Honestly, thats what I noticed with mine. I use and iphone XR for my camera shots and were comparing these to eachother. I originally thought this camera was complete ass since it looks terrible on screen. But, before I returned it I loaded the photos onto my mac and some of the long distance shots and object shots actually came out better than my Iphone. However, my Iphone still takes better shots of people. Point is the camera screen looks like complete ass, but when you upload the pictures to a computer they actually look way better.

While I was browsing other cameras I noticed that a lot of them had bad screens despite me knowing that some of them took great amateur pictures. The only cameras I noticed sub $400 dollars that had screens that actually looked like the photo was the sony cameras. BUT I also noticed that the sonys have really rich colors, so I don't know if its exactly true to life, but tbh I kinda like that it makes colors pop like that.

Good job on the video! The AZ421 is the same camera but with a proprietary battery and able to be charged while in the camera (charger not needed). The plus with AA batteries is when/if one travels the batteries are available everywhere.
I had a Kodak Easy Share 15 years ago. I used rechargeable AA Energizers. I bought the wall charger & 12 batteries so I always had batteries. They paid for themselves very quickly. Definitely invest $25 or $30 for the batteries & charger. Buy once, cry once. I just bought a charging port that charges AA or AAA that's USB so I can use my Anker 20,000 mAh power bank or MT 230W power station to charge batteries.
The two top buttons near the shutter button are the drive mode and exposure value settings. You use them respectively to change your shooting mode (continuous, 3 shot burst, and single shot) and your exposure value (which affects the brightness).
I have this camera and I bought a az421 and that's where the rechargeable batteries start I also have the az528 and that's where the Wi-Fi started lol great little camera all the astrozoom line seemed to be spot on with things except for the az401 AA batteries like you said... Great review

the user manual tells you to use name brand batteries but they give you four no name junk batteries with the camera. just got this camera...seems like a good basic camera.
This camera is best used with rechargeable Energizer NiMH batteries. And as far as focus goes, it depends on how well you know your camera, when it comes to focus and auto-focus. This camera can do amazing things if you know how to work it.

I use the Energizer rechargeable batteries and I have a Kodak EasyShare that I've had probably since mm and there I got that pixpro az401 and I've had it for a few years and the rechargeable energizer's are really really awesome in it and they last forever I think I'm on my second or third pack since I've had my first camera
That's awesome, I tell people to absolutely stay away from cheap batteries, yes they will pay more but the investment it worth it in order to get the most out of the camera. Rechargeable batteries are a great idea to cut out of pocket costs as well.

@Colin Winningham for indoor i do recommend using flash, but if you explore a bit more, you will see in scene mode, it has more modes in that mode, so if your doing sports you can use sport mode or dog pic, you can use the dog or cat mode. I have never done night filming with it. I imagine if you had a light for a camera you wouldn't have a problem, I'm sure if there is adequate light in the suburb it should be fine.

You probably have the wrong sd card only certain ones are allowed it has to be 32g only it can’t take 64 and has to be a regular sd i don’t think it can handle ultrasd or anything higher . I went through this a couple times before actually reading the manual.

@@Yayy33_ I use the card that the photos are saved to. Put the SD Card I. You're computer and load them on there. Then you can email them to yourself and save them. That's what I did, hope that helps.
As far as professional videos, I'd recommend something higher up. But to its credit the video quality and sound is great. Some of my videos here on my channel were shot with this camera. The mic picks up really good.

You are correct. I only use Energizer.

A negative is that it has no view finder. On a bright sunny day you can not see what you photographing in the LCD screen.
Mine stops working out of no here ! I got it for Christmas and after I changed the batteries it’s keeps cutting off I would not recommend!
It could just be that particular one. Mine works fine. You can't judge a brand on one bad experience. But get what works for you.
Can you adjust the brightness / exposure in movie mode? Can you adjust the white balance in movie mode?

Try downloading them from the card to your pc, then try emailing it to yourself. It should show up in your email on your phone.

just bought one for 52.81 at the pawn shop. Came with new batteries, lens cap, 32gb sd card and strap.

I think you could vlog as long as you keep in mind how long the batteries last while vlogging. Rechargeable batteries would be best.

Hey man, umm no you don't need to charge the camera. Double A batteries are what is required to power it.
After 6 months my AZ401 will not stay on. It comes on and turns off. Any info ?

The complaint about the batteries isn't a big issue. I use rechargeable lithium AA batteries.
This camera won't be for everyone.
The dust cover is crappy, doesn't stay on. And having trouble taking micro pics.
Why not just buy some good rechargeable batteries?

You don't set it up you just put it in. It goes in the slot next to where you put in the batteries
