"Rock Bottom" isn't you're average everyday episode. It's an... advanced episode. So many iconic memes and gags. plus, I love all the weird creatures in this one.
@@josh_miester_x511 Pat rolls a d20 every morning to decide his intelligence, and again for his loyalty to Spongebob (most results for intelligence are leaning towards very dumb).

yep. and such moments help sell the seriousness of a moment when the usually chill or friendly dude finally snaps. when they do, those who can usually take a lot of shit, you KNOW you fucked up big time somehow!
Fun Fact: Pirates usually didn't wear eyepatches because of missing eyes. Ship holds were dark and it takes time for your eyesight to adjust to the dark, so they wore patches to already be adapted before they board. They willing took a disadvantage above deck to have an advantage bellow.
I know it's just a silly cartoon, but my headcannon for Rock Bottom is that the bus driver from the beginning was talking shit about SpongeBob to his coworkers. Basically resulting in a 'soft ban' where nobody was willing to pick him up.
yep. either that or the same bus driver is just that fast. either way, those buses felt like they were deliberately leaving spongebob out to say "fuck 'em". after all, they left WAY too fast for any bus driver doing his job and especially when it was clear spongebob was waiting at the bus stop such as when he disguised himself as a bench.
I remember being kinda scared of the Rock Bottom episode when I was a kid. It wouldn’t be until years later that I figured out it’s because as a kid, getting lost somewhere dark and unknown where people don’t speak the same language as you is scary as hell.
@@firstsomeonelastname42 also add to that that in 2000s there were no smartphones - so no GPS or translation app. It is literally being stuck AND losing your smartphone in a foreign city. TWICE AS BAD.
0:05 There were so many shows from the late 90s to the early 2010s that were timeless, SpongeBob included. Anyone who grew up watching these shows had a wonderful childhood
Rock bottom is that side of the country that looks bad and has a bad reputation but is overall filled with pretty alright people (considering that no one tried to harm SpongeBob)
You may not have seen this show growing up, but it is heartwarming to see you finally experiencing this golden gem. You're getting your childhood Alicia, and we get to be along for the journey.
13:00 Funny enough, the city I live nearby had their bus fares for a $1 until they raised the price $1.25. I think other nearby cities charge like $2-4 dollars.
The Rock Bottom episode was interesting, especially when we saw the type of sea creatures living in the ocean's dark crevices. Plus, we saw Spongebob get irritated when he can't catch a bus without it leaving him every time! usually Squidward does that when something bad happens to him
Oh God! Rock Bottom! 😂 0:59: Why'd it sound like you were excited for it or like the board game was cute or something? 😂 2:28: THE MEME! 3:18: Oh. The part where SpongeBob genuinely gets angry. 18:43: Let me guess, that's how you and Rich speak to each other sometimes? XD
12:00 I’d say the Dutchman is ‘rewarding’ Mr Krabs based on how he tried to throw SpongeBob and Patrick under the bus. He probably has some principles on how a captain should treat their crew seeing as he was one in life himself
I swear, you couldn't escape the Rock Bottom episode. Looking for a Spongebob episode from a recent season? Rock Bottom! Looking for a different show on the same network? Rock Bottom! Surfing on a different network!? Rock Bottom! Watching the news!? Rock Bottom!
In Germany, riding the tram to the next big city costs me about 14 bucks for both trips. That's about a 40 minute trip each time. It's cheaper to just go by car.
It's nice seeing you enjoy the show. Just don't forget that Stephen intended the SpongeBob movie to be an end to the series. You can think of it the same way.
I have a theory about the Rock Bottom episode. Because Spongebob was such a pest to that bus driver for smacking him with his balloon, he called all the bus drivers in Bikini Bottom and told them, "Do not let a yellow sponge wearing square pants on your bus."
Another person in chat pointed this out but Alicia was right about SpongeBob being 332 in line cause 3 more got added to the line but at least 1 person got taken away
Fun fact, they legit defictionalized the board game from this episode, along with another board game fron this show called Eels and Escalaters (which is basically Chutes and Ladders with a Bikini Bottom coat of paint).
These 2 episodes have a very specific vibe that some early spongebob episodes had (same with the halloween brain episode) which I adore. I don't know how to put it into words though
The Rock Bottom episode is inspired by deep dark trench in the ocean in real life, and you'll alien like sea creatures such as the Anglerfish. And the pressure and gravity is so strong it could perhaps kill you
Alicia, you fool, busses *were* 2.25 back in the early 2010s, but while I was in college in Toronto in late 2012, bus fare went up to three bucks, and that's the last time I remember it going up.
Out of everything in this episode, the wildest thing is that the board game just has an auto-win card. Not 5 like Yu Gi Oh!, no special conditions, you can just roll like shit and win.
Wow, my local bus system is one of the best in my state and it's 50 cents for a one way, $1 for an all-day pass. It's free for anyone under 18 and anyone with a valid student ID or disability. I didn't realize how good we have it.

