@@SAFABrian very welcome! Love your videos! I’m a quadriplegic and have been paralyzed for 26 long years. I was an avid cyclist and miss cycling beyond words. Keep up the awesome work and God bless you!🙏🏼
I love this series so much! I've never been much of a cyclist but I've started cycling every day since I watched the first episode, and now I can't wait to go on an adventure like this :) thanks, and can't wait for your next trip!
Gotta get out to the west coast, so many epic service roads and trails. Would love to run some of them. Cinematography on another level of late Brian! Keep it up man.
There’s definitely some great riding out there with miles and miles of forestry service roads. Midweek this time of year is probably the best time of year to ride out there. It can get pretty hot in the summertime and also pretty crowded with the Jeep club crowds. It’s not uncommon to come up on a mile long 50+ Jeep deep traffic jam snaking along some of those trails. The flies and wasps can be a bit of a nuisance in the summer as well. There may be some snow and ice during the winter months, but that varies from year to year. Spring can be nice as well, but if it’s dry it can be crowded like summer and or if it was a wet winter it can be muddy from the snow melt. The are is like a big hub, with various trails branching off in various directions. The PCT also runs through there so you need to keep that in mind since bikes aren’t supposed to be on there. A hard tail mtb might be a better choice for the terrain, but obviously it’s doable on a gravel bike. The Palm Canyon Epic is another great ride a little south of there. Also even further south is the Coast to Crest Trail from Vulcan Mountain to Del Mar Beach.
that editing foreshadowing at 16:19 was so pro: "we don't want to be descending in the dark; we don't want to be riding in the highway in the dark." nicely done gents.
These are really fantastic vids, the drone shots are awesome. I'm picking up my Open WI.DE tomorrow and I'm going to hit this trail next week...thanks fellas, can't wait to see the next one in Santa Clarita!
This video series has been INCREDIBLE! It may take a long time to film it, but wow is it ever worth it. Just got my first ever road bike a month ago and it's a Scott ,because of your videos. Keep the content coming, I can't wait for the next episode of Forgotten Roads.
2 years ago I found a bike on the street. I road it home and immediately fell in love with cycling. I then learned the beauty and fun of cycling from Safa. He is amazing. I just love the freedom and danger of high speed descents. Thanks Safa, Keep posting all your cool videos.

Safa I've been watching your videos for a while and I don't think I knew what you looked like until now 🤣 This video series is awesome! I am amazed at the variety of gravel riding you have out there, thanks for sharing
Fantastic film. It's amazing up there. But I could almost feel the relief when you guys finally pulled off the highway back to the dirt. That hwy is sketchy as hell!
This is so cool. I would love to do some bikepacking through here, but those grades look insanely steep. I wonder if there are any water sources up ther.
I recommend Puerta La Cruz Rd, Warner Springs, CA. Heads out Indian Flats campground. Just past the glider airstrip. It is a paved road big enough for one car, sections feel like a bmx track.
I grew up in the area and I never realized Mt San Jacinto was part of the San Bernardino Forest. What a Massive area from Big Bear all the way east. I hope you guys can do some Nor Cal stuff sometime. I spent some years in Sacramento and there are some epic spots within driving distance.
Great video and great route, Safa! What size Addict are you riding and how tall are you? I'm planning on ordering one as soon as they are available in my local shop. Not sure what size though, since I seem to fall in the "between sizes" category. Would you go for the smaller frame with longer stem or the bigger frame with shorter stem. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Thank you. The tyres are pretty damn good for the socal conditions. Surprisingly fast on the road imo. They do wear pretty fast but I always take performance over longevity. Currently on Maxxis Ramblers and like them off road cos they come in 50mm for my front tyre. They're slower on the road but great on the dirt.
@SAFA Brian can you please bend someone's ear at Hammerhead about the sensor dropouts - particularly PMs. Been on their fix list for months now. Having to reconnect your PM every time you stop is taking the piss.
That sucks! I haven't had any problems with my speed, cadence, or pm sensor on different bikes 🤷. If it is an issue for people you can bet they're working on it. Haven't seen a company put out as many updates as HH do.
@@SAFABrian I'm not sure if it's been like this since the start of Karoo 2, but it's been more than 6 months. A lot of people get dropout every time they stop, without fail. Only PM sensor I've not seen consistent problems reported with, is Favero. HH have offered suggestions to try to stop it, which generally don't work, and some people have been offered refunds, but there's no word from them on any kind of fix.
would be better to have the commentary at the beginning, the end and inbetween just from the off over the footage, this doesnt have the flow of your other videos.
