I once held second point by placing a level 3 Dispenser and Gun by the tunnel spawn. We had 2 heavies, a medic, a pyro, and myself all holed up in there protecting the cart. It was the first time I played Engineer well in my entire TF2 career, and I was happy.

Herobrine0412. Yea, 90% of the time my sentry spots are innefective and my dispenser doesn't help my team... I honestly believe it would be very helpful.
I really like the note you added at the end saying you would make an update video if the map had any changes, but as you make more episodes of this series, that would increase your work exponentially as more and more maps get updated
This video makes me really happy. I don't even play TF2, but I absolutely love the teamwork, the lateral thinking, the problem solving of it all. Watching competitive TF2 players put a different slant on a traditionally casual game, and the thought that goes into such traditionally linear things as building placement and rollouts... Just... Please Dane, May I have some more?
Lately I've been having fun with the Eureka Effect and I found a decent spot behind the roof at BLU's first spawn. You can place a teleporter behind the small rock and people won't notice it. It's really only good with the Eureka Effect because it is quite easy to get trapped there and you'll have to teleport out of there at some point. Great for ninjaneer.
@@andrj8844 its also pretty good map for people to play. Not as good as Upward, but certainly well balanced. Of course people want Badwater. (Its a place where people play to actually learn, unlike 2 Fort).
Engineer education. Wonderful! This is like taking a night school class on the best aspects of engineering in the game. Taking all other classes into consideration as well as the pluses and minuses of each situation where you may ask yourself "where" and "why". This is exactly the kind of in depth video I'd expect from you. Well done and thanks.
17:35 "It's pretty common for newer player to ignore this dropdown" I've been playing this game for a thousand fucking hours. Never realized that path existed. I feel so ashamed now
I've known about it (only like 500 hours) but I always forget it. Although once BLU manages to push, I can use that spot to flank, as you can put a tele exit there before you cap third.
I got an idea for a new construction PDA. Disposable PDA: Replaces the dispenser and teleporters with a mini-spenser and speed boosting pad. The Mini-Spenser: 1 second build time. 50 metal cost. Can build 2. 5 health/second. Infinite ammo and metal. 10% ammo regenerated per second. 75 health per Mini-Spenser. Speed Boosting Pad: 1.5 X walking speed for 1 - 3 - 5 seconds depending on level. 160 metal build cost. Only 100 metal to upgrade. 50 with Eureka Effect. (eureka effect increases walkspeed when 'teleporting' to exit)
I have been playing a lot of engineer a lot (trying to play classes more that I do t play) and this really helps I've been able to almost keep the entire team at bay to my sentrys
Depends on how you play it. For offense, If you have a decent team, an early push to hold between C, B, and E can be very effective. Your team can effectively push 3 points without you needing to move, and if you have a team that can support you, that spot is very hard to dislodge. A spy can't take your tele since your entrance can be built in spawn (that's the one thing I hate about Steel actually, it renders a spy's ability to take teles completely useless). If you're fast enough, your team can push B from 2 sides, and can also push E if necessary to get the enemy to back off. Alternatively building between D, A, and E is a decent spot too. You don't really need to worry about being flanked, and your team can keep the pressure up for the last 2 points. I don't have time to go over defense atm, but the standard pub spots usually work fairly well.
Clnr0n05 I disagree, spy is almost useless in steel there are like a thousand ways to play steel as the spy though, 1 is to get a shit log, assist your sniper, keep white room with your soldier or scout, or just being a knife spy.
Gregori meta I never said spy was useless. I said that the spy's ability to take teleporters is useless for that map. I play spy all the time on Steel.
Im an engi main myself, it was nice hearing your tactics, you made some really good points, and that sentry spot outside the end of the cave positioned to the right is a good spot i never thought about.
Some Random Warlock plenty of people know these spots and it's not like your sentry or teleporter is invisible. The enemy team can see it from a range. It doesn't matter if they know the classic spots or not
When you said "you can coordinate with your spy and jump out of this window and wreak havoc" or whatever you said when you were describing offensive strategy, I got an idea for a spy sapper replacement. Spy weapon Sapper replacement +Building is disabled for an additional 3 seconds after sapper is removed +50% sapper health +When sapper is placed on a building, the building will be highlighted (wallhacks) for your team and your team will be notified that the building is being sapped -80% sapper damage penalty -When sapper is removed, spy is marked for death for 3 seconds The strategy would be to coordinate with your team to destroy a nest. Instead of the spy taking out the building on his own, he'd act as an actual support class, disabling the building so a power class can come in and just totally wreck everything.
Dane thank you so much for this video! Ever since you posted it I have seen tons of f2p engies building in good spots, and people using map call outs on voice chat and regular chat. I'm really glad for this and I hope you can do other maps, as the extra support from engies has really helped. Stay cool man.
I saw you demonstrate the hop to that fenced off platform at 16:30 and kinda screamed with joy because I had no clue that was possible but was considering how well it would work if built on that ledge. Looks like I need to practice jumping as engie more
When the first point is capped, when it’s safe, I like to take my tele-entrance to the last point spawn so it doesn’t get destroyed when they cap the second point.
Awesome work. I see the dedication and details you put in this. I carefully watched every single second of it, during multiple stacked sessions. Didn't bother seeing a new Ad at every session lol. You deserve it.
Never heard of the "Pub Push"? It's when the game goes into overtime and everyone on blue realizes there's an objective, so they make a last-minute push. It often works.
You can get a pub team to cooperate. I usually am the single medic of the team, and since people need me to keep them in the fight I press the mic button and start calling the shots. The key to make them behave is to compliment their performance mid-opperation.
soldiers in the shit house shooting rockets out the door, medics, heavys, scouts, and snipers laying on the floor. level three sentries firing down the tracks, destroying even the most well planed attacks
I don't even like playing as engineer but 90% of the time I am forced to play as one because the teams that I'm paired with neglect to have any sort of Defense so I have to watch your videos not saying they're bad or anything just I don't main engineer so I'm not particularly a good engineer luckily I'm not bad I'm just painfully average
If my team doesn't have one(and sometimes if they do) I'll go Medic, my personal fave. It's similar to Engineer in that the more passive role plays a much bigger part in the game. And seeing that hp rise and my teamates push ahead makes me feel good, similar to a sentry denying a push.
+Pope Potato I haven't played in awhile (no internet since May, kill me now), but I would always play half pocket by sticking close to the super pro Hale's Own stranges Heavy or Soldier(because they knew to fucking protect me and work together) while healing anyone nearby/in trouble. Otherwise, I just stick with the team. Also can Valve just fucking release an australium kritkrieg?! I've wanted that for over a year, and I have the perfect name! "Wunderwaffe DG3 JZ"
Pope Potato may I recommend the quick fix sure it doesn't over heal as much but the play style that I use for medic is just to heal what's necessary and move on to the next person

