- One of the two preteens who were involved in the “Slender Man” stabbing of their friend is asking to be removed from the mental institution. Now 21-year-old Morgan Geyser has requested that she be released from the Winnebago Mental Health Institution after she was initially sentenced to 40 years in the mental facility in 2018. Law & Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks it down.

She gonna go to jail thou right ?
the other kid did.
@@NerdGlassGamingPA no. She will only go to jail if she gets conditional release and then violates those conditions.
In this case there is no jail time. She’s insane and a danger to society. It’s why she’s not being released. It’s normal to go through the process to ask. Yes if she’s ever deemed stable and not a threat to society she would be released like the other girl. It didn’t happen here and probably never will but she is young and it depends how many problems she has. Is it possible one day she will get out, yeah. Likely too? No

The other girl was actually the ring leader.

I’m not saying that’s right… but she was 12 & she’s schizophrenic. Folie À deux it seems too.
Admit it, you didn't know what that meant until they announced the sequel to joker.
This is about HER mental state though.
And? No one said the victim didn’t experience trauma, and a kid acting on a path of darkness could absolutely traumatize his or herself in the process. Why do you think snipers have so much ptsd?

I hope Morgan doesn't get released for the safety of the public but also for this girl's sake 😢
If I was her I would get my justice by my own hands since the system has failed.
I'm shocked the other girl is free, without the ankle monitor....which is how they agreed to let her go free. Wtf.
She spent 2 years with the ankle monitor.
I’m assuming her psych Evals, and what proved that she may have been influenced by this girl and was just naive and obsessed with slenderman.
She also didn't do the stabbing. She just egged the other girl on. So she had a lesser sentence due to that
@@britnylawson4191 In my opinion, that is just as bad as actual stabbing.
@@elizabethhuie563 well, shared delusion or also called as Folie à deux is a complex thing. Anissa was so heavily influenced by Morgan that she believed that Morgan's delusion was reality. And from what I have learned in regard to both of their backgrounds, Anissa was easier to influence because of her low self-esteem. I was almost sucked into a shared delusion in 2019, and I snapped out of it before something bad could happen. And from my experience, people like Morgan, there is something very dark in their personality and it is scary. There are enough people with Schizophrenia, who don't go around and kill people. However, there has to be something else that makes her have the desire to lure another person into her delusions. Anissa was wrapped in this reality when this happened, and she would have not done this, if she wasn't wrapped in Morgan's delusion. So, now that she is not in contact with Morgan, she functions normally. And for what I have seen, she actually has remorse and know that what she did, was bad. So, Morgan is really the main problem here.
Slenderman told me that they shouldn't be released yet. 🤷🏼♂️

If she hasn’t accepted that she’s mentally ill, she shouldn’t be free in society. By saying she pretended to be ill at the time of the crime is admitting she just murdered her friend for fun? In that case, she should not be in society.
@@northerngirl4666 she won't be released into society from Winnebago, she'll go to a supervised group home. She's already entered the community 6 times with success.
She's not admitting she murdered for fun by saying she pretended to be ill. Her belief that she faked her symptoms is likely part of a delusion she has. Remember she's not currently on antipsychotic medication.
19 stab wounds the victim has suffered and reminded every day about it when she looks at herself, I can’t imagine the PTSD she also must suffer through. All this is very sad
I fell şad for her l hope she ok
Not everybody suffers PTSD for the rest of their life. Also, scars are superficial. Society likes to tell victims they are always victims. That young lady is now a survivor. She is strong. She is a hero for herself as she saved herself. We should applaud her for having resourcefulness to have survived. Not condemn her as a permanent victim. We give her justice by keeping the monster's who attacked her and got a new DSM5 criteria of early onset schizophrenia created just for them, locked up for life.
@Skitdora2010 this girl survived because one of the stab wounds stopped at ONE HAIR of separation from the heart. The stabs where really deep, and several of them, and still found herself semiconcious when the bicyclist found her. She trusted them, her "friends"
I'm not by any means the one allowed to diagnose, but .... sadly, severe complex- PTSD is very much likely to have happened here...
@@Skitdora2010 There is a big difference between people who society says are "victims" and people who actually are victims of a crime. I'm a guy who isn't easily affected by most things and I was involved in a altercation with a stranger while working. I was assaulted physically completely out of nowhere, unexpectedly because the guy thought I was a CIA agent. I was a delivery person delivering a pizza next door. This guy came up to my car and sucker punched me through my window and stabbed me 3 times before I even knew what was happening to me. For years afterwards I was paranoid of anyone walking up behind me. It wasn't a conscious thought, it was a real fear based on experience. When I saw those stab wounds in my neck in the morning, it made me sad. When I see those scars now, they aren't battlewounds I am proud of. Sure, I survived but that doesn't take the trauma away from what happened. The betrayal I felt from a fellow human. But society isn't telling me to feel this way. It's just what it is. Someone made me a victim, and the emotions involved in that are personal to everyone.
@Skitdora2010 it is not about Society, it is about how she feels. We don't know if she has it but it is a pretty safe bet she does getting stabbed 19 times at 12 years old Use some common sense.

