- I review, breakdown and explain Fallout Amazon Prime Video. I discuss the opening scene to episode 1 and react to the importance and deeper meaning of it. I analyze Cooper's mind and how it connected to the ending of season 1 where he was The Ghoul and his resentment towards Vault Tec. I also compare the hidden easter eggs, the game and give my theories and predictions on season 2.

What did you think of the opening scene in Fallout? Do you think it was perfectly crafted? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
For a Fallout fan it was definitely perfect. Not sure what general audiences will feel but I'm definitely excited to see a season 2 of Fallout.
No, i don't think it was perfectly crafted. Rather disappointing really.
I thought they missed some of the horror with the shockwave it was way to tame. On the whole I thought the first episode was amazing.
Meh
Very well made scene - sort of pulled me into the series.
I think the scene worked so well because everyone knew what was coming so there's this looming feeling of dread. Also I don't think Coop was doing the parties for a paycheck - he was bound to be loaded from all the films and commercials, I think it was to distract families from the political tensions especially since at this point he knew what Vault-Tec planned to do
It's possible that Vault tec took everything from Cooper. Given how powerful they are, it's possible.
I think his wife left him after discovering his spying. So he lost a lot of his money from that. Also it seems it may be public because of how the dads teased him about the thumbs up and calling him pinko.
Really good points tbf, I think if Vault-Tec found out though they would label him as a communist like the other actors that spoke up against them
The Dad's mentioned he was doing it for alimony, which means he had gotten divorced.
Agreed. He knew what his wife was up to and there was little he could do about it. Also, that explains why he hates vault-tec, and anything affiliated with it, which is why he’s jaded.
I really do like the “Is it your thumb or mine” really does simultaneously beams innocence and dread.
I know! Her line still sticks with me.... I really hope the mother didn't do anything crazy to her, Cooper deserves better.
the shivers that crawled up my spine were intense.
This line is already iconic.
@@tatepultroedgy bro
That was so ironically Fallout!
One of the small details that really got me was Janey asking, "Is it your thumb, or mine?"
At first, it seems like a straight-forward question from a scared little girl to her daddy. However, upon further thought, you realize it shows us a bit about Janey as a person, too.
It shows that in a tiny space of time, she absorbed and thought over what her dad told her about the importance of this simple gesture. It also shows she is a very clever little thing, as she has the presence of mind to realize, "Wait. . .Daddy is bigger than me, so what if the information only applies if you have grown up hands?" Granted, she didn't have the vocabulary to ask it that way, but it still made her ask the important question.
Exactly, well said.
Definitely think Janey is going to be a big character soon.
Holy shit a great analysis of yours
Did you notice right before picking up Jeannie after the blast, Cooper isn't wearing his cowboy hat, and when he's running through the lawn he's holding Jeannie's hat (his first instinct was to grab Jeannie and everything on her), before putting it on so his hands were free to get Jeannie on the horse. There's even emphasis on the moment he gets on the horse to give us a good view of the hat. And then, as the Ghoul, the hat looks a little too small on him. It's Jeannie's hat.
Really??
holy cow really?
@@CIeaner23 the part exactly when the blast wave smashes the windows and the guests turn around, you see Cooper in the background hovering over Jeannie and his hat falls over. When he gets up while everyone else starts scrambling, he no longer has his hat on. Also, Jeannie's hat had smaller side flaps sort of pointing up, while Cooper's hat had wider straight flaps.
After finishing the final episode, I see why Coop was so worried and why he was so gruff and jaded post-bomb dropping. He knew exactly what his wife was up to, and there wasn’t much he could do. 😢
Yeah it makes this first scene so much more meaningful and powerful!
Dang now I’m that much more curious to get to the finale. I’m on episode 5
@@BrainPilot rewatched the first episode after the last just cuz of that. loved the scene where he found out. gonna rewatch that episode today. wasn't such a big surprise to anyone who knows fallout lore already, they just wrote it in well enough for the characters to find out to keep it entertaining.
The weight on him realizing it was his wife that pitched intentionally ending the world themselves must have just eaten him alive inside.
Well also the fact that he directly participated in it
The young girl they got playing Janey do that opening scene with such fear in her eyes was incredible that girl sold that scene.
