Sadddst thing I’ve read all day...I never got to know my dad :(.
😘
I remember getting this album (Cosmos Factory)for Christmas in 1970 . I was 11 years old .I'm now 65 and still love every song on it ..Every song evokes some emotion . One of very few albums that every song is a masterpiece..Thank you CCR...
This song helped me survive 42+ years in prison. Sentenced finally commuted by Governor Tom Wolf on Feb. 12th, 2021. As Long As I Can See The Light kept hope alive. Now these old bones is headed home.
👍
Good luck my brother 🤙✌️
Every second is another opportunity to turn it all around....
Hope you are doing fine now. New life !
Mr. Charles Haas, that is such a blessing to hear. May the God of second chances go before you, strengthen you, minister to you and watch over and protect you.
I'm brazilian. It is an honor to be part of the video and the history of the band Creedence. Observation, I am with my mother who plays the father. I appear in 1min01s.

Rip to your dad, if he brought you this taste of music, the man was surely a legend!!
My dad passed away going on 2 years. Miss you pops, we all do. ❤

AWESOME music... From all those years ago! Still great!
I listen to this song after having a seizure and it helps me feel better about dealing with my epilepsy and how things have changed now I have it and how I need to keep pushing on. ❤

Moi aussi toute ma jeunesse 😅
I sure wish I could see the light, but I've never had a home, a house yes, but a home is full of people that care for one another and that I've never known. I pray every night God takes me from this hell. Until that day I'll walk it alone with only God by my side and hope I'm welcomed to the kingdom of Heaven cause I've been through my tribulations and even if God doesn't allow me that I'm not worried bout hell I've been there since the day I was born
There is someone out there for you man don’t worry just continue having faith and one day you’ll no longer be alone just keep hanging in there
❤❤❤❤❤
Hang in there buddy. You were meant for good things!
My dad is in it! I love it! My dad has been diagnosed with cancer two years ago, and currently there isnt anything that can help him anymore. Love for CCR is something our dad shared with me and my brother since we were very little. And the music from CCR always meant the world to us. Still does, always will. Him being in this video is so very very special. Thank you!
We have a lot of good cbd here in switzerland... Maybe it would help

HI there from Baja Mexico...I read your comment and it touched me as did this video. Music does so much for everyone around the world and this song has always been one of my all time CCR favorite!
Paz e bem!
My wife's in labour man. I left her at the hospital this morning, couldn't even kiss her goodbye cause the guards threw me out the door. She texted me earlier...she's in pain. Usually we share everything mate, we've been together since the times we had nothing, we were both poor and together we rose to a more-than-decent living. There were times when I had the munchies for a bloody pear and couldn't afford one so she'd say "nah, I don't need this go get yourself that pear hon'" cause that's how amazing she is. Wish she could share the pain with me now, but I can't even be there with her and I'll see my son in pictures.
@@pcbulai Thank you, for have replied to me. I'm glad you know how much you are doing for me. I'll pray for her, and hope you'll back togheter soon... be strong, 'cause spirit is all a man really has when he's through bad times... wish you and your wife all the best, and hope you'll pass a good Christmas, even if you're not togheter, I hope you'll stay united also in the distance. Remember my friend: love goes through every wall, no matter how many guards or doctors there'll be.
i feel you brother
This song made my day today ! I am paralyzed now at a young age of 41 and I don't get to see my four daughters as much as I want too.
Heavey song but, such an amazing message and song. Been listening to Credence my whole life I feel. They always find a way to hit you in the right way.
May God bless you and give you peace of mind. My son is near your age and you will be remembered in my prayers............
I'm sorry brother I was paralyzed too