Herobrine0412. Yea, 90% of the time my sentry spots are innefective and my dispenser doesn't help my team... I honestly believe it would be very helpful.
+Damidget utubes wow same a bit
Easy just slap a nest near the robot spawns and win
29:29 "Teleporter goin' BAM!"
I really like the note you added at the end saying you would make an update video if the map had any changes, but as you make more episodes of this series, that would increase your work exponentially as more and more maps get updated
Hahahaha, maps getting updated.
Happy Anniversary to one of Dane's most underrated series. I don't even play engineer all that much and this is still super interesting.
I still come back here too. Even as a medic, you can learn a lot.
PLEASE Engineer’s blueprints for Badwater!
thats goo common for people i think a more obscure map would be better
Your wish has come true
@@andrj8844 its also pretty good map for people to play. Not as good as Upward, but certainly well balanced. Of course people want Badwater. (Its a place where people play to actually learn, unlike 2 Fort).
@Kat Ada Roselyn i only said it would be better, but i enjoyed the vid.
"its pretty common for newer players to ignore this drop down..." bro i didn't know about that until I had played well over 1000 hours
1) why is pit even a call out
2) why is shithouse the best name for a callout in all of comp history? well maybe cheese is better
"Soldier's jumping over pit" "Scout's Jumping over pit" "Demo's jumping over pit."
Also shithouse is funny
Nemesis
Shithouse is quicker to say then C-house. Not the biggest fan of it, but it works.
I thought it meant shedhouse?
Han Hong
It would then have been called "shed."

