    Breakdown!
    In this video, we're going to go over the PSD file of a stadium image that I created a few years back when I was still in an internship. There are loads of things that I'd differently today, but I thought it would be really beneficial to share some inside thoughts on this process.
    Back when I created this image there weren't any tutorials teaching how to add a mass of people quickly in photoshop without needing to use 3D software. So with these breakdown videos, I can dive deeper into more complex images and teach these specific things. I hope that helps you out!

      @@LearnUpstairs I used to have to do so many of these heavy post-production work, for theatre competitions right out of school. So many hours spent and the work is kept secret. It's such a satisfying feeling seeing you guys bringing these meticulous/meditative workflow into the spotlight. I think it is an art form that is under appreciated (well outside of your channels here).

    Outstanding work, i think one common flaw most people run into is thinking they need to model everything they want to see in the final render. Its nice to see how useful stock images and photoshop can save on time and my cpu. Thanks for the vid !

      Thanks, Mike! I couldn't agree more with you!
      Especially if visualization isn't our main role at a firm. We need to understand that archviz artists do that for a living and they might have the full week to work on the images. As opposed to Architects that also have to design, documents, handle clients, and many other tasks along the week.

      @@LearnUpstairs I agree with you on this Oliver! I have faced such situations where I feel PS helps and speeds up things that doing everything in 3D/Rendering. And thank god for Smart Objects & Replace Options, I am able to make changes in minutes compared to hours.

    Very nice of you to share the process , thank yo so much 👍... Always wandered how crowded interior images like this one were made .. i have some people scatrering models randomly on the seats but it is a whole diferent workflow .. and the result can be a bit stiff and with repetition .. it can lack the organic feel of a crowd, compared to your way.... The black & white version is dope 👌

    Great video! Could you possibly make a tutorial explaining how to get the colorful material/render ID image and how to go about using it in Photoshop?

    • @LearnUpstairs
      @LearnUpstairs  3 года назад +4

      Hey Jacob, thanks for the feedback! I think with a simple google search you should find how to activate them in the render engine you use. It's usually a simple button and it comes along with your final render as a separate image file. For example, google for "How to activate render channels in Vray for Sketchup".
      Then make sure to drag these render channels (also called render elements) into photoshop with your main render.
      Finally, just use the Magic Wand (shortcut W in Photoshop) to select the colored shapes and use that selection to make something else.
      I tried to give you a head start here over this comment, but that sounds like a good video idea! I'll be sure to add it to my future tutorials list. Thanks a lot!

    Love the new format and the black and white image really comes through! I think perhaps the blue glass colour in the background looked a little stark in comparison to the final image so maybe that's why the colours are a bit off. Regardless, loved the breakdown and how neatly you explained everything! Keep on creating!

    As an intermediate learner in archviz this format is better as it's shorter and explains the big picture well. But sometimes a full-fledged slow tutorial would be nice especially for beginners.