Agreed
Sounds like she's ready for grownup prison.
I don't believe that she didn't experience psychotic symptoms before the attack, and that she was essentially making it up. I think she's saying that now because she wants to leave the facility, and she thought that blaming the attack on prior abuse would gain sympathy from the court. That's concerning.
That could very well be the case.
its all to avoid jail. "you cant lock me up im insane" 10 years later... "im not insane and never was now let me out of this"
Absolutely manipulating
I really feel like she falls under ASPD (antisocial personality disorder) because she definitely is a sociopath who has no remorse for her actions and only is upset about the consequences that affect her. As well as her mirroring people could be linked to BPD but she’s mirroring people to gain control as well as a manipulation tactic. She could’ve easily manipulated the other girl to help her and said it was for slender man when in reality it was just one of her negative thoughts that she wanted to try but needed the help of another. Idk just a theory lol
Also using the sympathy/empathy of others is another tactic to gain the control she needs to gain what she wants.
This doctor seems very rational and knowledgeable. She’s seems logical and fair. I hope they follow her findings and keep Morgan under care.
The dr said she also has ptsd trauma from commiting the crime of stabbing someone 19 times.

Each person has the right to be represented and access this kind of expert witness evidence...but you're so right, not a a job for everyone. It certainly wouldn't be for me. Even if I believed someone may be ready to be released, what a HUGE responsibility.

Why shouldn't she be released? She was not in control of her actions, you can't punish someone for having a psychotic episode, have some compassion.
These people need to think about the victim. If they were thinking about her, this wouldn’t even be up for discussion.
The victim has already stated that she is not concerned about the girls coming after her again. You need to pay attention to what the victim is thinking and feeling before you start yapping on her behalf.

You're not from planet earth if you think the law actually cares about the victims.

Not at all. She’s still very mentally ill, clearly.
I dont think she faked mental illness. I think that she wants to get out of custody and in her mind, thinks that if she says that she faked it and is in fact not ill. She will be able to get out quicker. This just proves that she has a lot more to work out. And is not ready to be released any time soon. She is still showing that she is struggling to comprehend reality.
This is normal behaviour, put yourself in her shoes, I was there too, in a mental hospital against my will, obviously I pretended I had no issues and was completely fine to get out which worked, this is normal human behaviour.
I don’t think just because the psych facility has nothing else to offer that she should just get released. She stabbed a girl 19 times. You lose your privileges to just join society again to benefit your social abilities after that
True, but if the psych facility has nothing more to offer, than maybe it would be prudent to consider another facility that has more to offer

In Germany we had a similar case. Two 12 year old stabbed another girl to death. The murderers were not mentally ill, like Morgan obviously is, they even looked up if they would be punished. In german law there is basically no punishment if the perpetrator is under 14. The murderers are even protected.

It's really hard for middle class families to help children with this level of psychosis. It costs thousands, and you literally have to be below the poverty line to qualify for Medicare and even then, it's difficult. So these children usually fall through the cracks.

District Attorneys often do in crimes of this nature. Additionally, victims have the right to be present at proceedings and give statements to the court under the Victim's Rights Act. I would be very surprised if they were not in touch with the prosecutor's office throughout the entirety of this case.
She has, she doesn't mind them being released, she is not a cruel vengeful person who lacks empathy, unlike most of the people on this comment section.
I was wondering who was so disrespectful to be coughing the whole time.... Turns out it's the judge😂
Gross
And I beg for her not be released.
That cough, though.. 🤢
Release from the mental institution......she must be crazy....
I'm uncomfortable with someone calling someone odd as a reason why they should be locked up. I'm odd. Be specific. You're the professional.
Yea, seems odd to diagnose someone as odd.
Nope keep those two locked up forever.
One is already out
They weren't even teenagers yet.
@@kingayy9267 People in the USA like to lock up children for life for things they did when their brains weren't fully developed. The "land of the free" incarcerates more people than China.
@@kingayy9267and???
If she could take accountability, recognize she is sick, agree to take the meds, & have supervision I wouldn’t be against release. However, she hasn’t met a single one of those, let alone all.
So she's now sayin she faked it to stay in the nut-hut. Let her out. Take her straight to prison.

