I chose this for my own father's farewell song, Bills songs have always managed to give me hope in these constant times of crapness - Bill is the undisputed king of British songwriting, in 40 +years of listening and collecting records I have never come across anything that touches Bills song writing - he is a bona fide god of lyrics
What an absolutely beautiful and heartfelt song - that genuinely brought tears to my eyes. How come I've never heard of this man before and why doesn't this video have millions of views?
An atheist, will always be... had my first really bad breakup, Moved back into parents box room. Looked through an oldish magazine of Mojo I had bought years ago as a train ride purchase. Saw again it's perfect score for 'life is people' one of my first iTunes downloads. I can say it may of saved me, actually did! And reassessed tears. An empty. Thank you Bill
Thank-you Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs) for giving up this man’s name and his music. 40+ years in the wilderness was much, much too long! Beautiful!
@@ThrashJazzAssassin77 I knew of that. But I tough he was just a huge fan. Not someone that helped directly hos career. Wich is very cool to learn since he did the same with Shirley Collins.
Whilst it's true the song is great it should be remembered that Fay is an arch Catholic and his songs are about God. That makes the songs religious in content and Catholicism is a part of the evils in the world.
Gonna give that comment a thumbs-down cos I don't hear too much judgement in Fay's songs - just a lot of empathy and compassion and the appreciation of simple beauty. It's hardly strident Papism. Perhaps he is of a Franciscan persuasion.

Montgomery 15 pretty much nails my comments. This song chokes me up every time.
A man who only wrote the songs he needed to write, and what songs!
Beautiful. So glad this is finally on RUclips, hopefully to never leave.
This seems appropriate right now...... cannot recall why I ever had it amongst an old playlist. Be safe all.
his music equals salvation...
What a fantastic god dam performance... a once in a lifetime...
C'est beau ,tout simplement beau !
I am so thankful that a host on CKUA Radio, Bill Fay music. I am astounded, and this is such a beautiful presentation that he did.
Fantastic, one of my favourites!

Greatest song of the decade?
I believe Bill Fay has even better songs. Check out «The Healing Day», for example!
Thank-you Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs) for giving up this man’s name and his music. 40+ years in the wilderness was much, much too long! Beautiful!
It wasn't him who first bought Fay back into the fold...it was Jeff Tweedy in 2007.
@@therepublicofcynica Yes, Tweedy. And Jim O'Rourke played a part in Bill's "rediscovery" too.
@@loratadine921Did David Tibet helped?
@@ayan5416 Yes, the original 2005 version of BF's Tomorrow, Tomorrow & Tomorrow LP was released c/o Tibet's Durtro label.

Maestro.
Doesn't get any more authetic than this
Genio!!!!
Genius!
Beautiful 🌹
Sencillamente mágico...gracias por volver después de 40 años.
It seems this is the only live video of Bill Fay on the entire Internet!
That's such a shame
and this is the only time an artist was ever allowed to pre-record for "Later...with Jools Holland" too shy to perform with the audience...
Listen to his first 2 albums ---- if you like this you be blown away by them - especially " Time of the last persecution "
Hermoso.
👍
et vous savez pourquoi c'est beau ?? parcequ'il n'a pas été défiguré et sali par le système !! c'est un innocent qui joue et qui chante !
Ah finalement un français 🇫🇷
gostaria de ter esta letra legendada em português brasil
