  • Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! Another great episode that wasn't necessarily a super deep episode but does give some great insight to the strategic thought process and how the counter offensives stopped what could of been a great victory for Germany. Great song and love seeing thier personalities as you can tell they truly enjoy each other.

There needs to be a part 2 that covers the part of the "Race" that the song is about.

It is disappointing that they didn't cover more of Belgium's history in this period. Especially cause the song tells the Belgian perspective.
Belgium was almost overrun by the Germans, only the northern part of the country remained free. So King Albert I of Belgium ordered the flooding of the Yser river by destroying the Dam. The flooded river stopped the Germans, and the Belgians held the line for the rest of the war, defending the last free piece of Belgium.
King Albert I of Belgium is known as the Knight-King, he fought alongside his men at the front. He was the highest ranking commander in World War I, and the only Sovereign to directly fight in World War I. The Germans avoided firing on him out of respect for his valor and because he was the cousin of German Kaiser Wilhelm II.
Queen Elisabeth of Belgium served as a nurse in World War I, and prince Leopold (The future Leopold III of Belgium) served as a soldier in the army.
And Belgium was the only country that didn't execute soldiers who deserted from the army, and instead, sent them to prison, because The King had witnessed the horrible conditions of the frontlines himself.
He also led the final offensive of the War. As Commander of the Army Group Flanders which consisted of Belgian, French and British divisions he liberated occupied Belgium.
King Albert, Queen Elisabeth and their children then reentered Brussels to a Hero's welcome.

@@JTMMTV After Sarajevo (beginning of ww1) you should listen to Versailles (end of ww1). They go together both lyrically & musically, they bookend the 2022 album "The War To End All Wars" really nicely.
The song "The End Of The War To End All Wars" is also about the end of ww1, (from 2019 album, The Great War)
btw. no wonder they chose The Great War as a title first... it's WAY easier!

There will be a new song out on 20th of january.
Details (including the song name and topic) are on their official website. I wasn't sure how much "spoilers" you wanted to avoid, so I give you none. 😎
Apparently they will have the animated story video as well as the lyric video out for it then, but NOT the history episode. So, if you wan't to react to it when it drops, you'll have to do the history later whenever it comes out...

If you want good war movies recommendations that aren’t Hollywood crap here I’ll write down some.
Das Boot (ww2), Stalingrad (1993 Version), Downfall/Der Untergang (ww2), All quiet on the western front (ww1 new Netflix movie that is actually decent for once), 1917 (amazing brilliant ww1 movie beautifully shot).
The 2 most historically accurate war movies I mentioned there in order of best first is: 1. Das Boot 2. Downfall/Der Untergang. All of the movies are good tho.
Honorable mentions has to be two ww2 series one called Band of Brothers and the other is The Pacific. Indy has actually mentioned them in the Screaming Eagles history vid I think.
These are the good ones that I can think of on the spot any others I’ll add as a response.

You mentioned you were open to actually watching or reacting to Indy’s ww1 week by week series in this video. You are aware that the week by week series is like 200 episodes long right? He literally spent 4 years on that series.
If you are committed than I’d gladly spend my time watching those reactions videos considering you will learn a lot and I’ll give any info I can. I personally have already watched it I even binged it which took me around 1 week but it helps that I’m a massive history nerd.
The only realistic way for you to react to that series however is if you upload 2-3 reactions videos each week on that series. That is the only realistic way to finish it in any okay amount of time unless you wanna take 4 years watching it.
Regarding the quality of it I consider the ww1 week by week series to be the BEST source of ww1 information on RUclips where you will gain all the context to understand almost everything about the war.
The thing is if I were you I wouldn’t start it until I’ve had a long mental discussion with myself asking if you are gonna actually be dedicated to watching it. Because trust me starting it and then stopping at 30 or maybe even 60 episodes Is extremely disappointing and just a letdown so you’ll have to think if you can actually stay interested to keep going the entire way.
There’s currently one small channel on RUclips that is reacting to it he’s around 100 episodes in at this point but he’s into history so that helps (I’ll link his channel as a response).
Anyway just wanted to bring this up for your own sake so you can think about this and that I’m sure many others don’t like if someone start a series thinking that they can finish it but then stops a bit into it. Would understand if you stop only if you thought it was boring (somehow).
I’d love a thought out response from you in how you would even consider watching it if indeed you do watch it and react to it as well.
There are 3 videos from that channel which he did to explain how ww1 started (in much more detail) which I will recommend reacting to before you start the week by week series once I’ve heard what you think if you indeed will maybe react to it.
Anyway have a good day and hope your doing good loved the reaction.

I "enjoy" war/ wartime movies &tv-shows, but I'm really picky about them. Either a well done "based on a true story" OR I go full on Taratino or the Black Adder -series (and even then there should be period accurate clothing, slang, military protocol etc.)
I love when Indy & Joakim / Pär get sidetracked! I've noticed that especially in the newer episodes the "interview- part" tends to be longer & more all over the place.
They literally had an "outtakes" episode on the channel in january 2021, that had both actual bloopers & clips of fun interview bits from the episodes (episode number 101, they had basically caught up on the songs at that point, but there's been quite a lot of new songs since then). - This One Is For You! - Farewell But Not Goodbye - Sabaton History 101 [Official] ruclips.net/video/tc_-QiLxPxE/видео.html
Few extra Sabaton/Indy videos that are little bit of the beaten path 😉:
The first meeting of Pär & Indy in 2017, which in part lead to the talks on creating the Sabaton History channel & getting Indy (& his crew) to partner with then on it. The channel was launched less than 2 years after this was filmed. They did not know each other at this point!

I would definitely recommend watching Indy's channels, but it might be better to watch something less intense and detailed first to get a better understanding of the bigger picture before diving into a week-by-week break down.
Epic History TV covers each year of WW1. While their vidoes do skip over much of the smaller details of the war, they provide a great platform to base any further research into the subject on.

    • @melkor3496

Yeah Epic history TV is good too tho I would say his series was on a much more basic level of presenting ww1 than something compared the the Ww1 Great War series from Indy.

    • @danielbenson9942
      @danielbenson9942 Год назад

@@melkor3496I agree that it is very basic, but I suggested starting with something like that because JTMM didn't seem very familiar with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in the reaction to the song.
Sabaton does cover that in another episode, but an introduction to the war as a whole would probably be useful just to provide an overview of a very complex topic.

@@danielbenson9942 I think something that would give him all the context he needs about the time shortly before the war and the death of the Archduke amongst many other factors is the 3 part series by the ww1 channel called “Prelude to war” series by Indy. That 3 part series explains much more than most videos and I planned to ask him to react to these 3 videos before he starts a ww1 series.
