Wow! What a treasure this is, inside and out! I own kindle versions and actual books on and by Snorri Sturlusson, but nothing like this, treasure it deeply, my friend.....
I've always wanted to learn a Scandinavian language. As a Dutch speaker I keep hearing that Norwegian would be "easiest" but even you talking in Swedish is already somewhat understandable for me. Beautifull book aswell :)
That's funny because I barely understand a word of Dutch! I sometimes hear similarities in the "flow" of the language compared to Swedish but I don't understand much at all . . .
@@PontusPresents Yea I've noticed that it's easier for me to understand them than it is the other way around. It's not like I understand everything but with some luck i can understand, at least, what they are talking about. It's just cool to see how languages, although different, can still appear familiar because of their shared roots. Also I would assume it depends on the type of dutch accent you hear, the modern day stereotypical "dutch" accent is quite a modern "invention" so I can imagine it can still sound quite foreign even though they are both germanic languages

Actually, there is! By the same Norwegian publisher, looks exactly the same, but it in English - translation by Lee Hollander. Also features full-page portrait of Hollander. Absolutely wonderful edition all-around. I ordered myself a copy from one of Norwegian online bookstores a couple of years ago.
Hey are you speaking swedish or norwegian in this video? Its always hard to tell for me but Im curious. I think I heard "sagor" and "sagorna" so that sounds swedish to me?
I'm speaking my native language, which is Swedish! :-) The book is translated into Norwegian, however.
@@PontusPresents Ah I see! :) I recently started learning Swedish but I only pick up a few key words with spoken language.

@@righteyeblink8996 I tried to pronounce the names in a mix between Norwegian and Swedish, haha! . . . ;-) But I love the Norwegian language, and I love reading books like this out loud to myself in Norwegian.
Den står her i bokhandelen av og til også. Jeg har ikke kjøpt den. (Jeg er ikke interessert i historier om konger og andre alt for mye selvopptatte folk i det hele tatt - unntatt fantasifigurer som Per Gynt og slik ;-) Men derimot fant jeg en veldig fin norsk praktutgave (oversett på norsk og inkludert de illustrasjoner av Alan Lee) av Ringenes Herre som jeg elsker. Selv om jeg er fra Nederland og forstår kanskje bare 60% av norske språket, skulle jeg gjerne lese den.
