No wonder I stoped midway through the first episode when I was 15. I wasn't ready for it then. But now that I watched it, I can't believe I didn't back then. Ergo Proxy is life changing. Even though life is dark and cold and you never know what to expect next, it is beautiful and full of light and most importantly it is real.
I swear to god, the art style and animation of Ergo Proxy is so beautiful. I really hope we'll get more anime in the near future in a similar style as it was
anime like Ergo Proxy will never ever exist anymore and I see no show at all similar to it (anime or not, series, movies...), the only mix of four movies I see would be Equilibrum, Dark City, Blade Runner and Underworld with a spice of David Lynch and a dose of gothic, victorian and surrealism art into it as well as psychoanalysis, philosophy, ideology and mindfuck.
Yeah same for me, it was able to make you change your view on the world and your life because it is abstract, if it was not, it would not have done that because life does not give you answers to you, you have to find them yourself and it does not matter if you change your perception of the world by either what you truly are inside of you or what is around you, in either case, your change of perception will happen anyway. If we dig deeper into the series, it tells you by the references of the philosophers that you can believe that your perception change is metaphysical/phenomenal or logically natural because it does not matter if it is respectively a belief or a reality, you change anyway because you create your meanings for your way of life. Ergo Proxy also says to you that there is no moral in the world whatever the ideology of anyone (a religious or an anti theism can watch it, same with a xenophobic, homophobic or greedy and someone who defends immigrants, homosexuals and helpful people as well as a authoritarian, liberal/socialist/capitalist/communist or even populist can watch it among other things), nether good nor bad while still telling that in any case, there are consequences, a world is there to be flawed, it is impossible for it to be completely safe and peaceful or completely dangerous and hostile. Ergo Proxy is an anime that I discovered at a very positive time in my life and it brings me into a state of pure nostalgia whenever I hear this song. I wish I could go back to that time when everything was bright and I was excited about the future. This show, this song, those memories all create a storm of nostalgia that is almost too much to take.