My brother and I are big fallout fans and we were silent as church mice when the bombs dropped. Just awe and dread.
I got chills
It was a hauntingly chilling moment!
It's so crazy because you know it's going to happen any moment. It makes sense for it to happen, but it still comes on so shocking and terrifying. It's such an impactful opening for anyone, whether you know the games or not.
The terrified acting of that little girl is incredibly impressive for those few moments she was in the show.
Yeah it was chilling!
Seeing the moments where the bombs drop never gets dull. The show’s intro brought me back to the opening of Fallout 4, just pure angst and terror and overall a great way to kick things off
The show did a better job of showing the bomb than Fallout 4, which rushed everything in a few minutes when it could have done it in parts like Fallout 3. We could have had multiple parts with Nathan interacting with Nora and Shaun over different parts of weeks or months, then maybe end with the nuke destroying Boston and entering the Vault around Shaun’s first birthday. It all happening in minutes in the opening of Fallout 4 made the opening prologue of Fallout 4 somewhat rushed and lame. I feel like it would make the hit of how Nate lost Nora a more significant plot point. Or vice versa with Nora losing Nate.
@@AdrianFahrenheitTepes I agree, but purely based on the ticking time bomb element itself it was still spine chilling to see how things went from normal to terror almost in an instant. It’s like it could happen in any household irl
F4 into wasn't that great. It just drags on and on. Some people want to make their character and roll out.
@@TheIrishRushin Honestly F4 prologue made me miss the first two, where you could just get your character sheet along with several preset characters if you chose, and get going.
@@TheIrishRushinI started playing Fallout 4 shortly after its release and am still playing it now, just not as much ofc. I like to try out different mods & dlc add ons, which helps.
Fallout the season overall absolutely perfect brilliant apocalypse themed chaos cannibalism fighting for power
Not to mention there is a zombie apocalypse in the mist of it all. Fallout is pretty much every apocalyspe trophe melded all in one universe.
You should play the games 🔥
i wouldn't say perfect they messed with years of preestablish lore :/
@@SwellHell.but they did do a damn good job. For being a show about a game franchise they nailed it. I'm a huge fallout nerd and I was very pleased they didn't butcher it. It felt like the universe and it seemed like the cast and crew cared about the original fans.
Edit: I'm still mad we only got a death claw skull and not the real deal though 😂
@@chrisquiett1776i think not showing everything in the first season was brilliant. gives you something to look forward to!
They really nailed the blend of satire / dark humor with moments of gravitas and emotion. My worry going in was that it’d just be nonstop jokes and over-the-top violence.
Since you mention it, one of the few complaints I’ve seen is that there’s too much slow-motion during the action scenes. But I’m pretty sure that’s a deliberate creative choice meant to reference the V.A.T.S. mechanic in the more recent games. 🙂
I agree with the mix of humor and serious moments. Marvel undercuts everything, making nothing feel like it has value, while this show was able to be funny without becoming a joke about itself.
I'd ditch the first episode all together and cut out the background drama with coop. Clean the show up and have the time of the episodes actually be more than 30 minutes. Recaps, credits, and "what's next" take up too much of the show. Just stick to FALLOUT and continue on.
Walton Goggins is an excellent actor (and an under-appreciated one) who has done so much good work with The Shield, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Vice Principals and other memorable roles. He does a phenomenal turn as Cooper in the Fallout series.
He's well appreciated, that's why he gets the gigs he does......duh
@@samarno1976 I guess that depends on the metric you're using- I think he's an excellent actor that deserves more than the single Critic's Choice Award he's achieved (2019 for Vice Principals). Nominated for various awards many times but no Emmy.
It was about time to get this man a Stellar Role, such a great actor
Enjoyed his work in Mojave also.
Also Mighty Gemstones.
Fallout is a great tv show. Full stop. No modifiers. not a great show based on a video game or a great adaptation of Fallout (which it obviously is), its just a great tv show period. The fact that this is such a amazing piece of work for someone who has no familiarity with the source material is astonishing.
By the way, first three episodes were directed by Jonathan Nolan. Christopher Nolan's brother.
How much they pay you for this comment? It was not great, it looked like a RUclips fan production with bad writing.
@bravofox_4556 maybe he overly praised the show, but it was pretty good. I don't know what you're on about being a bad fanfic
Get rid of episode one all together and the family drama parts and it's a good show.