My husband passed away Oct 2023. He had a very sad childhood. He always had the deepest eyes and now when I look back and know it was because he could see the light! Only a few songs make me cry like this one does. Love you and miss you everyday. Thank you for choosing me.
So deeply sorry about about your loss 😢😢 but he's in a better place now god bless
I'm sure you brought joy into his life, you chose each other, wishing you much deserved happiness.
My father was ill-diagnosed with diabetes. i.e. it was too late. Lived for another 3 years. He quit alcohol, sugar and salt, but never quit good music. We listened to CCR, went to bed and he passed away. Got to hug my dad away. Gets me every time!
😢
Sorry for ur loss
Found this beautiful song after watching BOSCH. Loved it
thank you i need this lost my mom today
These comments are hitting me hard. I'm here because of my Father as well. 6 going on 7 years gone and this inescapable hole remains inside me. This song reminds me of both him and the road that awaits. Rest in peace to my hero.
Sax solo is also beyong 'inventive license'. Choosing that instrument over the dozens that could have been selected showed extreme inventive. You could play this song for 10,000 years and still want to hear it again, at year 10,001.
Lost my cousin 2 days ago love him like I love myself now I can't stop listening to this song thankyou ccr
This song had a room of easily 100 people in absolute tears last night. We fucking miss you, Rob. #Dangfoot
Damn...
Lost my father this easter 3/31/24 and CCR brings tears to my eyes. His favorite of all time. Man im gonna miss my daddy
We played this song at my step dad's funeral July 2022 he was a wonderful father and grandpa to my boys. He loved my mom so much. I'm truly thankful for his love to all of ous 💗🏡
I travelled thousands of miles across this country only to realise the place I belonged was my home town. Been back for 28 years and love it married the girl I met in high school and dated half a dozen times. Sometimes everything your looking for is right where you started.
Yes. Im glad you found the answer as many never do.
I too was in prison, I didn't have a radio available, and if your sentence was under 5 yrs.,you couldn't get one. The music in my memory kept me sane, and motivated to get me thru. Thank you for sharing that. Music is such a spiritual entity, I never realized how much until that time in my life.
It’s played a pretty big part in my survival….helping me endure things no one should have to (physically abused by one parent & ignored by the other) im 52 now ….not point in crying about that shit anymore 🤷🏼♂️sweet sweet music 🤤
Which insane crime have you committed?

That saxophone though. Just gives me chills
I played this song at my dad’s memorial.

^ This is one of the sweetest videos I have ever seen. 🤗
This is so beautiful. I lost my big brother last year. He collected CCR’s albums back when he was 16. This is the perfect song to remember him by. Thank you.

John Fogerty was and it will be always be in our hearts. He represents one thing: perfection. Period. From the voice to the instruments and to the lyrics, IT IS PERFECT! Good job Fogerty! 👍👍
He is still alive tho 😆

My dad introduce me this band , suddenly pop in my head today his birthday was yesterday miss him a lot RIP dad❤
One of the best rock bands in the world. ❤️ CCR!!!
I waited for the Best man I ever knew except my Daddy, to come home safe to me. Daddy was a US Marine in WWII. My husband served in Korea and 4 tours in Vietnam. I wanted to meet him at the airport but he wouldn't let me..jerks threw coke, piss, tomatoes..any thing they could find not to mention cursing him. So to all those brave Soldiers: thank you for OUR FREEDOM❤️, and to the ones that disrespect freedom go somewhere else! They are both in Heaven now, and it's my husband's Birthday..💋💋💔 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING! WE MISS YOU🌹
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR BRAVE SOLDIERS❤️❤️❤️
We will keep ya close 😢
Thank you for this. My dad died last November and my niece submitted a picture of my sister, my dad and myself to this and it is in the video. I just sat here and cried. He loved CCR and this was the song we used at his funeral.

My cousin died of cancer in 2015 at 47. At her Visitation, it was playing this over and over!
I was 8 and had the ‘Lookin’ out my Backdoor” 45...this was the flip side. Man, I love these songs.
CCR was such a big part of all my childhood memories. Even though I was born in the mid-'90s, my dad was determined to share the magic of CCR with my brother and me. I'm getting married next year, and I chose this song to dance to with my dad. Thank you CCR for being the most beautiful soundtrack to my memories!

Best video of growing up 60s 70s ever. Simpler times for kids. Not so for nam vets. Oh the bliss of ignorance and music fun and games people played before the chip came along.
Happy Father's Day to all the awesome dads who introduced CCR to their children.

I am and have always been a daddy's girl... he has always been my #1 fan.(and then there was Anthony- my man) My dad was always, just the coolest- he introduced me to CCR when I was 12/13....and I was hooked. Music in general- all of it ... The beat the words the title....My dad introduced me to the best music ive ever heard to this day and I'll be 41. From Alabama and Billy Ra- to the Jackson 5 and Frankie Valley with the 4 seasons... Copperhead road and Old time rock and roll... THANKS DAD!!!!

What a beautiul song. The refrain phrase 'long as I can see the light' is packed with so much power, magic, spiritual feel, and a great sense of comfort to boot, is pure beauty and art. John knows how to convey the feeling to his words like no other. Less thatn 4 years of greatness. Music, absolute greatness.
