Our in-depth food review of British Hainan: sethlui.com/british-hainan-hainanese-pork-chop-singapore/
My late Hainanese father in law was a big time caterer for the British in the 60s. My wife recalled how he organised garden steak dinner on a super long charcoal grill with white uniformed chefs and cooks cooking on each sides. In those days parties like this is unheard-of.
Thanks for sharing!
I miss my father western food.
Will support! Last weekend I couldn’t find the place
my great grandfather is hainanese, cooked for the brits and had a beef noodle hawker stall. I wonder if we're distantly related to this guy. lol
you never know!
I have shared your story on Facebook Well done Frederick!

Yall really glamourizing colonization
more of recognizing our history
We are talking about food. What year is it already.
@@khokl9288 food is and always will be political and cultural
It's 2022 and there's no need to "honour your colonial master" through food.
Then you might as well eat plain rice daily without honoring your mom home cook food