It isnt perfect definitely had flaws in the writing which was all over the place but was an 8/10 show nonetheless
The man can act. He was staring at a wall and making us believe he was seeing hell on earth.
Genuinely!
Yes, the opening scene is perfect and this first season was perfect to me. This is the best from game to tv series I've seen.
Yeah I was surprised with how good the show was too! I was skeptical at first, but it definitely delivered!
Another reason why coop is working at a children’s birthday parties is explained in the intro when one of the parents says its because of alimony. Through the series we wonder what happened between him and his wife to then find out it was probably because he divorced his wife after what he found out.
Which is pointless. The entire back flashing shouldn't be in the show. Just make coop an asshole, do a short little "I was betrayed, hate vault tec, and now I'm an asshole ghoul because of it." Done, gets the point across, and doesn't add drama or filler to the show.
I disagree. The point is showing that this ghoul was a person, with a life and in doing that establish a connection with the viewers. It also is a mechanism to show people who didn’t play the games what life was like before and what happened (including his wife and Vault-tech involvement). Then also the threads of what happened to his daughter. All that isn’t filler. I appreciate the Sergio Leone man with no name type of character too, but I don’t think that would be necessarily better than what they’re doing with Coop and Walton Goggins in Fallout.
Yes I thought the Same thing. I couldn‘t Even Imagine how it could have been better
It was just so well done wasn't it! Everything was just so intentional and deliberate. I loved the way that on a rewatch you could really understand the struggle that Coop was going through inside of his mind and the secrets that he had within it
@@BrainPilot This show is an example how if you actually pay attention to the lore and avoid putting your own spin too it, Can actually work to make a great show. It is pure genius. Isn;t it great to be living in this time? less than a 5 years ago, when you tought of a video game adaptation to movie/live action you would of went''uf this is going to suck and be bad'' but now we are living in era of great material. Fallout, The Last of US, Twisted Metal, Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario, Detective Pickachu etc all of these are great example of good adapted video game media we have had in the past 5 years alone.
Get rid of first episode, cut out the drama coop backstory, and make Maximus a real knight instead of his sniveling weak character who might be autistic character. This is a show based on fallout, not a soap opera.
@@SonOfTheDawn515 Jesus some people love to moan. This show was more or less true to lore and WAY more accurate than the likes of LOTR. It's called character development. I've played fallout for over 700 hours (3, NV & 4) and I enjoyed the characters. It's like you can't enjoy anything🤣
I was worried it'd be woke and boring but it WORKED
It's not explicitly shown, but I actually think you misinterpreted coop's seemingly dead-end career as shown to us in episode 1, I believe the real reason he's working kids parties and associated with the communists is because he had a public falling out WITH vault-tec + wife included. Would lead to him being blacklisted by the vault-tec cabal. Just a theory though!
He talked about losing a movie because of the vault tec adverts he was doing. It’s not hard to believe the opposite could also happen. Vault-Tec on a warpath to end his career because of his spying.
Yeah you're right, the Fathers did call him a Pinko. And complaining that he still took their money.
Yeah this is what i reckon as well.
The first episode and coop backstory is just boring filler. Show is too slow.
That is quite a possibility. Since the two dad's lament that he is doing the party for alimony money. Upon his divorce ( which we have yet to see ), Vault Tec learning of his discovery of "The Plan". May have pushed them to go scorched earth on the Cowboy's reputation. The same two dad's mention that he has been accused of being a commie. So your thought here is giving more backing.
I loved all the VaultTec blue and yellow splashes everywhere - carpet, balloons, etc..
I am now starting Episode 4 and LOVING every minute of it - Music choice is wonderful... everything is Brilliant !!!! LOVE IN IT...
It only gets better ep 7 and 8 are my favorites easily
Yeah the music choice throughout the whole show is just so perfect
The old timey music makes me feel like exploring the wasteland with the radio on which i think is kind of the point.
The opening scene is probably one of the strongest openings I've seen in any media in last several years. Really gives you the exact feelings it is supposed to.
The scene is eerie.
Especially, when the daughter of the Coop rising her finger.
Yeah it was! The way the camera just moves around and as she raises it the smoke appears as a reflection in the window! So haunting
I cried like a baby..