Such as the Anglerfish
"Don't worry Spongebob, I'm coming back for ya!" OG Patrick wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he sure was loyal af.
He's only sharp when the plot demands him to be. Never forget the Secret Box.
Like Hagrid.
True dat 😂

It's legitimately precious to see you basically experience an aspect of many people's childhood, something you can appreciate decades later
This should be more of a thing for reaction series. RE-watching classic cartoons.
Goes to show how Spongebob Squarepants is timeless.
Always loved seeing Spongebob being rightfully angry. Showed that while he is a happy and friendly dude. He's not afraid to call someone out.
yep. and such moments help sell the seriousness of a moment when the usually chill or friendly dude finally snaps. when they do, those who can usually take a lot of shit, you KNOW you fucked up big time somehow!
Just so you know, Rock Bottom is based on a real area of the oceans, the deep sea where no sunlight penetrates and bizarre creatures dwell.
The infamous episode that started the widespread phrases of "Rev Up Those Fryers because I'm sure hungry for one- help help! MY LEG!"
Can't you see we're closed?

Honestly valid… also this makes way too much sense to me for it to just be a head cannon
Nah, Rock Bottom is pure shenanigans. All those bus drivers were doing it on purpose!
That’s basically the joke.
even worse, i like to think either that was the same bus driver every time or he told his compatriots to not give spongebob a ride just to spite him.

Dayum. Imagine the entire treasure chest worth 💀
I love hearing Mr Krabs call SpongeBob and Patrick “boys or “his boys” it’s really endearing
The fact that Patrick ride on the bus and left SpongeBob is funny 😄
9:33 When your crazy gf finds your phone unlocked
Ah good episodes. The nostalgia makes my stressful day better.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but there's a real life version of The Flying Dutchman's Treasure Hunt board game. They sell it at Hot Topic.

Rock Bottom is personal favorite of mine, the gag with the bus stop never fails to crack me up XD

Considering how those buses were moving, Patrick might've just dove into one & then called for Spongebob right afterward.
Spongebob hates missing the bus to Bikini Bottom, it's like catching up with the school bus to school
Both of these episodes are some of my favorites. Rock Bottom might have been my favorite for a while when I was younger.

10:40 The plot of MY HERO ACADEMIA 😂😂😂
The best part about these videos is Alicia discovering meme origins
Poor bus driver is frozen in pain as we talked about inflation of public transportation costs.
I just realized, Mr. Krabs in this episode was following the original ARG.
The "imagination" reference you mentioned is my favorite episode

These are all so good. I'm glad I remember all of them. Thank you Nickelodeon for keep repeating Spongebob to oblivion
The first few seasons of SpongeBob are pretty much considered the best quality in writing and entertainment of the show for many people.
To this day, I firmly believe that the Rock Bottom bathrooms are actually unisex and just have two doors to confuse and mock tourists.
SpongeBob can't lift weights, but he can lift Patrick like he weighs nothing. Cartoon logic in a nutshell lol
General rule of thumb, Alicia: If there's a meme you know, chances are it's from SpongeBob.
"Yo ho ho and a bottle of [Sand]"👁🏴☠️
Given how the bus was treating Spongebob, I wouldn't be surprised if it just abducted Patrick on the spot.
My guess is Patrick didn’t expect the bus to take off as soon as he got in it 😂

Mr krabs I wanna go to bed! Poor SpongeBob I care for this sponge and he needs his sleep

Chat talking about how patrick is a bad friend for leaving SpongeBob, first of all he's stupid, second of all HE WENT BACK FOR HIM
Where i live, a bus ride for an adult is $3
And for a Youth, its $2.25
Minor correction. The first 4-5 seasons are timeless. Once the show became Ren and Stimpy but underwater I dropped out.