"It's pretty common for newer player to ignore this dropdown"
I've been playing this game for a thousand fucking hours. Never realized that path existed. I feel so ashamed now
I've known about it (only like 500 hours) but I always forget it. Although once BLU manages to push, I can use that spot to flank, as you can put a tele exit there before you cap third.
I got an idea for a new construction PDA.
Disposable PDA:
Replaces the dispenser and teleporters with a mini-spenser and speed boosting pad.
The Mini-Spenser:
1 second build time.
50 metal cost.
Can build 2.
5 health/second.
Infinite ammo and metal.
10% ammo regenerated per second.
75 health per Mini-Spenser.
Speed Boosting Pad:
1.5 X walking speed for 1 - 3 - 5 seconds depending on level.
160 metal build cost.
Only 100 metal to upgrade.
50 with Eureka Effect.
(eureka effect increases walkspeed when 'teleporting' to exit)
There is a mini-Spenser currently on the workshop so maybe this idea could get into the game if valve decides to actually update this game
You didn't come up with that, you're just copying the scrapped engineer PDA concept.
I have been playing a lot of engineer a lot (trying to play classes more that I do t play) and this really helps I've been able to almost keep the entire team at bay to my sentrys
Very, very impressive guide here. You, sir, have earned yourself a subscriber.
I have a feeling this video will be glorious!
Oh and cp_steel video please. That map is hard.
nuh
Apple or maybe because it's the weeks map?
Gregori meta
I never said spy was useless. I said that the spy's ability to take teleporters is useless for that map. I play spy all the time on Steel.
I just realized that the engineer can secretly be a mastermind leader through subtle placements of dispensers and teleporters
Can’t believe it’s been 7 years
The Engineer's Blueprints are the best of Uncle Dane's videos. Great breakdown of an awesome map!
Im an engi main myself, it was nice hearing your tactics, you made some really good points, and that sentry spot outside the end of the cave positioned to the right is a good spot i never thought about.
Good video for sphee mains so we can find all dem sentrys and keel dem engies
Anoonymoose but unkle dain is a very gud santry maim
But ankle dayne is a very gud stratigy

stickybomb launcher demo mains>sphees
That's cool, but the tele spots are going to be near impossible to sustain since your channel is SO popular ;-;
Spy's sapping my sentry
he quit tf2 tho
He actually began playing it again recently.
Actually, I think he just took a break from tf2 videos. He didn't even stop playing.
Spy weapon
Sapper replacement
+Building is disabled for an additional 3 seconds after sapper is removed
+50% sapper health
+When sapper is placed on a building, the building will be highlighted (wallhacks) for your team and your team will be notified that the building is being sapped
-80% sapper damage penalty
-When sapper is removed, spy is marked for death for 3 seconds
The strategy would be to coordinate with your team to destroy a nest. Instead of the spy taking out the building on his own, he'd act as an actual support class, disabling the building so a power class can come in and just totally wreck everything.
Maybe make it so the spy can't spam the sapper
Otherwise really cool
JuanokuG4 i mean it does say that spy is marked for death once the sap is removed, so the engie can just shotgun the spy when he removes the sap
@@yesno8273 oooooooooooo that's pretty smart
Dane thank you so much for this video! Ever since you posted it I have seen tons of f2p engies building in good spots, and people using map call outs on voice chat and regular chat. I'm really glad for this and I hope you can do other maps, as the extra support from engies has really helped. Stay cool man.
Great video, Dane. Teaches us about the map and how other people will be playing it, along with how we should play it ourselves
haha, wrangler is banned in comp now
sigh... so sade

