I guarantee this didn't cost anywhere close to what some of the "Consumer" versions of this cost, and it sounds better too! And you did it yourself! Awesome!!!
Kentucky Ranger I am working on one right now but I am making it completely different, I bought some Logitech z323 speakers as the come with the amplifier and everything and you get four 3" speakers as well as a 4" subwoofer. I then removed all of it from the original housings, put them in a 50 cal ammo can from Costco, got a 12v motorcycle rechargeable battery, a power converter from the batter to wall outlet and then just hooked everything up. Sounds very good and has adjustable bass, volume nobs as well as Bluetooth.
I made a battery source in a 50 cal ammo can for fishing in the UK. 12v 15ah with remote LEDS, usb charging etc. Works perfectly and been wanting to do another project. I love what you have done and its now my next to do project. Great video and thanks for upsetting my missus as she now knows that I will be disappearing to the shed again for many an hour to play with MAN TOOLS :)
Fantastic project and great video. I have built amplifier and bluetooth module into an antique tube radio and connected it to the original speaker. Cheers from munich.
Just a suggestion try to make a gap between speakers and the chaise and insert a acrylic ring with rgb leds behind it. I would do that with a music rgb led controller circuit
Love it...nice build. Thinking about doing something like this! I made a few solar power generators out of ammo cans...but, not with speakers. Thinking about a dual voice coil woofer and two tweeters
hi roman, can you give links to those usb charger and dc-in plug? and a wiring diagram or a close up to those connection of battery and charger and switches.. i would reall apreciate it
This is awesome. It’s not a problem but The only thing I would of done different would be to utilize the space inside differently. I would of put the battery on its side and put all the parts as close as possible and wires neatly. And put overs over everything and have a little space inside the can to hold iPod, wallet, keys, etc. nice job though.
can you please detail a complete parts list that includes wiring, connections and ports, as well as switches! and maybe a diagram, Id love to make this for My grandfather and father for Christmas!
Really nice work and istallation. I would really like to make one for my father, but i have no idea how to wire everything up. Can you show me a wiring drawing? I bought everything you have except the on and off switch. Is the small jack necessary or can I just use the bluetooth?
You wouldn't have a wiring diagram of this would you? , looks like fun, I could do all the mounting and drilling of hole but the wiring would be an issue....lol
I really like your project however you left the wiring a bit of a mystery to me because I cant see where you are connecting the wires to the boards. BTW how far does the Bluetooth work through the steel box?
Roman: My husband has been wanting an ammo can boombox. He loves building stuff like this and I'd like to buy all the parts for him as a gift. I know nothing about electricity but I'd like to buy 5.25" boss marine speakers (150 rms) and the boss 500 watt amp with bluetooth remote. Could you tell me what kind of power I need to buy? Like how big of a battery or if I should just buy parts to make it a plug in stereo? Any help is appreciated!
How’s the Bluetooth range with the antenna enclosed in the metal box? I used an extender and soldered it to the on-chip antenna and mounted it externally, but if it’s pointless, I may as well drop it.
Ah cool, that's more than i would need. I did the antenna thinking i would be walking like 30 feet away from the thing, and it kinda works that far but really spotty. But mostly i just set my phone down next to the thing, hahaha. Might just skip it on my next upgrade, thanks!
I have two ammo boxes, a 50 cal and a smaller one that came with it. My ideal is to make the smaller the boom box and the larger one a lunch box and then connect them together. My question is...how small can you go and still fit all hardware into it?
That battery blocking the bass port is total science. But as long as you didn't mess with calculating right size and diameter of the tube it doesn't matter. ;-) Nice build anyway. Where do you get those shiny new ammo boxes? I only get htem heavily used for horrible prices here in Germany.
Yes, you can. The issue is lack of power. A 7Ah battery is 7,000 Mah A Galaxy S9+ is 4000Mah The battery he is using would not be sufficient. Your speaker could be wired the same but you'd need a battery with more (Ah) amp hours. A lead acid battery as the one shown in the video can only be discharged below 50% before it is damaged. Therefore the power usability is 3500Mah (3.5Ah) less than that of a modern day flagship smartphone even though it's much larger. The reason these cells are larger is due to the voltage. You can't power this type of speaker with a cellphone battery but 12V DC can be converted to 110V AC enough current to run a 45W mini fridge. Keep in mind your car battery is also 12V equivalent to the same Voltage of the battery used in the video. The circuit will perform the exact same with a car battery but will have way more Capacity for a longer lasting listening experience.
@Roman Biller thats a pretty slick tiny port. Where did you get it at? When I first saw this I was like that is going to sound awful unless he puts some dynamat in. Great job looks awesome and sounds great!
When comparing the wattage the speakers are capable of to the output on the amplifier, obviously the speakers could be pushed way further than what you're putting to them. Would you say that it would be beneficial to get more volume out of the box? I intend to use this for like a camp fire/party setting
Good stuff. Did a similar Ammo Audio replica build last year. I still notice a slight vibration even with dynamat with these ammo cans. I suspect it's the lid and the rear panel and maybe cuz i'm running a sure 50w amp with some mid bass 4" speakers. I do notice noise with the sure bluetooth module and amp combos if they're using the same grounding points. Have you had this problem? For now I'm using separate power supplies for each to eliminate noise. Also did you do the antenna mod on the bluetooth module? Totally worth the extra range for just soldering some solid copper wiring to built in antenna.
How did you mount your battery? I didn’t see anything clamping it down. I couldn’t figure out a secure way without putting metal clamps and screws when I built mine. I used to use clamps glued to the side but I was afraid of a short circuit if one came loose.
@Roman Biller, nice set up, great video. Im going to start this project for my son. i order all part. but would like the wire set if it possible Please. i can figure some of it out, but i'm try to figure out the switches set-up. Thank you.
@@RomanBiller i made one with a 120 watts amp and 70 watts speaker.Do you think its fine?Anyway the amp rated 8-24v and it shows 120watts for 24v but im only using 12v so its fine right? Thanks!
Is the Bluetooth and amp easy to wire up, are you daisy chain the 2 together, is there any schematic you could send me, I'm getting all the bits together to build this, and now want to add Bluetooth. Thanks.
Great video, I am planning on building my own Jammo Box and I wanted to know what size speakers and fan guards did you use. I want to go with a 4in speaker and I don't want to make a mistake and order the wrong size fan guard. Thanks
Awesome video, thanks for taking the time to make it. I have only one question, are you having vibration issues with the handle, the cover, or the switches/jacks on the side of the box? I am going with the Dayton Audio MDL KAB-250 Part #325-104 50 watt x 2 channel Bluetooth 4.0 amp found at www.partsexpress.com and JL Audio C2-350x 3.5" 2 way speakers.
cool thanks for the reply. I was wondering if you could link the switch that you used? I like how you have the usb charging hooked to a dedicated switch so the led in it isn't always on. do you just run the usb power wire to the battery?
Not an expert, but I believe amps get burnt out by unmatched resistance, not wattage. Speakers will get burnt out at cranked volumes if they are lower than the amp, however.
I over-ordered some ammo cans. I was going to fill them with ammo, but I think I can sacrifice one for this project. Nicely done!!
For school project. Huh?
😆🤣
I guarantee this didn't cost anywhere close to what some of the "Consumer" versions of this cost, and it sounds better too!
And you did it yourself! Awesome!!!
i made this too. Stuff costed me almost exactly 100€ and i didnt only ordered the cheapest stuff

