@garotinho1108 Serato is used to control the software from your decks. For Vinyl DJ's this is incredibly useful as 1 serato record can play all the music on your pc (and emulate scratching). With a CDJ you can already do this :S so u dont need it on CDJ unless you want to scratch
@EEZAL the setup is like with turntables. i'm using the sl3 interface and there is a switch for line in/phone level. cdj out->input sl3 and then output sl3->line in from mixer. then look in the setup, the scopes must be perfect when you using timecode cd's. but you must set the interface for line in level, otherwise the timecode will be distorted.
@mangyshlakdapaul hello, it is definitely in abs mode, the loop function isnt working when i use loop buttons on the cdj...but the "track timer" on the cdj is looping...the buffer size is at maximum.
Hi, i just bought cdj 1000 mk3 today, but it will not read my serato scratch live control cd that i downloaded. The disc worked at a club's gig two weeks ago that i played in, but my mk3 (just bought today) says 'No Track' on cdj display. What am i doing wrong?
hi, you can't use the internal cuepoints of scratch live with the cdj 1000. the only way to trigger them is to use midi or a hui-device like cdj900,2000,850. to use the hotcues on the 1000 with ssl, you can only save them on the sd-card in the cdj.
hey, im using serato v2.1.1 (abs and int mode) with one cdj 100 mk3 . everything used to go fine, but now i cant rewind to the beginning tracks using "track search" or "search" button on the cdj to rewind to the beginning of tracks... when i use "track search" have you come across this and could you help with this pls????...thanks
@InglishTheDiskJockey no settings are needed on the cdj. just use it like with normal audio cd's. and don't use the mastertempo on the cdj!!! for best performace in ssl you must set the minimum buffersize. like 2ms. but with 10ms it works too. the other option: sell your 1000 an get the 900 ;-) it is supported nativly.
@ReboyGTR the cue stutter works, but not so perfectly as with normal cd's. the problem is that it doesn't start perfectly as you can see in the video. if it runs on a fast laptop you can choose a very low usb buffer size. i've tested it with 10ms.
How can i use Serato Scratch Live on a DDJ Controller? i don't like Serato DJ or Serato Intro at all so , i Prefer use scratch live. Hope u can help me.
@mangyshlakdapaul I was going to try and set it up with a ESI Maya44 USB and then download Serato and buy the timecoad discs. Do you think this would work? Dose shutter cue and the pitch control all work the same ?
how can i play using serato dj,if i have already the license which i use with my own pioneer ddjsx2,and then i will start to play in clubs next year by using just cdjs into my laptop,as i don´t have very clear this question,cheers
Hello good , I know I need to connect a pioneer cdj with computer / laptop That is what I need (device or something ) I have the serato like Video Help me please THANKS!!
@BBOYMAHZ can you test the same deck on the sl interface with vinyl? does the needledrop works? what do you mean with "maximum buffer size"? it must be at minimum as possible. i tested it with 10ms, but with 2ms it will work better. another question: mastertempo on the cdj is off? do you have another cdplayer, like a normal hifiplayer? you can test the searchfunction on this. so then you know that the cdj isn't the problem
I have two cdj 2000s and a Rane 62. I know that I can use the cdjs through USB and not need the time code CDs. But I need to have the feature of the two USB ports to switch djs. How do I calibrate it? The sound sounds all up and down pitched. And could I have master tempo on? Thank you.
Hello Mandyshlakdapaul, I have Serato Sl3 + cdj1000 mk3 and I do not obtain to use the functions of cdj together with the Serato as Loop, cue, pitch. Has some function in set up that I have that to modify to use these functions. Best Regards.
URGENT QUESTION: I am djing a club tmrw and am making my first transition from the s4 to cdj 1000s. in absolute mode can i set my hotcues before hand, on my pc, or do they need to be off of the cdj to work properly. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!
sorry im sure this is a dumb question but how do you save the cue points on the sd card when you're using timecode cds? can you do it beforehand or do you have to be doing it on the cdjs?
hey mangy im having problems with playbacks of my loops and cues, im on rel mode but when i try to loop all it does is just continues playing with the song and doesn't loop. or when i try to hot cue certain parts it doesnt play, but just continues playing.
Is this an archaic technology? Everyone I know is using memory sticks or controllers. Is it still worth getting hold of these older players and use this system in 2017? What benefits does it have over controllers or rekordbox libraries? I can't think of any really.
The reason is two: Money and being a bit lazy. First, those players works at their best with standard audio CD's. Then they are as precise and reliable as any newer model, just lacking a few functions. As this requires you to burn CD's, or buy if you can find what you need, a lot of people think that is too much hassle. You can use them with mp3-cd's, but then you loose the waveform. As they can only use 3 hot cues per CD, that also makes it more difficult to use them properly with mp3-cd's. If you need wave form and hot cues that is. As most people have their music already in their laptop, to use these players as controllers for your DJ-software, you don't need to export your music to any external device, hence the ''lazy''part. It actually works pretty well, but personally I'd take the time to burn CD's because I want the players to perform as good as they're supposed to. There's always a bit of lag when using them as DVS devices and that's not for me. Doesn't work well with the way I play. BUT!!! you can get those players for about 100 buck a piece in very good condition, and that also goes for the RANE SL1 interface which makes it possible to use Serato Scratch live. That's 300 buck for the whole solution, compared to about 1000 buck or (much) more for any other of their current line up of players that will show you as much info on the screen and will play Rekordboxed usb devices. Skip the SL1 and you're down to 200 buck for a very reliable professional solution that the best DJ's in the world have been satisfied with from 2001 to 2009 (some still are) and most pro DJ's still would do just fine with that setup if they had to. No solution involving a computer will ever be as reliable as one without a computer, including using CD's. So, if you don't have 1000's of £'s, $'s, €'s to spend, go for a pair of CDJ-1000Mk3's and a bunch of empty Cd's until you've saved up for your dream-players of choice. I still bring my 1000Mk3's to smaller bar jobs and such where I definitely won't bring my NXS's or NXS2's. It took me a day to burn 40 CD's (I used 2 computers) with all the music I need for those kind of jobs and now I can add a CD a couple of times/year to keep that collection up to date.
what does it mean when the cd says it can play for 15 min. ? - is this software only available in 15 min per session or is it the maximum capability per song? :S
you have to doing it on the cdjs. but as it is a timecode, the cdj handles it as one song. so you can only save 4 hotcues and one cuepoint for all tracks.
Wait a sec, When i use cdjs w/serato i cant use those functions (hot cues). but now im thinking i should be in absolute mode instead of relative. is that what your doing ?
Merci
@mangyshlakdapaul worst advice ever lol, 900 is an awful CDJ, I used them many times i hate it it feels like a cdj 400 just bigger, obviously go for the 2000's but keep 1000's if not 900 suck, and I've never used the new cdj850 so i cant comment on that
@mangyshlakdapaul thanks for replying . it was a quicktime update .. fixed it .. now its running good ... cheers