Walton’s stunned stare was perfect too. I can’t imagine how a parent would feel in that moment. Absolutely terrifying.
Teagan Meredith, the actress that plays Janey, absolutely rocked the bomb drop scene! Her micro expressions were amazing. The fear and panic in her eyes, the need for reassurance from her dad. It instantly grabs the audience’s emotions as you see the end of the world from a little kid’s perspective.
Just finished binge watching it... and while it drags in a couple of places I am giving it an 8/10 and recommending a watch! The attention to detail (regarding game iconography) and, I have no idea how many, Easter Eggs there are, is excellent. The plot is outstanding and the script and actors excellent. It is not heavy on special effects as clever camera-work and directing substitutes. The violence can be a bit graphic (don't use the splatter settings when I play) but all in all not detracting... A couple of discontinuities - and Dogmeat could be a bit smarter and flexible - well, anyway, its a winner...
yeah honestly really suprised and impressed that they didnt completely butcher it lol
And hopefully this energy continues into season 2 and they pick up some feedback from this already-solid season. I think an 8/10 is a fair rating. I personally would probably agree, maybe an 8.5 at most
They did butcher it. Horribly.
@@rogercheeto_ ... and not "woke"
@@bravofox_4556 No they didn't.
I cried like a baby when that little girl asked if it was his thumb or hers.... ohhh man
Yeah that was so haunting!
Yes that upset me too. Just imagining having that kind of conversation with my little girl.
You cry easily man 🤨
It really was a great set up for the show (and the Ghoul/Cooper character) and I think one of the best things about it was, while there are plenty of Easter eggs and meaning behind the scene for game fans, it's also a really solid introduction for people watching the show who haven't played the games. It helps set up the premise and also shows how this is a universe unlike ours, stuck in a 50's aesthetic with technology that is both old-fashioned and futuristic. It's smartly done.
Except the first episode was slow and boring and the coop backstory shit is nonsense drama filler. Cut out that background shit and the first episode and the show is actually decent.
@@SonOfTheDawn515 So you'd rather him exposition dump about how "woe is me, Vault Tec evil, ruined everyone's lives, I'm angry now. Breah." instead of cinematically showing us through the characters and their actions Pre-War. What is your favorite part of Fallout, man? Is it just the shooty shooty bang bang you care about or is it the lore of the series in which it systematically makes fun of the real world and the ideologies of everyone?
The only thing that _slightly_ bugged me about Coop was his surname. Cooper Howard. Every time someone said "Mr Howard" in the show I couldn't help think of Todd Howard lol
I keep thinking of mr house lol
That thought crossed my mind as well, but I think it was just a coincidence. Howard is a pretty normal surname after all.
@@Antares2unless it’s an Easter egg to Godd Howard
It’s probably just another glitch Howard made
I binge watched the whole season very early & oh my what a fantastic show! As a fan of Fallout games this show did it justice. Great breakdown in the intro 🎬👌
No... it didn't
@@bravofox_4556why not?
To me, that haven't played any fallout games (although i've been scolded by some friends for that) and only knew the basics, it's probably one on the best presentations i've ever seen.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt genuine fear watching something the way I did when watching the intro to Fallout. The goosebumps were insane and I actually felt a tear of fear start to form in my eye. Felt like I was really there.
Its easy to forget through the fantastical and sometimes wacky world of fallout, that human extinction by way of nuclear war is a very real possibility as of this very moment.
my hope is that the ncr has remnants in new vegas for the 2nd season, camp mccarran is likely still standing
The best thing about this show is there are no annoying characters!
Vault dweller and Maximus are very dumb characters, the whole show should be about the gouhl
Maximus annoyed me. But annoyed doesnt mean he is a bad character just unlikable for how entitled he acts
@@cjm7685 The "gouhl"
Maximus was awesome. Rode the line of dopey and badass perfectly. Ghoul is obviously mvp, walton just continues to dominate the character actor scene.
All the characters are annoying
The series works well. Makes new people wanna play fallout, Hell it's why i'm trying it out now, its cool.
A Ron Perlman cameo would have made it more perfect.
Hopefully he's the shady character in the Vault-Tec meeting room
The transition to goggins character realizing it is nuke was just chefs kiss.
