  • Here I repair a very noisy and Microphonic Behringer V-Amp Pro. It looks like this is a common problem so here's a video detailing the troubleshooting process and repair of the offending component.

Nice to see you doing the stuff I love to do. I think Behringer have a problem with earthing as I have literally disconnected the earth on about 6 of their products I've had. Cheers, bud

Behringer is cheap and mostly not roadworthy. I moved this unit last week to a new space and the headphone jack (plastic) crumbled to pieces when I pushed the jack in. Back to the workshop for a decent jack!

Im having issues with the same model but, with the headphone jack only mono instead of stereo. I have a stereo jack (tsr) on my headphones. a friend has the same model and, my headphones work perfectly in stereo on his. Any ideas?

I have a UK model and a Japanese model. Can I swap voltage transformers I out, to use them in USA? If so where do I get them?

You probably can but it would probably be cheaper just buying a used one in the states. I don't know where you might buy a transformer anyway..

Hey Derek! Mine is having a issue with the effects knob, it’s not selecting the effects, but it rotates pretty well, it just got frozen in one and won’t move, I don’t know why this is happening but if you know it’ll be really helpful! Thanks man

Probably the contacts inside the knob are dirty. You will have to get contact cleaning spray into the switch itself. Not an easy job because the switch is inside the unit and is sealed. Best give it to a professional for repair.

Nicely done, Derek! Tell me, did you see a battery - possibly a button battery - in there anywhere? I suspect there is one somewhere in the circuitry as my LX210 no longer holds the presets...
    Cheers

It's a button battery, should be super reliable for 10 years, after that, no user presets will be available. Relatively easy job, just be careful when pulling apart, as you can break shit. Mine has been running since early 2000's, with one battery change; due for another. But all user presets are backed up on my old and dedicated Pentium 200 MMX! (for legacy connectivity to the fantastic and super twaekable PC Monitor).

@@superspit all the most problems of the v-amp bass are, except the earthing, a battery 2032 problem. otherwise you can also do reset the amp and mostly the problems are gone. I have the pro more than 7 years and have change the battery twice. try it before you bring it to a repairstation. a battery costs €3,00

My drive knob broke off, how would I find a part number for it ?

I don't know if you can get a replacement pot for the unit. If you have the old shaft you can try to repair it by using a piece of plastic tubing that fits over the shaft. I have done this with the V-Ampire and I had success. Cut about 8mm of plastic tubing and slide it over the broken shaft. Use a small amount of super glue to join the shaft back together.

I don't see well in the video can you tell me what type of female jack you use and where it is soldered.
    Thank you

I used a normal 6.3mm stereo panel mount jack. Before removing the old one I buzzed out the connections with a multimeter. If possible, get the kind that switches when a plug is inserted, as it is used as a mute circuit when there is no plug present.

Check the big filter capacitors in your power supply. I got this same problem in my bass vamp pro. After replacing the caps If I remember 2200uF x 35v this problem was gone.

I was deliberating between purchasing this unit and a Line6 Pod 2 and although the V-amp Pro seems more versatile and has some decent sounds, I'm now leaning toward the less versatile American-made unit just because it will probably enjoy greater longevity. Sigh.
