Nothing to compare these two knives, but I just ordered the RAT ll D2. Debated it over the Ruike P801 and decided to go with the rat. I think the Rat ll is like a Benchmade Griptillian, everyone should own one. Thanks for the review!
Great comparison. 😎👍 I have the elementum but I'm getting ready to purchase my first rat to. Was trying to decide on which steel to get it in. Aus8 or D2. I'm thinking maybe the Aus8 since I already have several other knives with D2 steel. Your thoughts?
civivi elementum is better in my opinion! I like and having both. But if I can only keep one, I will choose the civivi elementum. Also civivi elementum is more famous in the EDC community recently.
If you haven't heard of the RAT Model 2, then you must have been living under a rock or using a knife made from a rock. It has been available since 2013 in AUS-8 steel. If Ontario has an S35VN steel version, but still with nylon handle scales for around $100. At that price, it should have come with micarta handle scales, even G-10 would be an upgrade. The the nylon handle scales strangely have more gripiness across the handle than toward the blade. Have you heard about the ESEE Zancudo? It is a frame lock with a spear point blade from the same people who designed the RAT series of knives. I think Randal's Adventure Training was not satisfied with the quality of Ontario's production. So they designed a new series of fixed blade knives that are made by Rowen. The folders were designed for Blue Ridge Knives and are made in Taiwan.
Civivi all the way!!!I never wanted to love a knife more than the RAT2 I'm a recent budget knife afficionado. The RAT2 was hyped on several youtube channels as the best thing since sliced bread. At the best, was a let down.i cushion that by saying I probably woulda loved the knife if I didn't have some others I really love. It has good steel and overall construction, but thats where it ends for me. It'll end up in my car as a beater. I like the look, the thinness and construction but it is far from a one hand intuitive knife like my other flippers that I thoroughly enjoy. This one takes some finess and smaller hand apparently. The clip is short and SUPER stiff. I got frustrated taking it out and putting in my pocket it was so tight. I was doing a project and basically just kept in fully in my pocket til my next use. It feels like itll wear out the jean material as well if i used this one a lot. For a budget friendly knife I'll buy other models of the Honeybadger or anything by Ganzo. The Ganzo Firebird FH91AND 41 in D2 with amazing flip action is $25 to $30 currently!!! Both Cheaper and more fun than this.
The companies still operate primarily in U.S. or globally. I don’t disagree with you. I by no means want to support China. But we have so many items every single person uses every day that is from china.

My RAT 2 is AUS-8 steel, not D2. Must be newer ones that are D2. Wish it was. Have to sharpen it every 6 months or so.