So she “hadn’t ever experienced psychotic symptoms” but at the same time had “fanciful beliefs” that Slenderman would kill her family if she didn’t murder someone? I also hate the argument that her actions are due to abuse in her home. Abuse victims are not murderers nor should they be excused for doing so.
No. This one needs to stay where she is permanently.
It really is sad that Morgan's parents (or at least her mom anyway) never got her any sort of help. If they had this whole tragic situation probably would have never happened.
The other girl initiated and aggressively pushed Morgan to do this. Why is Noone acknowledging this.
why is she always slackjawed and just staring??
That girl ain’t right 😩
She's odd.
If you'd ever been on antipsychotics you'd know that this is just normal.
Nope. No way for the victim to beg their way out of their fate.
?? The victim is alive dude
Sometimes I wonder just how many of these comments are created by bots. This seems to be one of them.
@@fargoth391 no my service is bad and thought one didnt send so i posted another and then they both posted i am unfortunately a real person
@@fargoth391 and like what kind of comments the ones that dont agree w ur opinion?
Yes, only bc she got lucky. Their intention was to kill her, and after stabbing her 19 times they were very close at succeeding. @@poopass7067
imagine allowing murderers to get away with it by going to a psych hospital for a decade instead of jail just to be released. what a joke
This judge is a genius. His overthinking is amazing.
Both evil monsters and neither should ever be released. At 12 they knew exactly what they were doing.
"Your honor I was just pretending to be a psycho the entire time!" is one of the argument of all time, she just pull this argument straight from the meme comic.
I'm guessing it's a combination of Autism or neurodivergence and C-PTSD. I had dissociative episodes and would pretend to be psychotic to protect myself from my abusers at parochial school and physical violence at home. No one was listening and because I wasn't able to articulate myself like neurotypical authority figures, it was safer to play crazy to push everyone away.
If you think she's being traumatized by being in a mental health facility you watch too much TV. Regardless of grade of MHI - Forensics and Regular Behavioral...................She's getting 2 snacks, and 3 real fresh nutritious meals per day. A real bed in a real semi-private room setting. 24 Hour Medical Care, her own personal assistant (behavioral technician). Classes, TV access, outings access, and further therapeutic access in a Joint Commission Accredited facility (the same criterion as your local hospital). Family visits, internet access, the chance to wear regular street clothes and use preferred personal hygiene products. Prison offers none of that.
Sorry but this is the first ive heard her parents abused her?
Does anyone know anything about this?
I haven’t heard either. If so will they not investigate? She is definitely psychotic imo and should not be released
No…I think it came out when she got locked up in the hospital, so that’s why it came out now, but self reporting that should be investigated..I would report anything to be released also😮😮😢
Perhaps it wasn't released because she was a minor? Not sure.
If the parents were abusive they should have been charged. Or did she only say this after her father was dead and couldn't defend himself?
@@mocktrialbabe that totally makes sense..I bet your right
Oh so she prefers prison, cool cool
I heard that mental hospital was bad
She should be in prison.
Kids like these are the reason my daughter never spent the night with other girls in school. I don't trust others and she was too trusting in others.
That's fair. Did you let her friends spend the nigbt at your house?
Absolutely not
release her to where? she has no family or friends
her parents abused her
Group home 24:00
She is an adult.
Her parents abused her?
She knew what was right and wrong. She should be under the jail.
@@lisavandenhoven5672 Group homes are a place for SOME adults (or children who meet criteria) with disabilities/mental health diagnoses to live and receive further clinical treatment and socialization opportunities. I'm not saying I agree she's ready for that but they are available post-incarceration/hospitalization/institutilization.
I Can't believe she said knew to fake Crazy at 12. So she wouldn't have to go home but she would have went to Prison.
She will become nonmed compliant if she gets out and will reoffend...
The victim should be able to know where the released girl is at all times for her safety
This one who coughs at background.. should mutes himself..
The things she needs are available in jail/prison
i always had a feeling she went through abuse its not an excuse but it explains a lot
She was diagnosed with schizophrenia- Early Childhood Onset.
as a resident of Wisconsin I don't feel safe to have her out.
Write your governor or congressman or both
To stab your own friend 19 times… and then plea this?
If they're well enough to leave the mental health institution, they are well enough to serve the rest of their time in prison where they should have been in the first place. This is pathetic.
Keep her locked up!!
This is setting a really dangerous precedent for other offenders who do the same kind of crimes.
Doesn't sound like she should be released - just because she wants out doesn't mean she should get out
Everyone who is watching this should watch her interrogation. She’s dangerous and lacks sympathy.
Judge: takes one look at her haircut
Parole denied!!!
She showed what she is capable of and at such a young age! That horrible harm was towards a “friend” she “cared” about.. In my opinion she shouldn’t be out of supervision ever.
If she continues to state she faked her symptoms she should _not_ be released. That is a significant indicator she will not upkeep her treatment outside of mandatory hospital conditions.
I remember this case!! NO RELEASE!!
She will be out sooner than you think.
and where does she want to go?
Rebirth Island
Your house
She should never be allowed to just walk free