So basically given the time for the Shockwave to get to them and the size of the Fireballs in city blocks per (nukemap),
These were 500 kiloton attacks.
But the buildings looked too big given the time for the fireball to arrive. This is probably because if the city was really 15 miles away it would have been very tiny.
This is a good example of how Fallout's physics follow the "Rule of Cool" more than actual physics, as trying to analyze most of its universe with real-world physics will only result in a long list of "WTF" observations lol
@@cryptophoenix2023 That's also just a feature of Hollywood, too.
When I look at the building's downtown about 14 miles away, the entire 30 block by 40 block area looks about as big as one of the buildings.
But otherwise, the math all works out.
they are in Beverly Hills which is 12.8 miles from downtown LA. the first bomb dropped on the eastern side of LA. Shockwaves travel about 343 m/s. Given their distance, that would take just slightly over 1 minute to reach them which this scene is around the 50 seconds mark so not too far off
It would have been perfect if the tv show was way more than 8 episodes. For example showing how they survived the nuclear holocaust how they got separated. Like that the content was mashed into 8 episodes and many things were left unclear !
Hopefully we'll get more of this in a second series. Actually it makes a lot of sense thematically since Coop is a part of the old world and, like in the games where we find out bits and pieces about the past in non-chronological order, we find out more about his life in the same way.
Also, no spoilers, but I think his story was very well done because even though we didn't get the resolution to certain questions by the end of the series it still felt complete. Indeed, I didn't even notice the hanging threads until I'd slept on it.
I think it's very telling that the second season was greenlit before the first went live, and in all likelihood they started with a plan for more than eight episodes.
It's going to be multiple seasons my guy. They already greenlit season 2.
I Guarantee thats coming. Cooper had to be making a Mad- Dash to the Vault, to save her little girl.
The End is a solid top 5 of favorite cinema scenes of all time for me. I wish I could see it on IMAX.
Dude this video is so good i just got done praising your insight and you mention chernobyl and how they mimic that shows performance of the explosion on the plant. You got a good finger on the pulse of this show pal!
Thank you, it means a lot! Glad you enjoyed the video
I’m on episode 6 i love the show and references also I played all the fallout 3-4 and new Vegas 100 times my girlfriend never played the games but is watching it with me and loves it too !
I really like the way you argument everything, very nice watch
Thanks!
Absolutely exceeded all of my expectations!!!
I went into this jaded and watched two episodes and like it. All the characters work.
I love the color scheme that is used throughout the opening scene. Blue and yellow like Vault Tech colors. Even his clothes he is wearing. Nice little touch.
I didn't spot that at first but it is a real good touch!
@@BrainPilot it is the artist in me.. :) Thanks for the great videos!
Very chilling. The camera's flashing inside and then the SILENT flash behind was pretty intense and then all goes silent.
This honestly brought me back to when I first played Fallout 4 when it first came out. One moment I was just playing as a mom putting her baby son down for a nap and being happily married to a loving husband, the next my character was racing to the nearest vault with her husband and son trying to avoid imminent death from the bombs and approaching apocalypse...
One thing you didn't dwell on that I thought was *very * effective is the shot composition - most of the shots in that scene are framed to draw the viewer's gaze to the skyline, ramping up the tension in the viewer who knows what is coming but doesn't know when exactly it is going to happen, so they're watching the actors but also watching the background for the bomb to finally end the uneasy waiting.
Yes, the entire time I was like stop teasing me!
The role switch where to so called good guys dad turn out to be the bad guys and the so called raiders turns out to be someone that tries to save the world without needing of tyranny leadership is crazy even though some of her men can be problematic(refer to ep 1) but still
To be fair to them, a lot of them are likely survivors of the fall of Shady Sands, so they would have had at least a decade or more to build up a LOT of resentment and wrath for the people (in this case, "management") who destroyed their lives. (For a second time, if you think about it, though all unbeknownst to them.) about
I watched the whole season overnight, and I love it! They toned the darker side a bit, to please all audiences I suppose (gamers and nons), and they still managed to do a stellar job. The actors are well casted, the decors are just wow, the costumes too (awards incoming). They even used some of the in-game music, as well as the 50s classics used in the game.