@@timmygreat1230 ?
Such randomness
@@timmygreat1230 Isnt it critical?
Holy shit TF2 looks so pretty without high FPS configs installed...
Honestly, the amount of stuff you can get rid of in the advanced video settings feels like cheating.
5 years later. I don't play Engi. I don't even play TF2 anymore, and yet here I am. Very cool.
I saw you demonstrate the hop to that fenced off platform at 16:30 and kinda screamed with joy because I had no clue that was possible but was considering how well it would work if built on that ledge. Looks like I need to practice jumping as engie more
I am new to tf2 and my main is an engineer and I find myself on upward a lot. This video was really informative and helpful.
I say good chap, Mister Dane is a very great blueprint Man
By Joe, is he your uncle as well? I thought myself to be the only one! Hello, dear cousin!
Tooltip Tinkerer Why yess good chap,
Well, Bob's yer uncle(No pun intended), that's bloody bonkers!
3min in and I've been playing for about 4 years
and I'm already Fucking mind blown
When the first point is capped, when it’s safe, I like to take my tele-entrance to the last point spawn so it doesn’t get destroyed when they cap the second point.
Awesome work. I see the dedication and details you put in this. I carefully watched every single second of it, during multiple stacked sessions. Didn't bother seeing a new Ad at every session lol. You deserve it.
This guide especially helped for the second point.
I always had a hard time figuring the optimal places until the enemies have almost capped
I'd like to see one of these for a 5 cp map
I love 2 minute videos

Ive watched this a dozen times but I still come back again and again
can't believe this came out almost six years ago! I remember watching it when it was uploaded!
"Coordinated push"
In pubs.
IN.PUBS.
NO.JUST NO.
Never heard of the "Pub Push"? It's when the game goes into overtime and everyone on blue realizes there's an objective, so they make a last-minute push. It often works.
VestedUTuber I’m using this as official terminology now.
You can get a pub team to cooperate. I usually am the single medic of the team, and since people need me to keep them in the fight I press the mic button and start calling the shots. The key to make them behave is to compliment their performance mid-opperation.
Just let competent players know that you have uber and watch your teammates coordinate on their own
Dane, PLEASE do a guide on the Gunslinger and its uses!
:)
Sen-bae noticed me!
YOU SPIN ME RIGHT AROUND BABY RIGHT AROUND, YOU SPIN ME..... okay i'll stop with zeno's memez
Ali hu Wut...
I mean, I saw that video, but...
soldiers in the shit house shooting rockets out the door, medics, heavys, scouts, and snipers laying on the floor. level three sentries firing down the tracks, destroying even the most well planed attacks

Uncle Dane
I want to say thanks. Thanks for the amount of time and effort you put into your videos. Please keep up the great work.
I watched the Intire video several times now I'm the master engi man on upward. Thank ya unkle dan
3:23 Wait wait wait... y'can actually build in that li'l hole there? Huh... the more y'know.
8:18 HA! Jokes on you, I wear a unpainted Texas Ten Gallon! Good luck finding a yellow helmet!
@peroh Ok
Yeah I usually Main Soldier Spy and medic so I know that feeling of being useful medic
Pope Potato may I recommend the quick fix sure it doesn't over heal as much but the play style that I use for medic is just to heal what's necessary and move on to the next person
Mewtastic also r.i.p internet
this video is great, not only because it's good advice for engies, but it's useful for pybros too.
I just watched Dane tell us where to put buildings in a video game and this taught me more than school.
Engineer: "It's over Pyro I have the high ground!"
Pyro: *Muffled noise* "You underestimate my power!"
