It's shocking how many US people in particular don't know ABBA - arguably more hits than the Beatles
Probably because they weren't particularly interested in the American marketing. Or, to be more exact, they didn't want to put down the enormous effort it would take. To make it big in USA you have to tour all over the country, and they prefered not to (especially Agnetha who were afraid of flying plus had two small kids at home). What I've understood from interviews with Björn and Benny they were totally satisfied with their success in the rest of the world and they even turned down a ridiculously lucrative offer from USA.

very true .... Agnetha in particular has a fear of flying, it already took a lot out of her to fly to Australia, anything more would be impossible for her ....
@@88feji You are so right.One time the plane went Into a storm and Agnetha was extremly scared so they could not go on stage.They had to cancel the show

Even today you can hear their songs on the radios and occasionally even in clubs
The Beatles are top of the list in all categories - number 1 singles and Albums - Lennon and McCartney would be head of the table as song writers - Benny Anderson and Bjorn Uvaeus would get a seat at that table as would for an example Bernie Taupin and Elton John / Mick Jagger and Keith Richard/ Barry , Robin and Maurice Gibb.
Now you need to go down the ABBA rabbit hole. The best pop band ever to grace this world 😊

Voulez-vous means "Do you want to?" in French. Basically, it's a come on to meeting people in a club... do you want to dance or do you want to come to my place for some loving. There's another famous song Lady Marmalade by the group Labelle (with Patti LaBelle) with the chorus of "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" which meant do you want to go to bed with me.

I'm from Sweden (just like ABBA) and I grew up during ABBA times and this is my absolute favourite of all of their hits. Fun fact: Some of their hits are also recorded in other languages (Swedish, German or French)

The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be imo. Not sure why they never took off in the US but perhaps it's not too late lol. I suspect they'll move the ABBA Arena to the US at some point, or maybe build a new one there so Americans can experience the Voyage concert.

I’m assuming you haven’t seen the Broadway musical turned movie, “Mamma Mia.” They based a musical around the songs of “Abba.” I grew up during the “Abba” era and never liked them that much. But dang, I watched the movie and then downloaded all the music. This scene with “Voulez Vous” is awesome!