I just wish they'd pick one "hero" (the Ghould would be my choice) and take us along his/her journey. The constant back and forth between the vault, Lucy, the Ghoul, and BoS / Maximus, had my head spinning. I wish we stayed with Cooper, as he encounters the other characters (like we would in the game).
I don’t mean this in a bad way, but you referring to people as “gamers and nons” has the same energy as “What’s the matter smoothskin? Never seen a ghoul before?”
I also really like that Cooper explained through his marines background in the opening how the "thumbs up" gesture indicates that when it comes to dropping bombs, at some point no vault is going to save you. So when he threw the thumbs up in the Vault Tec advertisement earlier in his story's timeline, it was his subtle way of being like "this company is kind of a joke".
When watching this scene I thought the family hostning the party would be the ancestors of Lucy
I'm still on the HypeTrain for this series! That show was such a Fantastical ride, start to end! Very few complaints on my part, happily surprised. It was So AWESOME!! Always been a fan of Walton Goggins. I finished the show last night and replayed Fallout 4. 👏🏽💯🤠🥳
A month ago I was worried it'd turn out like HBOs Velma 😒🤮
as someone who played the games as soon as i saw that this was prewar America i knew exactly what day it was
This is the kind of love and quality I’ve wanted in a video game adaptation.
Yeah it's such a good show and it seems to have respected the source material!
Spot on with the orange sky comment, I also noticed that in the final scenes of the show, the orange sky is prominent during the ghouls final speech☺️👌🏻 felt the directors really took advantage of the blue and yellow colour scheme, throughout this scene, Reminded me of the use of colour in the beach scenes in jaws. They also really pushed the greens in the foliage as its the only time across 8 hours of a series that we see any 👍🏻
A couple of unrealistic bomb detonation aspects were the flash effects of the blast (the daughter would have been blinded) and the extreme HEAT that would have been felt. They were too close to avoid either affect.
Great sci-fi series I'm a fallout fan and own all the games still a very active fallout 76 this has been so good to watch this I'm loving the Easter eggs to.
I had the fortune of watching the first two episodes in a theater at an advanced screening, and let me tell you, this opening on the big screen send absolutely horrified chills down my spine at every bomb drop. What a way to hook in an audience.
I bet that opening scene was awesome in the theatre!
really enjoyed it as well. highly recommended.
It's a great way to get the people who never heard about the games to get into the picture for sure.
Little girl was great, wish she was in more of the show
The pre-war scenes don't serve purpose other than adding drama and don't fit the game series. Cut the coop drama, just make him an asshole and be done with it.
There needs to be an edit where its just a mini-season of all the pre-war scenes stitched together chronologically with the intro being the finale
The fact that the president is missing and that the weatherman alludes to possibility that he knows what's about to happen dose a hint how far Vault-Tec influence may go and what they can do. I kind of hoping for an Enclave vs Vault-Tec storyline in the future, both being secret cabals that pre-date the bomb being dropped and used their influence for nefarious ends. What I love about show so far is that managed to make enclave look better in compassion to Vault-Tec, and that saying something! Also, That detail of vault boy being based of cooper is something I did not notice.
That small glimpse of Inon Zur style orchestra
I loved the opening scene so much I had to rewatch it several times! Excellent in so many ways that one viewing cant appreciate them all.
Yeah it was just such a great scene!
I have not had a chance to finish even this episode, but I can say I watched the first 10 minutes with my roommate as he was watching....And this opening had me on edge, while also being blown away by the detail they put into it. Then the first bomb went off, and I honestly had tears in my eyes. It is a show based on a game series that has never made me really tear up, and I was stunned. I truly hope that I enjoy the rest of the show, but if not, this opening was glorious.
Just started this series and i definitely agree the beginning scene was perfect and impactful. Hooked me in as someone who hadn’t heard of this before
Yeah it was mesmerising wasn't it!
Believe it or not my favorites parts in the tv show was the pre war scenes, I remeber when I first played fallout 3, I used to pass by all the rusting pre war cars and wondered what kind world existed before the fallout
Ew.