Lol wish we all had access to the tools you do :-( would have made my ammo box project a LOT easier lol and safer haha! Great video man!
Superb build! 👍 I also loved the music with the military training film audio tie-in. 👏
Thank you!
Really beautiful project. Nice components you used

So, you don't want to spend $350 for AMMO-AUDIO?
Roman Biller I guess you didn't see the question
+Roman Biller could you make a wiring diagram
Roman Biller where did you get those switches
Cool idea and great job!
Is there a black plastic box that fit 2 6.5 150w marine speakers on the front for a bluetooth build?
Cool Build. How long the does the battery last you?
What diminison should I get for plastic ammo box 40mm & 50mm for 2 6.5 1/2 marine speakers?
That's excellent!!! Great Video!! Thanks for sharing
Thank YOU!
Great walkthrough!
Badass. I'm going to get one now...
Holy shit this is awesome! Good job!
Munchies The Sockmonkey it’s holy God you idiot
Admire the construction but what's the thing with 'amo' boxes in the states. Ridged I guess but not common in uk...I Think?
there cool
How would you know of the battery is all the way charged?
Ammo cans look cool but I honestly can't think of a worse material to house audio speakers in.
are you able to show us how the wiring is going ?
Really nice work and istallation. I would really like to make one for my father, but i have no idea how to wire everything up. Can you show me a wiring drawing? I bought everything you have except the on and off switch. Is the small jack necessary or can I just use the bluetooth?

about 10-20 ft, but I leave phone next to boombox.
Is that shake hands with danger in the background?

great build.... I have all that need to build... the hole saw idea is great and a much cleaner look... what size did you use
95mm
Ahhh, seen it on Unbox Therapy.
Is this a kit or did you gather these things yourself? I mean besides the amo can.
Adela Tejeda not a kit
Do you happen to have a wire diagram? Thank you. Looks awesome