@xxlollypopmanxx yes the cdj 1000 mk3 support mp3 disc's.
you can use SSL with the iTunes-Library. You must activate it in the settings.

@sxemola it's easier than turntables, cause you don't need to calibrate the cdj's. the timecode signal is perfect out of the box when you using cd's.
@InglishTheDiskJockey no settings are needed on the cdj. just use it like with normal audio cd's. and don't use the mastertempo on the cdj!!!

@sxemola no serato only works with interfaces from rane like the sl series and some of their mixers.
How can i use Serato Scratch Live on a DDJ Controller? i don't like Serato DJ or Serato Intro at all so , i Prefer use scratch live. Hope u can help me.
you can only use the internal master tempo of scratch live. calibrating is easer then vinyl, cause the treshold have no effect.
@nachovaras thanks :-)
@kenoba Canon Ixus 100, cause my Canon DSLR doesn't have video. But I would recommend something like 550d, 600d.
@mangyshlakdapaul I was going to try and set it up with a ESI Maya44 USB and then download Serato and buy the timecoad discs.
Do you think this would work? Dose shutter cue and the pitch control all work the same ?
@MrMuzicgent Hi, I'm using the Dateq Vibe Mixer.
how can i play using serato dj,if i have already the license which i use with my own pioneer ddjsx2,and then i will start to play in clubs next year by using just cdjs into my laptop,as i don´t have very clear this question,cheers
You can use timecode cd's on older CDJ's or connect via USB and use HID mode with newer CDJ's.
Hello good , I know I need to connect a pioneer cdj with computer / laptop
That is what I need (device or something ) I have the serato like Video
Help me please THANKS!!
yes :)
thx :)
@hummurabi2010 right, you must be in absolute mode for this. it's like a needledrop on vinyl ;-) the same think for loops on the cdj.
@BBOYMAHZ can you test the same deck on the sl interface with vinyl? does the needledrop works? what do you mean with "maximum buffer size"? it must be at minimum as possible. i tested it with 10ms, but with 2ms it will work better.

How do you connect the cdj in the computer if the cdj doesn't have usb port?
timecode with an Rane SL3 interface is used here.
@ReboyGTR yes
how do you set it up with scratch live with sl1 box
I connected the audio out of cdj to audio in on the SL3.
WHAT IS THE NAME AND MODEL OF CAMERA U ARE USING, SRY FOR CAPS
URGENT QUESTION: I am djing a club tmrw and am making my first transition from the s4 to cdj 1000s. in absolute mode can i set my hotcues before hand, on my pc, or do they need to be off of the cdj to work properly. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!
I want to set this up with my CDJ 1000 (mk2's) is it easy to set up?
can u use mp3 cd/ jukebox cds?? (with over 50 tracks on them) or just 15-20 tracks cds?
Mixvibes Cross doesn't have this short loop issues.
sorry im sure this is a dumb question but how do you save the cue points on the sd card when you're using timecode cds? can you do it beforehand or do you have to be doing it on the cdjs?
you need the timecode cd's to use it with serato. better option is using a device like cdj900 with hid.
hey mangy im having problems with playbacks of my loops and cues, im on rel mode but when i try to loop all it does is just continues playing with the song and doesn't loop. or when i try to hot cue certain parts it doesnt play, but just continues playing.

old school-best school

Hi I have a problem and I have the serato sl1 pionner mk3, but I feel like all the functions you could help please urgent thanks
also, do u need one of the SL boxes (1,2,3,4) in order to do this?
what does it mean when the cd says it can play for 15 min. ?
- is this software only available in 15 min per session or is it the maximum capability per song? :S

@ice2shit you need a rane sl1 or sl3 soundcard

What should be the threshold?

@djfabiotelo settings on cdj: mastertempo must be deactivated!
try the absolute mode
Soooooooo ...this is the only way to play mp3's on a cdj1000 i guess?
on MK3 you can burn mp3's on cd's and play them directly.
this was terrible to listen to, but i actually learnt a fair bit from watching it. my best offer is a half- thank you. enjoy.
@garotinho1108 you don't need it :)
@djfabiotelo Hi, your decks must be in absolute mode.
Yeah, because obviously you are.