After learning about houses involvement with vault Tec in the show im convinced even more that siding with him in new Vegas is the bad option
Nobody here is talking about how the camera flashes leading up to the initial bomb drop literally act as a countdown. Flash, flash, flash, FLASH. 3, 2, 1, 0. This also explains why the flash of the bomb didn’t catch the attention of everyone inside at the party. It was preceded by other flashes. PERFECT.
it is indeed a good idea to watch the opening of episode 1 season 1 again after you finish season 1.
it does make it more heavy and should make you hope they get you up to that scene in season 2. from the moment he sighs the autograph to him asking his daughter to join him on his new ( this ) job or them driving/arriving there.
I seriously choked up and teared up when the girl held up her thumb.
thanks
I binged the whole thing. Honestly surprised, Amazon seems to have learned from their mistakes with Rings of Power and handling popular IPs. Each lead is great, and while Norm I don't think is considered a lead and you might not like him at first but his later scenes and growth is just as interesting as the others and he's a lead in my book. There are some slog parts, vault 4 sequence was plot wise pointless and seems just for a joke. The only thing that could be considered a reason for that sequence is the dual overseer asks Lucy what was her Vaults experiment, she replies "what do you mean it's just a normal vault." And she gets called naive for it and her character doesn't seem to pick up that all Vaults are indeed experiments. Granted hers being less obvious and more just a front for frozen vault-tec executives to become overseers when the time comes. Max losing his mind and acting so stupid after eating good food and wearing a robe a slippers was really annoying. He almost seems stoned and loses his whole personality over it. Doesn't care or listen to Lucy's concerns about vault 4, it was just too out of character for him. I see what they were trying to do, showcase how bad Max has had it while also showing him why and how Lucy is the way she is. But just over the top in his reactions to vault life. But I am fully invested in this now. I want to know how Ghoul(Coop) wound up a ghoul. I think it's too obvious that he just didn't make it to a vault. His wife being who she was they definitely got a cryo vault which why in the end he asks where is his family, he knows they're alive or frozen. I need to go back and pause when Norm is looking at the cryo list, His wife brought up the idea of Vault 33 (3 vaults connected, 1 being cryo unit) so his family could be or is in Lucy's home vault. So was he removed/unfrozen from the vault he was in early on or earlier than his family, or they just didn't let him in because they found out about the bug, I think his wife knows it was him. Last we see of pre bomb him is when he's running with his daughter in hand to a vault but an unknown amount of time has passed and he's divorced, I think miss ex wife took him off the list, daughter goes in with her mom already there and then he gets the bad news. Lucy kills it as the doe eyed Alice in wonderland. Speaking of that actresses eyes steal the scene every time. She has good albeit slow growth into the distrust and violence needed to survive while still being herself by using safe swear words while having to do gross/violent things. I was hoping she would lose the vault suit for some wasteland clothing and armor. They kinda tease you with this when she starts sporting a leather chest piece but it's removed by the next episode and even in the final shot when she comes out of the tomb she's still in the vault suit. I thought they would make her behave like most players and get gear and armor as she progresses. A few hiccups (in my opinion) but absolutely recommend this to any fan of Fallout. This has to be a weird watch if you never heard of Fallout lol.
That actor did a phenomenal job as a coop the ghoul bounty hunter
Yeah, he was my favourite in the show to be honest!
I had hoped that he will be Fallout's Cad Bane and he was :D
I came downstairs to find the family watching (Ep 3?) and "I don't want to set the world on fire". I nearly lost it.
Im so happy that they did this so well. so many things absolutely butchered in the past but this a blessing, and with one of my favorite fantasy universes ever!
The scene had me hooked
That song is at least in some way referring to the bombs but using them as a metaphor. There was a surprising amount of music about radiation, nuclear war, nuclear fallout etc. Its why so much of the music is integral to the vibe of the setting. Its really a time not long ago with genuine fear, almost certainty that the world would end.
could NOT agree more!!!
Glad you agree!
neat subtle detail - you don't see any planes dropping bombs or any rocket trails giving a little hint at what was really behind the bombs.
Which retconned the entire FO lore.
@@SonOfTheDawn515Howso?
@@Elendrian no planes or rocket trails meaning that Vault-Tec had prepared and set off the bombs themselves, no external enemies had did it
@@donegonefighter So it's not possible that an external enemy did it first, and then they followed suit and expedited their plans? Considering the lore for the show, that seems to explain New Vegas even better. House knew it was coming, but the timeline was expedited, hence why he couldn't get his chip.