+hiblendmedia No noise or static at all. I may do antena later..
Very clean build. Where did you get the double switch in a single housing?
Samuel Howard eBay/ Amazon
Awesome video. Ill surely make 1. Whats the black insulation that lined the entire structure of the ammunition box?
its dynamat its uused to dampen sound vibrations in vehicle applications. but will work ggreat for this aswell
+Devin Rovell thanks for the answer. By the way how much does it cost
well. depends. most likely gonna run you 50-100 bucks depending on the kit you get
+Devin Rovell is there any alternative. Which is cheap like 10-15 bucks
I used high density foam foam from Walmart.
How did you mount your battery? I didn’t see anything clamping it down. I couldn’t figure out a secure way without putting metal clamps and screws when I built mine. I used to use clamps glued to the side but I was afraid of a short circuit if one came loose.
Can you hook me up with the wiring diagram? I was thinking about building one and actually using same Sure components.
+Robert hill thewiring depends on the amplifier/bluetooth recierver you have/find/buy.
Subbed nice work . Oh nice bench too 8-)
What size air port did you use?
around 1"
@Roman Biller, nice set up, great video. Im going to start this project for my son. i order all part. but would like the wire set if it possible Please. i can figure some of it out, but i'm try to figure out the switches set-up. Thank you.
+Eddie Rubio, I use double switch. One for Amp and BTooth, other for usb charger.
+Roman Biller How do you ground the boards? Do you just run a wire to the case?
I wish someone would make a video showing people how to actually make one of these.
is there a batery controller to prevent overcharge or over discharges?
No
+Roman Biller did anyone else imagine grumpy cat when he said no
Daniel Olaussen use a smart charger
Hi! I wanna ask if your 2ch 8watts amp can produce enough power to your 30-60w speakers. Thanks!
Yes it will

I really like this but I'm a little confused. How are you charging the 12 volt, through the usb or a 2.1 connection?
2.1 connector
How do you recharge the battery.
What frequency did you tune your port to? Frequency response according to RF is 100 HZ to 20 khZ. I assume 100 Hz?
Can you put a diagram or picture or something like that to explain the wires and electrical stuff?
I have clicking noise in speakers when Bluetooth light flashes. Any suggestions?
Can you put a link to all the parts here?
hey man awesome build
how do you charge the battery?
What size are those 'speaker grills'? I'm in process of making one similar to yours. Great build by the way!
+ssantac
90mm
Is the Bluetooth and amp easy to wire up, are you daisy chain the 2 together, is there any schematic you could send me, I'm getting all the bits together to build this, and now want to add Bluetooth.
Thanks.
you hook up the receiver and amp via rca jack
Where you bought the screen for the speakers and size or part number?
How much would you charge to build this?
Awesome tutorial! What size hole saw did you use?
+Nearly Gnarly, 3 3/4
+Roman Biller thank you very much.
I was thinking who has to order an ammo can? Doesn't everybody have 10 of those in their garage? I think I have 12.
Great video, I am planning on building my own Jammo Box and I wanted to know what size speakers and fan guards did you use. I want to go with a 4in speaker and I don't want to make a mistake and order the wrong size fan guard. Thanks
I use Rockford Fosgate R14X2 4" Inch
Thanks for the quick reponse, could you tell me what size fan guard you went with.
with 4" speakers 90mm x 90mm computer fan guards. Good Luck!
What size fan grills did you get?
Do you have a wiring diagram?
Did you have put a 12v-5v converter?? Can you add solar panels to the 12v battery??
+David Cabrera No converter, all electronic components 12V.
would like a list of parts and where to get them and some specs

No vibration issues at all.
Could you tell me what the name of the usb charger is?
Mayby one extra module.
A battery low voltage detection so you dont drain your battery to much.
whats the stuff you put inside the can
Hi, you you get any noise from the BT receiver sharing the same power supply as the amp? like some beeping, cracking when there's no music playing
Not at all.
How much for one?
did you have to put an external antenna for the Bluetooth or does it pick it up through the ammo can and dynamat?
No external antenna, but it never hurts.

Not an expert, but I believe amps get burnt out by unmatched resistance, not wattage. Speakers will get burnt out at cranked volumes if they are lower than the amp, however.
What kind of music is this
Daniel Clark did you ever find out who the band is?
Does a bluetooth module works when when it sits in a metal box?
Yes
Where did u find the the like uh speakers guards, I guess
looks like he used some 120mm PC fan grills. they are relatively cheap
Have you had any issues with the charger or battery with this set up?
never
Have you had any problems connection or range) with the Bluetooth receiver being inside a metal can?
10-20 ft works ok.
Lets see, 120w speakers with an 8w amp... incomplete parts list... right.
How did you wire everything
Roughly how much did it cost you to make the speaker
$150-200
But the amp is 2x8watts but u put 120watts speaker? How is that possible
it's possible but the speakers will only have max 8 watt
+Daniel Olaussen It is possible, but the speakers could be destroyed through clipping.
how many watts? i'm gonna build one whit 300watts
+To Much Bass This one 2x8W at 4 Ohm and very loud! . Good Luck to you with 300w ))
wow that is already loud so i think i'm gonna make my dad angry but thanks i whil try to do it
...nice job, I don't know nothing about electronics, can you build one for me? Let me know about $.
Any chance of getting a wiring diagram?
How much millimeters where those fan grills?
It's all depense of your speaker size.
I'm using 4" Pyle speakers and was wondering the same thing. 120mm fan grills?
Brents Pepper yes
Thanks Roman!
How long does that battery last you??
vectorponder after 72 hours I just gave up testing it.
how do you charge it?
how long will one charge last?
+Axel Heder a 2500ma battery pack will last about 10+ hours on this setup. So with a 7AH battery you can most likely expect a full 20+ hours.
+Axel Heder 24 hours non stop!
