    For mountain climbers, Ed is the real deal. As far as the the mistake about 18,000 meters by the lady introducing him, she was clearly nervous and we all could slip up like that. She said she had read his book, I believe it. Give her some slack friends, Ed did.

    Love this man even though I'm no mountain climber. I'm amazed at his absence of ego! He has uncommon sense ie. a real man. Thank you Ed! He has so much to teach us all even if you NEVER want to even see a mountain!!!

    I've read all of his books, and each one taught me something about what it takes to achieve a dream. What he had to fight through, the pain, the exhaustion, frustration and if he didn't get to the summit, frustration and dismay, must have made the pursuit worthwhile. Climbing mountains isn't my personal dream, but I admire his successes. He seems like quite a personable and friendly guy.

    This guy is a model for all others to live by. What a wealth of character and charisma. We need more Ed Viesturs!

    I read the book Annapurna in 1990. It was also a tattered copy & I didn't know anything about it. It was a gripping read that I remeber to this day. Prolly time to read it again. Mountain with the highest death ratio, 33%

    Explains a lot why people die climbing.
    Great man, very impressive.

    One of the greatest climbers of all time in skill and character. Just my non climbing opinion.

      Well and he is still alive unlike many of the greats. So he has got the brains as well. Perhaps some luck, but he has the skill and smarts.

    A lot of people die for the sake of success rather than common sense to turn back. Summit fever. He said it and used his common sense. He is alive today to share his successful journey after his third attempt.

    Haha I like how she says he's climbed all the mountains over 18000 meters. I just climbed a 54,000 foot peak myself recently.

  • @RG-ja34sep
    @RG-ja34sep 6 лет назад +2

    She was loving the limelight, and to make it worse, she goes and says 18000 metre peaks. Wow how embarrassing! Hate it when people don’t do their homework.
    Another blunder is that it’s not the largest mountains but instead, the highest mountains.
    Ed is the complete mountaineer, totally respectful, humble, patient and talented. He is certainly one of the greatest of modern times, and what a fantastic speaker.

    Cmon would ya leave that lady alone who introduced him most people who talk publicly tend to mix up words and stuff also meters is probably a "foreign" unit to her so she wouldnt notice the logical problem immedeatlly

    what the fuck was that lady on... WHAT THE FUCK DOES A BUSINESS VENTURE HAVE TO DO WITH MOUNTAIN CLIMBING. also congrats Ed on all 18,000 m peaks, what an (unattainable) achievement.

    • @TheMoezilla
      @TheMoezilla 7 лет назад +3

      And congratulations to you for never misspeaking! Quite obvious to anyone who heard her, she obviously meant 8000. P.S. Does your "high" horse require supplemental oxygen?

    0:50 Peaks over 18000 meters? Are you on crack? Mt. Everest which is the highest is only 8850 meters.