I'm still not seeing any retcons.
@@Elendrian sir the only knowledge of fallout i know is a 40 minute summarisation of everything but i watched it on 2x speed
As soon as I saw that it was a kids birthday, my heart sank. I knew what was about to happen, so it was only a matter of time
It’s got good makeup and cgi for the Ghoul, and it’s really a good interpretation of the game
ever since that first scene.... I felt the exact same. after finishing the series I've come back to watch this first nuke scene and analyze just how expressive it was of the human condition in such circumstances.
I stumbled onto Fallout almost totally cold. I am a Walton Goggins fan and would give 10-15mins to anything he is in. The 40s, and 50s environment and the music associated with it was refreshing but the alternate timeline of being 50 years in the future got me hooked.
It was mind blowing to see how well this show actually is, I did not expect it to be so well done after watching it its literally so good and hopefully season 2 will be even better or just as good as season 1 🙏
Another reason is this and the song in the credits are the songs on the pipboy you can listen to while exploring the wasteland in the game. Hell I thought I was playing it as the show started.
There was a minor detail you missed (don’t worry too much about it). When the two men were wondering about why Cooper Howard was entertaining at children’s birthday parties, one of them suggested that it could be for alimony. This seems to heavily imply that Cooper (understandably) divorced his wife.
I love the line thou shall get distracted by bullshit when the main mission goes a rye 😂
Every damn time is what he said.
Also, it's awry.
I just finished all 8 episodes, and I loved it. I really look forward to the next season. My only hope is that the next season is a bit longer; like 12 episodes or something.
Simply well made and well written. Good actors and special effects.
It had some comedy that didn't undercut the serious moments (like Marvel does). They were able to combine the over-the-top weirdness of the Fallout universe with a plot you actually start to care about.
As a person familiar with the games, some of the plot twists were predictable, but that just shows that they were getting the tone and style right.
Way better than expected.
One thing I hate is that shady sands was nuked into bits, BoS being a prominent power again, which we all know in the games that the NCR is a powerhouse in the Cali region
Agreed. Overland Howard showing his usual petty contempt for Obsidian’s Legacy by creating the ever-popular Fallout: New Vegas. 😅
Well since maxis has reunited the brotherhood and took it over they are returning to their roots the brotherhood aren’t what the Washington brotherhood used to be they are tech preserving fanatic cults that are wary of outsiders and really aren’t good
@@Callsign_Neuro But the BOS are basically one of the villains with the ncr being seen as the good guys and even getting the epic main theme upon showing the flag.
At least their presence was less than that of Washington DC where groups of Knights are deployed on the Mall, as well as walking throughout the rest of the ruins purging Super Mutants.
Also, nice to hear the FO3 theme in there as well, great contrast.
Well tbh, you’d rather have the BoS battle it out against the Enclave cuz it was the Enclave that manhandled NCR at Shady Sands
As a fan of the games there are lil things that stick out to me like evertime maximus is called a squire when he's not, squires are children training to be soldiers, but outside of small lil lore things I loved the show overall, the first episode rly felt like I was playing fallout for the first time, ad the atmosphere in the opening scene is so good. I personally think that the ghoul was betrayed by his ex wife and was left outside to die, that or valt tec but she works for vault tec so that kind of goes hand in hand. The scene where the ghoul is asked to take a picture and refuses to do the thumps up, the two dads call Howard a pinko under their breaths, pinko is a derogatory term to refer to someone on the far left political spectrum, which implies that Howard kept going to the meetings or was outed for the one meeting and spying on his wife
It's more taken from the historical medieval ranks. A squire back then was an attendant to a knight before becoming a knight himself.
@joebenzz I'm talking about in-game lore not historical real life, in game the position maximus is in is call initiative, squires in game are children within the brotherhood ranks
The thread about the damaged Hydro processor was cut off in crypt 33
Cool thing that first scene shows that it wasn't the airbombs or rockets. At first I was wondering "They forgot to add effects of planes or missles?" and in last episodes they show why it looked so strange.
One of the greatest 🔥🔥
Loved. :)
This show blew my expectations out of the water. Way better than I thought it would be
That's amazing!
I was just watching a reaction to it and was filled with DREAD and tension.
